I'm a fairly recent fan of Mariah (became one during Memoirs). Since I discovered her I've been getting her older material. I got her Christmas album and studio albums except Rainbow, Glitter, and Charmbracelet. I was wondering if you would recommend that get these remaining albums or just cherry-pick the songs I want to put on my ipod. I initially bought her Greatest Hits after becoming a fan, so I have some of her singles off of Rainbow. As for Glitter and Charmbracelet, I've read that they are the low points of Mariah's discography. Thank you in advance for any and all replies. :)

As a fan of 16 years
Charmbracelet is very underrated... however as un popular glitter was, that album was VOCALLY amazing. And Rainbow. Is ok lol

I initially bought her Greatest Hits after becoming a fan, so I have some of her singles off of Rainbow. As for Glitter and Charmbracelet, I've read that they are the low points of Mariah's discography. Thank you in advance for any and all replies. :) If you're really becoming a die-hard fan, no harm in getting all three albums, though I can definitely recommend highlights: Rainbow - "Crybaby" is the best song off Rainbow. It's a classic Mariah R&B jam about lovesick-inspired insomnia. "Petals" is another Mariah classic. The production could be better, but it's one of the most vocally subtle tracks Mariah has ever made and the lyrics and pure poetry. "Bliss" is also a hot and sexy track, but if you're not a fan of Mariah's high notes, don't get this one. Glitter - "Lead the Way" is one of Mariah's sappiest yet vocally amazing ballads there has been. Not a favorite, but worth getting. "All My Life" is a sexy throwback track that probably should have been a single from Glitter. And "Didn't Mean to Turn You On," though an almost exact remake of the original, is poppy and fun Mariah at her best. And I agree with the last poster that Glitter is vocally amazing. Charmbracelet - vocally and production wise, this is probably Mariah's weakest albums. But from a songwriting point of view, this album is quite amazing and had so much potential. "Subtle Invitation" is a sultry, jazzy track about how Mariah's always ready for a little touch from the man she loves. "The One" is a fairly typical Mariah/JD collabo, but one of the key steps in Mariah's transition to the rap/singing style (the remix is hot as well). "My Saving Grace" is one of Mariah's most soulful tracks. It's a gospel ballad about how through thick and thin, God is always there to show her the way. I'd also recommend the b-side track "There Goes My Heart," which has a very classy and understated vocal performance from Mariah and a bit more of an earthy sound that her usual songs. Hope that helps! Welcome to the world of lambdom!

Subtle Invitation from CB is one of my Top 20 Mariah songs... maybe even Top 10. Here are highlights for me from each: Rainbow - Crybaby, XGirlfriend, Heartbreaker, Can't Take That Away Glitter - If We, Reflections CB - Subtle Invitation, Bringin on The Heartbreak, Through The Rain Remix, There Goes My Heart

There Goes My Heart. Ahh what a wonderful song. I still hope she'll re-record it and slap it on a future album. A total gem in her catalog.

Is anybody else worried that Chelsea Handler is going to make fun of Mariah at the VMAs?? Mariah is an Icon and Legend. Chelsea can't hurt Mariah's legacy. (Just like she can't cause damage to Madonna's legacy either...who seems to be Chelsea's #1 target after Angelina Jolie.) That said, who cares? Mariah will be around for decades to come. Chelsea...let's give her three more years before her verbal antics start to bore.

That Grammy performance is so overrated. She lipped almost all of the hard parts. You can totally tell the bridge is entirely lipped up until when she comes back in with that awful note lol.

My absolute favorite performance of "We Belong Together" is actually a tie between two performances: Oprah and BET Blueprint. Her vocals in those performances were top-notch, though the last "big" note in the Oprah performance was lipped (as was the case with nearly all "We Belong Together" performances, so I didn't really mind). <3

My favorite is MTV movie awards and Live 8. BET Awards was a mess.
Anyway, ABMB is her most played song on pop radio this week with 111 spins followed by WBT and Obsessed.

<3 That picture! <3 The Oprah performance was one of the best ones (along with Ellen and BET). I also enjoyed the one at Letterman and Jay Leno among the talk shows stops. That Grammy performance is so overrated. How dare you? >:( What I love about the MTV Awards performance are the B&W visuals and her red dress standing out: classy, ICONIC and powerful. :'( I also like her presence/expression on that performance. You could tell she was aware of the success and that she had that comeback on lock. And she nailed it.

Mariah Carey Pregnancy (All But) Confirmedby Mariel Concepcion, N.Y. | Agosto 31, 2010 5:20 EDTWhile Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon continue dodging questions about whether they're expecting a child, sources close to the couple have confirmed to the Juice that Carey is indeed pregnant. So let me be the first to extend a warm, though unofficial congratulations to the future mommy and daddy!
Although folks around them are bursting to speak openly about the bundle of joy, it might be a while before the pair officially announce being with baby. Just a few days after Mariah thanked fans for their "well wishes," saying, "When the time is right, everyone will know" via her Twitter account, her husband continued to be cryptic about the pregnancy. "I think 'superstitious' is the wrong word... I think it's more a spiritual thing," he told USMagazine.com yesterday (Aug. 30). "She wants to keep as much privacy as she possibly can."
Don't expect Mariah to keep her privacy for too long, though. I hear that she is four months pregnant already, meaning she won't be able to hide the baby bump for much longer. That also means she's past the first trimester, or as Cannon put it to Us, the "certain time limit you're supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are [pregnant] and all that stuff."
To further juice up the speculations, a video clip of Mariah performing in São Paulo, Brazil, surfaced online last week, in which her belly is visibly more round than I remember.
No matter how long it is until a formal announcement is made, we wish the Carey-Cannons a wonderful term and a beautiful and healthy baby.Source: www.billboard.com/news/column/the-juice/mariah-carey-pregnancy-all-but-confirmed-1004112140.story#/news/column/the-juice/mariah-carey-pregnancy-all-but-confirmed-1004112140.story

I've always loved MiMi's album titles and this one is HANDS DOWN her best. Now if ONLY the material on the album delivers. Regardless, I'm buying this and Susan Boyle's Christmas albums.

That dowdy creature doesn't deserve to be in the same shopping bag as Mimi so you might as well save your money and buy Christina's Special Kind of Christmas or whatever it's called. Just like the marriage to Nick, I will be waiting for official confirmation before I start congratulating her.
