Rascal Flatts is the only artist among those I dislike as intensely as Carrie. All the rest have produced consistently good/great material at some point in their careers. Then how do you describe Phil Vassar's I'll Take That As A Yes The Hot Tub Song? Welcome to Pule Music Board, Bombshell!

Well, as much as I enjoy the confusion of opinion with fact, not to mention sweeping declarations about how this or that artist is the worst (do I need to note that I'm being sarcastic here? I feel like I might)...this isn't a productive conversation. Why not? Because I see posters resorting to dogmatic, borderline angry language without any attempt to discuss the song or otherwise defend his/her opinion. It doesn't make for a constructive contribution to the board. And now conversation is veering wildly off-topic, and again nowhere productive.
I have been working on some added guidelines for posting in the Country forum for some time now, and am happy to say that I should be able to post them by week's end. In the meantime, I will remind everyone that you should only be posting here if you have something genuinely new and substantive to the conversation, something that hasn't already been said on this board. This isn't a forum where it's OK to post for the sake of hearing yourself talk.

I will certainly delete my last few posts, as I'm sure they are among what you are referring to.

So how soon do you think Undo It will make its run at number 1? I am hoping early July.

So how soon do you think Undo It will make its run at number 1? I am hoping early July. I don't think that's very likely at all. I'd say give Brad and Jason combined a total of 3 weeks at the top, beginning this coming week. That'd take care of 7/3, 7/10, and 7/17 chart weeks. They could take up another week, but there's no way to know. I think Luke Bryan is a strong candidate to get a week after that, so let's say 7/24. And who knows, he could get another. But the way I see it, Carrie won't have a chance at #1 until the 7/31 chart at the very earliest, and of course the 7/31 chart would be released on the July 19th BCU. So I'd say late July or into August is probably likely for Carrie's run at the top. I wonder if Keith Urban will make things interesting? I hope both songs can get a couple of weeks at #1, as well as "Free" from the ZBB.

I've been listening to this song non-stop for the past month or so. Such a fun song :) I agree. Initially I wasn't crazy about this as a single choice, but now it's become my favorite single of hers from this era. "Cowboy Casanova" was good, but it burned on me really quickly. I just felt like they were going the safe route with "Temporary Home". This one has REALLY grown on me though. I don't know why, but the video makes me love it even more. I love the attitude she puts into this song.

^ ITA At first, I didn't like the idea of a live video for the song. But I think I've watched that video 50 times and it really shows her energy on stage and I think it's a really good fit for the song.

Does anyone else feel like the country chart has been moving in slow motion for a month now? Why are all the bullets so low? She's been #6 for like, over a month now.

Does anyone else feel like the country chart has been moving in slow motion for a month now? Why are all the bullets so low? She's been #6 for like, over a month now. The country chart has been moving a bit slower, but I suppose that could happen when you have one song holding the top, and a lot of other songs hungry for #1. In this case, Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" held the top spot for an astounding 4 weeks, while songs like "Water" and "Crazy Town" and even "Rain is a Good Thing" and "She Won't Be Lonely Long" were still adding audience but unable to move up any positions. That trickles on down to the rest of the top 10. With Miranda finally down to #3 this week, and Brad and Jason not looking like they will pull in a huge amount of audience, Luke Bryan appears poised to challenge for #1. Clay Walker is also making a push, and although Carrie isn't adding audience as fast as she was a few weeks back, she should still move into the top 5 this week. Bullets in the top 10 might be lower because once a song is in the top 10 I would say it's probably been added by the majority of the BB panel stations, so it's tough to gain more audience or to be pushed a lot higher in many stations' rotations (therefore it is more difficult to see a huge spike in spins). I think we might be building up to a general "housecleaning", so to speak, on the country chart soon. The way I see it, Luke Bryan has got #1 next, followed by Carrie and then Keith Urban. There's a chance Brad and Jason could still pull off a decent week and squeak out a week at #1, or Clay's push could be massive enough to get him in the running, but those chances for #1 are much smaller than the obvious #1's. Again, it should go Luke, then Carrie, and then Keith.

Clay Walker is holding Carrie at bay with "She Won't Be Lonely Long" and so far for the week they're both up the same amount. Unless Clay starts to drop, a fourth week at #6 may be likely for "Undo It" for next week. As for the gaps, I've noticed that too. There's nearly a 6.2 million gap between Carrie and Keith Urban and almost a 3 million gap between Billy Currington, Gretchen Wilson, Craig Morgan and Josh Turner to Gary Allan's "Get Off On The Pain".

There's nearly a 6.2 million gap between Carrie and Keith Urban and almost a 3 million gap between Billy Currington, Gretchen Wilson, Craig Morgan and Josh Turner to Gary Allan's "Get Off On The Pain". Clay's making some sort of push with his "4th of July Special", but I still think Carrie has an excellent chance to move up to #5 this week. If Miranda loses close to what she lost last week (in audience) and Carrie has a decent enough week, I believe she'll move up to #5 while Miranda will fall into that large gap [in audience] that's been noted between Carrie and Keith. Carrie gained about 1.4 million this past week to push her audience up over 29.7 million. Miranda fell about 1.4 million to about 33.8 million. Carrie's week was a little slower than what she'd recently had, so if she can increase her audience by a bit more, and Miranda's rate of decline increases somewhat, Carrie could move into the top 5. It should be close between the 2 songs filling positions 5 & 6. But even if Carrie spends an extra week at #6, it won't matter. The top 5 is starting to clear up, and she'll still hit #1, likely in the range of her song only being around 15 weeks old. If Carrie is ambitious, she could reach the top 2 charts from now. But I think it'll more likely be in the 3-4 week range yet. EDIT: Just looked at rowdawg's chart...Miranda has lost over 1 million after just 2 days...Carrie is gaining, not a huge amount, but Miranda certainly looks like she could fall enough into Carrie's range.

Number 5, finally. It looked like Undo It would stay at the 6 spot forever. But, it looks like if the song gets to the top, it'll be there for a while. I'm guessing 3 weeks.

Yeah there had been a bit of a logjam at the top, but it's starting to clear up. For how strong "The House That Built Me" was at the top, I'm surprised that it's dropping so quickly, but that could be because radio is trying to shake up the top 10, and also, the bigger reason, that radio stations are jumping on "Only Prettier" now. Brad isn't having a horrible week, but I don't know that he will get a 3rd week at #1. Luke Bryan is far enough ahead of Carrie that now is the time for him to go for #1. Clay still seems to want to get higher (which is good), but he barely held off Carrie this past week and I don't think he can do it for a 2nd week in a row. I believe Aldean will fall down the charts for sure, so Carrie should move up at least 2 spots (by passing Clay and Jason). If Brad starts tumbling, she could move up more, but we're only 2 days into the week so it's hard to tell. But I agree, the top spot should be Carrie's either late this month or early August. I'd say 2 weeks should be easy, but I wouldn't be surprised if she gets 3. I'd also go so far to say that there's a slight chance she could get a 4th week, but again I'm betting in the 2-3 week stay at the top. After her, it'll be interesting as Keith and ZBB are coming up fast, and Jerrod Niemann looks like he could hold his own as well...all 3 songs certainly have #1 potential..

OK, finally good to know that this is top 5. I was afraid that this would suffer the same fate that Til Summer Comes Around did (recently).

I would love to see Clay Walker get a #1 this time. He has not seen the top in a baker's dozen years. On my list of those with the most #1 hits, he would move from #84 to #73. Go Clay!

Keith's song was a great ballad, obviously, but some more uptempo-type songs were able to pass it up. No one has passed Carrie as far as I see. With her song only being 12 weeks old, she has plenty of time to hit the top and not really anyone to worry about from behind.

Carrie Underwood has a better track record than Keith Urban... most likely because in a small handful of women that get played on radio, Carrie Underwood is the go-to gal
I don't think any of her songs should have trouble getting higher than #5; thus far she's never peaked lower than #2

^Keith's track record is among the elite, but Carrie is in a situation that no one else has been in before. She won American Idol thanks to her killer pipes, and she's shown that she can write and sing extremely well. Sometimes she sounds a bit "pop-ish" (like on "Undo It"), but she definitely belongs in the country genre, having grown up in small town Oklahoma and listening to country while growing up. She is very gorgeous and talented and she has built a huge fan base. Eventually she will probably have a single peak lower than #2, but I don't see it happening any time in the near future. She could easily go down as one of the biggest hitmakers in country music history at the rate she's going, and I, for one, think she's still growing as an artist. I'm excited for her future! I think she could take a big step in the right direction by releasing "Someday When I Stop Loving You" as the 4th single from her album, of course after "Undo It" spends a couple weeks at the top... :)

I've read somewhere that her next single was likely to be "Someday When I Stop Loving You," I really hope so! Easily the most solidly country song on the album... reminds me of Dolly Parton's "The Grass Is Blue" =)
And I'm well aware that Keith Urban has a great track record, but he's had singles peak lower than #1 and #2... Carrie Underwood hasn't, and it just doesn't seem likely for that to happen anytime soon

I agree that Someday When I Stop Loving You should be the next single and am glad to hear that it might be next. A few days ago, I was trying to visualize what kind of video she should make for it and so far, all I've got was something similar to Kellie's Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You vid except taking place in the middle of an open field in front of a downright gorgeous sunset. If the video's awesome, then it might end up being her biggest country hit to date.
Another possibilty for the 4th single could be What Can I Say, but to me I'd infinitely prefer Someday... because I can see the former stalling at #3 or 2 on MB and also I can't get into it like almost everyone else is.

What I enjoy about Carrie is her ability to mix it up and allow herself to appeal to the widest group of fans as possible. I don't care for this song (it is my least favorite Carrie Underwood song she has released) but she has such a strong catalog of singles already released that I am not too upset with it. "Someday When I Stop Loving You" is more of my kind of Carrie Underwood song, so I do hope it is the next single.

Undo It is not the best song by a mile, but it's the most upbeat/rock/pop song from the album. If she releases SWISLY, that will be her best tradional country song to date. jmo

I have a feeling "What Can I Say" will be the next single, but if it's SWISLY, that would be awesome too. I think the video for the song should be something plain and simple, just like the song. I just love the simplicity of the song. No high notes or over-doing anything, just Carrie singing in a low, simple tone.
I hope the video isn't overly-produced. Something where we just see Carrie there singing the song. Maybe in a field or something as mentioned earlier. We don't even need to see a guy in the video, just Carrie. That would be my idea of a video for SWISLY.

"What Can I Say" is good, but I don't feel like that song is a good single release from either an artistic standpoint (like SWISLY) nor does it seem like it would make a good radio song
Oh, and I think that the fifth single should be "Play On" =) Its def the best up-tempo on the record, IMHO

This looks like it could go number one very soon - possibly next week, as Mike said.
I didn't really care for SWISLY at first, but I've grown to love it - the song has gotten a ton of critical acclaim and I think this is quite possibly her best "traditional sounding" country song yet. I hope it's the next single.
