"is used to juggling roles as mother, wife and musical icon. Now she ADDS(WTF?) another to the list -- headliner at Caesars Palace" What do they mean by that? She was all three during her first run. They can't even get the facts right.

Is she recording another album or what? As far as we know, yes, but there's been very little confirmation as to what and when; the current rumor is that there will be a new English album in November. I think her tour is on break in a couple weeks and she's supposedly recording then...or something.

If she's gonna record it would be nice if she tweeked a few things, and worked with some fresh newer producers but still give your signature Celine.

news.yahoo.com/police-man-broke-celine-dions-home-031230375.htmlPolice say man broke in to Celine Dion's homeMONTREAL (AP) — A 36-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly broke into singer Celine Dion's home near Montreal, raided the fridge and even took the time to pour himself a bath, police said Tuesday. He was nabbed by police in the Montreal suburb of Laval on Monday afternoon after the alarm system went off. The international pop superstar and her husband, Rene Angelil, were not at home at the time. Dion and Angelil usually live in Florida but use the Laval residence when they come home to Quebec. Laval police spokesman Franco Di Genova said the suspect was getting ready to take a nice hot bath when police arrived with a canine unit. "He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge," Di Genova said. Di Genova said police worked their way through the house, starting with the basement and finally confronted the man on the main floor. "The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: 'Hey, guys what are you doing here?'" Di Genova said. "So the officers replied: 'What are you doing here?' and they proceeded to put him under arrest." Di Genova said the man had jumped a fence to get on the property and used a garage door opener that he found in an unlocked vehicle to gain access to the luxury residence. Daniel Bedard, a Laval resident, was arraigned Tuesday on charges including breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage. Di Genova said there was another incident at Dion's mansion in 2009 when another man jumped the fence, but was stopped by the security firm that was keeping an eye on the property before he could enter the home.

Céline Dion to record English and French albums, not ruling out fourth child
Sadly, I will not be able to write my angry 'Waiting for Céline' column blasting the superstar for standing me up. Céline Dion did indeed stand me up Tuesday but she came through Friday afternoon and was happy to chat with me for a half-hour on her way to the airport in New York after performing Thursday night in Central Park with Andrea Bocelli.
You'll get all the details in my feature in The Gazette Saturday, Oct. 1 but I figured it’s only fair to give you a little advance taste ahead of the game to satisfy your insatiable hunger for Celine news.
First-off, there are new English and French albums on the way, with the album in the language of Barbra due spring, 2012 and the French one a bit later. Dion and husband/manager René Angélil told me the English album will contain several songs from the new Las Vegas show, including her cover of the old Janis Ian hit "At 17."
Angélil also said the English disc will definitely include her version of Jacques Brel’s standard "Ne Me Quitte Pas," which draws a standing O nightly in Vegas, and, probably, her rendition of Journey's "Open Arms," which is the show’s opening number. They are just starting to discuss what direction to take for the Franco album.
Earlier in the week, I had a blog about Dion's remarks in the OWN documentary (airing in Canada Oct. 2) suggesting she might consider having a fourth child. Those comments come right at the end of the special (a show she has yet to see apparently). So I asked - Do you want to have another kid?
"I would love that," said Dion. "For sure. You never know. Never put an X on something that might happen again. We don't know what the future holds for us. Who knows?"
But is there any time frame?
"No. Well obviously women's cyle of life for having children..."
And that's right when our cell-phone connection broke down. But Dion – who's 43, if you’re wondering – was back a minute later and we talked about a bunch of other stuff. But you'll have to wait to read about that. - Montreal Gazette

Considering TC sold scanned over 1MM, Celine is AC's Sade. Looking at her SoundScan numbers overall - simply amazing. (Even Miracle is close to 1MM.) Looking forward to this next era.

Dion records two songs for new album
Celine Dion has recorded two songs of her first studio album in four-and-a-half years and hopes to release it in May.
Her husband/manager Rene Angelil, in weekend interviews with Vegas Confidential, said she is scheduled to resume her recording Jan. 31 in Florida and will likely put the finishing touches on the album at the Palms Recording Studios.
One of the songs will be a cover of Janis Ian 's "At 17," which Dion sings in her show at Caesars Palace .
She started recording in November.
Angelil said it will be the 52nd album for the recording artist, who has sold more than 200 million albums. She has recorded 27 in French and 24 in English. A French album will be out at the end of the year, he said. Her "Taking Chances" album debuted in November 2007.
Babyface produced "At 17" for Dion. Angelil declined to discuss specifics about the other recording. The album title has not been determined, he said.
Angelil has told other media outlets that the album will feature her take on Jacques Brel classic "Ne me quitte pas" ("If You Go Away") and her version of Journey's "Open Arms," which she sings in the opener of her Las Vegas show.
It's shaping up as an eventful year for the duo. A multiyear extension is rumored to be in the works with Caesars Palace and Angelil has a movie coming out.
He plays the godfather of a crime syndicate in the upcoming French movie "Omerta," which is being released in July.
"It's kind of like 'The Sopranos,' " he said. "It was a big TV series on French TV and now they are making a movie ."
During a backstage interview with Celine on Saturday, I brought up the subject of his crime boss role.
She couldn't resist teasing him.
She said the French show producers told him, " 'Don't change anything. We don't want you to act. Just be yourself.' So what does that mean?"

He told me that Celine's upcoming English album is focusing on tracks from the Vegas show (we already know that "Open Arms" and "At 17" are confirmed) and that there hasn't been a lot of effort in searching out original material to balance out the project... unfortunately. As well, he said that Celine & Rene consider recording at this point a cursory obligation to Sony, given that releasing albums makes little money for most artists... that the real pay-off is performing -- a la the Vegas contract. Chris said that Celine is very content in Vegas and that she has little interest in hits or charts... that she is focused on the kids and doing her thing at Caesar's... and continuing to love it. - Source

Eh. Guess I'll look forward to the French album more than the covers[/i] English one. (I think "Ne me quitte pas" was confirmed for the English album as well.) p.s. I like how people on CDF equate "she's not doing what I want" to "I don't think Céline even knows what she wants anymore, and René is awful"

She has 27 french albums and 24 english albums? What is Rene smoking? Or have I actually missed that much in the last ten years?

If so, he's probably including all of the compilations that they keep releasing every year or so.

Let's make a list of all of her English albums and organize them based on what they are. (I realize wikipedia has likely already done this but humour me )

Haus - Wikipedia has 27 French albums, including French Xmas, live, lots of compilations from 80s, etc. The English albums don't add up to those numbers. Anyway, I'm surprised the Celine and team don't care about albums considering that she sells a ton - even TC crossed the 1M mark. I wish they'd get rid of the 20-25% songwriting share. It's a shame that songs like Is Nothing Sacred got cut. (That would have been a centerpiece of Let's Talk About Love.)

English Albums:
Unison (1991) Celine Dion (1992) The Colour of My Love (1993) Falling Into You (1996) Let's Talk About Love (1997) These Are Special Times (1998) All The Way: A Decade of Song (1999)* The Collector's Series: Volume 1 (2000)* A New Day Has Come (2002) One Heart (2003) A New Day: Live in Las Vegas** (2004) Miracle (2004) Taking Chances (2007) My Love: Essential Collection* (2008) Taking Chances: World Tour** (2010)
Most of those they were saying are probably re-hashes of other albums. There's a "Celine Dion Goes to the Movies" which is an EP of MHWGO, BYLM, WIFIL & B&TB. The Ultimate Collection was re-released last year with 7 additional songs, none were new. Unless they're counting Live in Paris & Au Coeur Du Stade, which were mostly live albums with a few English songs thrown in.
Celine actually did record 9 French albums before she recorded Unison.

^ I know, can you imagine the sales if the label did things correctly? LOL. (Double Diamond, haha) I'm still a sucker for Tell Him. It's high-camp.

Not that it failed for them in the long run for the album so maybe they were waiting for My Heart Will Go On to actually take things from there but even still, did Tell Him do well on any radio format back then? Plus, having multiple singles in multiple countries but only having one proper followup (which wasn't even a Canadian single so Canada didn't really get anything else) was odd to me as well. I think Let's Talk About Love is a pretty solid album that could have gotten her a few more hits. Aw well, it's still a multi-million selling album.

It charted on AC, Top 5, I think, but underperformed considering her prowess on AC at the time, and also considering the pedigree of the single (Celine+Babs+David Foster+Walter Afanasieff). Too many cooks in the kitchen I think. It's still an interesting listen, just because it EXISTS.

It went 21-9-5 on AC and that's where it peaked. Obviously the album still did very well but of course we all know why.

LTAB - what a mess in promotion. TH is just ridiculous. I know what they were trying to do, but as the follow-up to FIY - the song was the wrong direction. Clearly they were saved, but remember Titanic had so much negative buzz ahead of it because of production delays, overruns, that this could've been a huge miss. The fact that they pulled TLYM as the third single (which is a great song) meant they had to go backwards since it was a commercial in Japan years before.

TLYM should have been the first single, no questions asked. The song was already getting played on several stations as an import including KIIS and Y100. TLYM/MHWGO could have been comparable in success to Fantasy/OSD had they released that first (and a little earlier).

Celine Dion’s vocal cords will go on
Quebec singer Celine Dion says she will recover from a virus that caused inflammation in her vocal cords by mid-April, when she is scheduled to return to recording songs for upcoming English and French albums. Last month, Dion announced she was cancelling her shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas until June 9 because of the viral infection, which weakened her right vocal cord.
"During this recovery period, so many fans, many of whom were inconvenienced by the cancelled shows, have posted kind words of encouragement on my website. I'm so grateful for their thoughts and their support," Dion said in a statement Monday morning, after a follow-up examination with her Los Angeles Doctor.
At the beginning of April, Dion will start training again with her vocal coach, William Riley.
