Sheryl Crow's seventh studio album, "100 Miles From Memphis," is due for release July 20. The first single, "Summer Day," was just revealed earlier today, and can be heard here (FB login apparently required).

I like the cover. It looks very.... Stevie Nicks, Mary Chapin Carpenter. I'm hoping it has an old-country flair to it. Sheryl is still as sexy as ever!

Listening to the album right now--you have to sign up for a three-day free trial first, though. :/

^I was thinking about the lack of promotion for this when I sampled it yesterday. I think she's at the point in her career where she's simply making music to make it and now that she has a 2nd son to take care of, naturally the music will take a backseat.
That said, I'd like to believe she could pull in 100k first week off of her name and fan base alone but I see this debuting in the 50-60k range.

In the midst of the diva wars and constantly-locked threads, it's nice to see that people are taking the time to make threads for artists like Cheryl. When I was in HS, I always kinda thought she was cool and liked her singles like "Strong Enough", "Everyday Is A Winding Road", "All I Wanna Do", etc. I bought her Greatest Hits when it came out and got more familiar with her other stuff, after I stopped paying attention. Then, I bought Wildflower and LOVED IT. That album is so beautiful and interesting and Detours was also amazing, due to the dark, angriness and heartbreak (Diamond Ring is just...WOW). Anyway, the new album is a departure but I like it. Very groovy. Her cover of Sideways is sexy, as is Sign Your Name. The single is great. Stop is magnificent. Roses and Moonlight is so sensual but then, you get to I Want You Back and... She sounds JUST LIKE MICHAEL! No wonder he hired her as a background vocalist. It's scary at times. She did the song justice and it was nice of her to cover it. I just have a growing respect for this woman. She has been in the industry for so long, has paid her dues, writes her songs and plays instruments. Of course, having 9 Grammys can't hurt either.

This is a great album, and nothing like her older releases. It's very soulful- it almost reminds me of the Amy Winehouse album, in that there are lots of horns and it sounds old-school. And yes, she sounds EXACTLY like Michael Jackson on the I Want You Back cover.

I hope she does good with this, she is great. All she has to do is promote, and if HotAc and AC plays her stuff i think she'll be fine. It would be nice if her music could some how do something on Pop radio. I wonder if she'll get country airplay.

So sad that it has only done 165k. This album is great, although it has fallen off my radar I guess. I guess the second single didn't do much?

^^ I think Sign Your Name was supposed to be the second single. I guess it didn't make a blip. This IS a really good album, you are right about that. I think some people were thrown by it, because it's a departure for her - she's been roots-rock/country-ish and this album is all old-school soul w/ horns etc.
