Saints & Angels and Backseat are her 2 weakest singles, IMO.

^I thought Backseat was one of her best, along with Shame About That, No Place That Far, A Real Fine Place to Start and Suds in the Bucket. Those are probably my five favorites of hers.

I just listened to the clip and was completely underwhelmed . I know alot of you are big fans and are happy to be getting new material from Sara. But I just don't hear (from the short clip, granted) , this being a huge "comeback" single. Seems quite vanilla to my ears. I'm in the same boat, Lumpster. My impressions from the 1:30 clip (thanks to Hunter Moffett for the link) are that it sounds very much (actually, too much) like something Hillary Scott would sing and that the lyrics don't dig deeply enough if this is meant to be a statement about what Sara went through during her divorce. To me, the lyrics feel only blandly inspirational as a consequence. The melody reminds me in places of "American Honey" (which I know Hillary Scott didn't co-write) and therefore Josh Turner's "Everything Is Fine," as well as Little Big Town's "A Little More You," which suggests some hit potential. But I think that "Stronger" would have done well to follow the "American Honey" playbook by sticking to a rootsy production instead of going full bore during the chorus.

I saw nothing wrong with the chorus production... it didn't seem nearly as over-the-top as "Feels Just Like a Love Song" was, even though I really didn't find fault in that like a lot of people did
I like power ballads, and this could easily become one of my favorites. I prefer up-tempo music, so if they're gonna go w/ the ballad route then I'd prefer one with a little flare.
Still, what I really can't wait is to have my hands on "What That Drink Cost Me" ... that there is like the third installment of "Three Chords and the Truth" & "Cheatin'" ... love it!

Video to be shot in Nashville on August 2nd! Do you have a news story or anything about this you can link to? But great news anyway! I'm so so so glad to know that 100% the time is coming for Sara Evans to come back at last.

Is the song title definitely just "Stronger", or is it "A Little Bit Stronger"?

All kidding aside, this sounds like it could be a hit song--as long as Sara can escape the shuffle. She hasn't had a big hit in a while, so that does worry me a bit. But if RCA backs her, and this song gets into the top 40, I can see it taking off. Usually songs don't sound as good live as they do in studio, but the live video on page 1 of this thread sounds really good. Excellent production, lyrics sound good, and Sara sounds as good as ever. I really hope this does well. I'm on the bandwagon, just like a lot of others here are (seems I've read mostly good feedback and now I see why).
Just one question...will Hillary Scott sing background vocals on the radio version, or do we not know that yet? I was unclear on previous posts regarding that...and not that background vocalists are always heard, but if you know what you're listening for you can hear them quite often...

Didn't see the songwriters posted (aside from Hillary Scott): LITTLE BIT STRONGER Writers: Hillary Scott, Hillary Lindsey, Luke Laird So it's either "Stronger", "Little Bit Stronger", or "A Little Bit Stronger." One of those. At least until it's referred as "Bit Stronger" somewhere. I could definitely hear Hillary Scott singing this song, and the melody does remind me of American Honey in places, probably due to the shared writer. Hillary Lindsey songs are all starting to run together for me, but it's miles better than Feels Just Like a Love Song and I hope it does well enough for Sara since I'm looking forward to a new album from her.

I like the ring of "A Little Bit Stronger," since the song title of simply "Stronger" is so over-done.
@jhomes: I think RCA Records is going to make sure this takes off, because they haven't had a ton of single success w/ their country artists lately, aside from Chris Young's two #1 hits.

^Yeah, I agree RCA will probably push it. But radio needs to respond. I'd like to think they will, but then again there are a ton of good songs that just don't do well for whatever reason. I don't see middle ground for this one--either it does poorly (not top 40), or once it hits top 40 it'll keep chuggin along and possibly be her first top 10 in a long time. I'd prefer the latter route. I think Danny Gokey has a big hit on his hands, and Chris Young's "Voices" can hopefully go top 10 (it might be hindered a bit since it is a re-release), so that leads me to believe that, given the proper promotion and attention, Sara's song should climb if radio embraces it. RCA is a big enough label to get this one moving up the charts as long as radio embraces it...if it doesn't do well, RCA won't have much of an excuse unless it was clear that radio maybe didn't latch on...I think it will tho.

I think it will too, and I think there's signs that it will be embraced by radio, since a lot of people have mentioned that satellite radio is eating the song up already. With this song being featured on the soundtrack to Tim McGraw's upcoming film and mention of her getting the music video done soon, I think everything looks like its falling into place for her. If there's a female artist who can make a comeback, visually and vocally I believe Sara Evans can do it.

Sirius Radio's THE HIGHWAY tweets, I believe it — they've been spinning the cheese out of this song. I'm not sure if this will be a #1 hit, but I think it could get Sara back into the top 10...

I heard it twice this morning while waiting to hear the Sugarland song on XM. It's going be one of those that grow on me for sure. I felt that way with Backseat, Tonight and Niagara. I ended up loving them all after awhile.

Also, the video shoot for "A Little Bit Stronger" is today! Can't wait to see that. I wonder if Sara will be focus point? Or if they'll hire an actress to tell a story?

Also, the video shoot for "A Little Bit Stronger" is today! Can't wait to see that. I wonder if Sara will be focus point? Or if they'll hire an actress to tell a story? I hope that Sara's the main focus. She proved to me in "As If" that she doesn't need an actress, that she can get along doin' it just fine herself. Plus, she's drop-dead gorgeous, so more face time for her is good in my book. I'm really glad they're shooting the music video for it now, so I don't have to wait too long hopefully. =) EDIT: I caved and listened to the single. I knew it was gonna be amazing, but it was even better than I thought. The production in this is really well-done, I love the lite little plucking stuff and then when it builds up, it still sounds restrained, so thats a good thing. It could've been smothered, but they did a perfect job. And not to mention the lyrics are well-written and her voice sounds great.

Wow, I love it!!! I miss her gorgeous voice! I really hope it does well, she deserves it. She reminds me of Miranda Lambert in terms of vocals....very Country twang to it. That seems to be going over well with Country radio right now, so I see this doing well.
This song definately has my support.
