How much has Back To Basics sold in the US? Around 1.7 million.

I think the label is taking forever for single #2 to give radio time to forget Christina's bad publicity. They're probably hoping the Gaga comparisons will die down and all the negative reviews for the album to be forgotten.
Maybe they're trying to start fresh without having to completely scrap the album and send her back to the studio?
That makes sense to me.

anyone else think there might be some big changes at the RCA Music group in the A&R department ? Seems like most of their artists have underperformed or even flopped this year due to poor singles and just overall poor decision making. I can't imagine Barry Weiss is too happy.

Seems like a likely strategy. BUT I can't see it working. The longer they wait the farther this album will drop, if it slides too far down it won't recover.

there are only two scenarios either like bigbluenote said they are waiting for the storm to pass and start fresh with a new single OR they have already given up on this era and are possibly waiting for burlesque to reignite some interest.
Does any one else think the tour is still happening. imo, no chance.

I just don't get it though, when is the last time a major pop star released an album and only had ONE single released from it? I don't see why they would give up after only one single.
I used to think people would exaggerate how bad RCA was... but I think they're right.

Was it really pushed by RCA though? It seems like they just threw it up to radio and hoped for the best. They didn't even release the music video they shot for it.

So then it was a Hail Mary single. Throw it up and hope for the best.
I don't call that a real single.

Not every RCA artist flopped this past year. Look at ke$ha. She's selling her Garbage Trash Chic and her fans are recycling it. So sadly Bionic is less than trash ..... tragic

Daughtry has somehow managed to sell over a million copies of their CD, and they're on RCA.

Yup Ke$ha, Kings Of Leon and those other names mentioed all had good sales. Even had #1 singles. Christina is just at a point in her career that when she changes her style so much it just gets tired and boring. And when you look at her she really IS trying to look like GaGa. I saw her makeup at the NBA finals and she looked like she stole those eyebrows from lady gaga in her telephone video.

What hurts Christina more than anything is the combination of the lengthy amount of time between her eras and lack of continuity. Her contemporaries release albums more frequently and tend to "evolve" rather than morph into completely different people for each era.

Is the album worth buying? I've always enjoyed her album voice. I'd do a pity purchase for Xtina if that helps her.

If you like radio friendly stuff, the album isn't for you. If you like slightly left of center stuff, it's an interesting album.

I really don't think they hoped for the best when they threw "Sober" out there. I think they wanted to show Kelly that her music direction was a flop and that she should've listened to them and intentionally decided not to help "Sober" get somewhere.

I think its taking so long to choose the next single because theyre deciding whether to even release another. There is pretty bad publicity surrounding this whole project. Its unlikely theyre going to release anything from this album at this point and have radio and the general public do a 180.

^unless she does a song with Rihanna. And try to re create a better Telephone. I think Rihanna and her would make a good collabo especially a desnudate or prima donna remix.

She was to get the most popular star possible, so it's easily Kelly Kelly is not as commercial friendly and radio ready as Rihanna. Plus she cant dance what are they gonna do in the video stand and stare . Kelly is not an uptempo/dance artist.
