To whom would they market them to? Taylor fans who actively follow Taylor *might* check them out but on principle likely wouldn’t be invested in them, not to mention the insanely negative attention they’d receive from reissuing recordings without Taylor’s blessing, especially since she’s releasing them her way. It would be a direct act of (musical) war and there’d be no way to paint it as anything other than that. It just wouldn’t go over well in any way, shape or form. True, true. I just find it kind of weird that whoever owns the masters (I can't keep track anymore) is pretty much just rolling over and declaring defeat. At this point, I expect them to sell the masters back to her with a significant discount if they don't have any intention of actually doing anything with her catalogue. We've already seen that the TV re-recordings decimate the originals in streams and sales, and of course these are the versions she's choosing to be licensed. Well allegedly the current owners are preparing to sue Scooby for misrepresenting the value of her masters and leading them to believe she was bluffing on her threat to rerecord. But that's just a rumour.

I imagine they will go the same route with Speak Now and do “Enchanted”, especially since the singles from that era really aren’t even memorable in terms of her singles discography. There’s really not much that would draw someone from pushing “Mean” or “Mine” new re-records. Taylor is casting the music video for Enchanted as we speak!

^ Yes, it also benefitted from all sales counting the minute they're made instead of only counting once they ship. Swifites claim bundles made up for less than 60k of sales but I have no idea if that's true.
On the flip side, folklore was only available for sale on her online store the first week. It wasn't available at other retailers until week two.

165k for Red (TV) would be a significantly higher second week than folklore (135k). Great hold.

My understanding is they don't give the award to retroactively credited writers? I'm pretty sure Tom Petty didn't get anything for Stay With Me, for example. Oh ok. For some reason I thought Swift was added retroactively as well. Taylor and Jack were always credited as songwriters for "1 step forward, 3 steps back" as it samples "New Year's Day." Taylor, Jack, and St. Vincent were retroactively added as songwriters for "Deja Vu" because of the "Cruel Summer" interpolation. St. Vincent is included in the AOTY nominees, so... I dunno.

She could/should be mad about the SOTY snub (especially with Bad Habits and Peaches somehow getting in there) but otherwise an AOTY nom is nothing to complain about.

He had a huge year so not surprised by the nominations overall, but Anyone and Lonely could have been left out.

Taylor technically nets two nominations in AOTY as she's credited for Sour.

Is this Taylor's first album that missed a genre album nomination since her debut? She paid evermore dust so not super surprising I guess, but it deserved better!

She deserved some noms for the Revival era tbh (and the Bad Liar/Fetish era!!!), but glad she finally got one.

At the very least, this finally frees up Adele from such big commercial expectations from hereon. She still does great but not just something out of this world which is fine really. Lorde did say that Melodrama 'underperforming' helped free her of heightened expectations and let her enjoy herself more. Unfortunately, that led to her releasing Solar Power next, but...

Let's see if they can work some magic to get it past 1 million, but the 800k region is where I always kind of saw it landing. Still fantastic numbers that very few (if any) could reach right now.

It's a new version with a different arrangement. Just an easy way to give Amazon an exclusive I guess.

Fine Spotify numbers, and honestly not far from what I personally expected after the similarly fine opening numbers for EOM (in the US). Her power was always going to be physicals, let's see if HDD gives an update later today.

It's on All Access if anyone wants to listen. It sounds the same to me just with background vocals from Chris.
