KBIG in L.A. has been playing this pretty much every day and it looks there's a great chance they will officially add it this week. Last I looked, LLWD was still the most spun song at that station, so I'd think once they officially add it they will up the number of spins they are giving it
Also, it is up to #90 on the pop chart now. Goes for pop adds this week

I think #90 on the Pop chart before it's even been sent for adds isn't bad. Tuesday will be interesting to see if any big Top 40 stations add it

Anyone know if this song is getting any spins in any radio format? I tried checking on yes.com, but all that shows is 2 spins from Thursday -- nothing since then

I am having major withdrawal pains over the fact that Mediabase still isn't updated. What was supposed to be a downtime of 12-24 hours has now stretched into more than 4 days. I need updates, GAH

Has anyone heard when Mediabase is going to start updating this stuff again? Wasn't it supposed to be down 12-24 hours because of the changeover to a different server? It's been 4 days already.

Why isn't mediabase updating HAC? :\ mediabase isn't updating anything in any format. they are in the process of transferrign their data to some server in Texas. I read it might not be until Sunday that people will be able to get updates again

no we know if anyone has spun this today? I looked on yes.com, but they are just showing 2 spins from yesterday (and I heard it actually got somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 spins yesterday). with mediabase being down, it's hard to keep up with this stuff!

The advantage is, besides the advance and the money from the tour, she gets released on a major label while being backed by powerful management, and has access to the kind of national TV and print media that any other new artist wouldn't normally get near until after they have a smash hit. She will likely meet many high powered behind the scenes people all over the industry, especially in radio, as well as a host of professional songwriters and producers. She will likely get a publishing deal. Crystal will get to play shows all over the country promoting her record therefore getting a chance to grow a fanbase through touring. She will make personal appearances that pay nice money to sing for some big corporation's employees, etc. Even if she flops after the year is up, she can go back to Ohio with enough money to buy a nice house big enough for her, her son and her dad to live very comfortably. She can set up a trust fund for her kid and buy some studio equipment. If she gets dropped, she will be able to record her own album and put it out on her own label, and will have enough name recognition to do a small tour in support of it. She would make enough money selling even 10,000 albums where she owns the masters that she could support her family. Crystal would be nuts not to stick with 19/Jive for at least a year, IMO. As a second place finisher in her situation it makes no sense to do anything else. Yeah, as long as these people manage their money wisely and don't trust unsavory business advisers, etc. the ones who finish in the Top 2 on AI should be decently off in terms of finances even if they don't hit it big or even get dropped by their label. Most of them will never become truly rich -- few musicians in general could be called rich -- but they should be able to live comfortably. For instance, Adam is going to be able to buy a house here in L.A. when he decides to do that, and Kris has already bought land in Arkansas to build a home on. So Crystal should be able to give herself and her family a nice life no matter what.

THAT was so much better. That better be what he ends up releasing. he already released the single To follow up on my last post, Idol releases the winner's single hours after the finale airs. So the version that is up on iTunes is -- for better or worse -- the version of Beautiful Day that is Lee's single.

Kris and the band were fantastic this morning. WPLJ live streamed the whole concert and parts of it were even shown on one of the NYC t.v. stations. And the DJs RAVED about Kris's performance. They are estimating there were around 10,000 people at this event, which I guess is the station's kickoff party for the summer? Anyway, a nice way for Kris to start his tour...

Kris is playing the WPLJ Summer Kickoff down at the Jersey Shore early this morning. The radio station is streaming the show live right now and there are evidently like 10000 people there. So this is another good gig for Kris. I wouldn't want to be doing a gig at 7 am, but whatever

LLWD was a slow burner that really started to sell well once it got a ton of radio airplay AND the music video was released. The MV was in the Top 10 on VH1 for a long time and hit #1 on the Top 20 countdown 2 or 3 times. Every weekend after that show aired, LLWD went up the iTunes chart. That couldn't be a total coincidence.
Unfortunately, Kris hasn't filmed a MV for this single and who knows if he will. His tour starts tomorrow and he has pretty much no time off for the next 3 months. If they can squeeze a MV shoot in there, it will likely be a rush job sometime in the next few weeks.

The Truth is at #134 (album version)/#891 (single version) on iTunes right now. Kris's album, meanwhile, is now #95 on the iTunes overall chart. Which is a big bump -- it was in danger of falling out of the Top 1000 a few days ago. Of course a big bump in album sales on iTunes usuallymeans less than 2000 in extra sales, but still...a bump is a bump

This is #3 on iTunes now. I doubt it'll get to #1 because California Gurls holds that top spot and it's a new enough song to still be selling like crazy

Just because Jive makes profit for them, the company, doesn't mean it is good for the artist. Whatever. We can look forward to Crystal Bowersox ft. Susan Boyle. Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta both made over 1.5 million dollars this year, being signed to Jive. Jordin had an album that underperformed and David didn't have anything released, besides his Christmas album, which, sold what? 250k max, which is pretty good for a Christmas album. I'm sure they're not complaining :) And Kris has made more than 1.7 million, according to the updated Forbes article. Although some of that was from winner's perks. Jive seems more likely than RCA to turn a profit on artists that don't sell huge numbers of albums, because they don't tend to spend as much on promotion, etc. as RCA seems to. In turn, the recent Idols signed to Jive seem to do ok financially.

Jive just seems like an odd fit for Crystal. Most of their top selling artists are pop or pop/r&b types. Which isn't really the market Crystal's music fits in. I worry that they will try and change her and force her into a mainstream pop thing which wouldn't suit her. Doesn't Sony have any labels that cater to more adult, indie style music?

They are talking about the Winner's singles, and its not like the projections are that far off for last year's. Relax. Nobody is getting dropped. It's not like I actually care but frankly, Kris' coronation single had the lowest sales so far and Jordin's had the second lowest.. and if we look at the AI winners albums sales what do we get? Kris' debut album has the lowest sales so far from all AI winners and Jordin's debut album had the second lowest (or did she pass Fantasia? I didn't follow AI in season 3..) so the coronation singles do give some indication on the projected album sales imo. I don't think those numbers are right -- I saw a report on USA Today way back in the fall that said NoBo had sold more than 300K. The article is also incorrect in saying NoBo was the first coronation that failed to crack the Top 10 on the BB Hot 100 -- Jordin's coronation single topped out at #15 on that chart. So this article may not be the best source to use.

LOL yeah, but I think that's how they usual do it, no? I remember Cook was the first last year. Yep- Kris's performance was handled exactly the same way returning winners have always been handled in the finales- first, quick, and with no fanfare. Can't blame the lack of an Idol bump on this- it's just a crappy song. Not quite -- Ryan actually interviewed David after he performed on the Idol finale last season. Asked him about his tour, his album, etc. Kris just got shooed off stage as soon as he finished singing. The main similarity is that they bother performed early in the show.

Most of Kris's hardcore fans bought the single when it was released a couple of weeks ago, so he didn' have that group to help give him a bump this time around. Still, from off the charts entirely to in the low-mid 100's on iTunes is still a nice bump. And his album has gotten a good bump on iTunes as well
More importantly, it's getting spins on a bunch of big market stations now, which will likely be more of a help than the AI appearance. It would be nice, though, if he'd perform this on Leno or letterman or Fallon...

Crystal is so much more taletned than Lee it isn't funny. Why TPTB decided to pimp a guy who can't sing on key live and lacks any sort of interesting personality is a mystery to me. I guess they decided Crystal's music isn't commercial enough.
And they could have a point. She's very talnted but she's not real mainstream. Neither she nor Lee are likely to do much on the pop charts -- this single will never even get sent to that format -- it will live or die on country, AC and (MAYBE) AAA formats. Lee meanwhile has no pop vibe to him at all -- if he's going to be successful, he's eitehr going to go the Hot AC route or hope against hope that Alt Rock/AAA stations are finally get over their years-long aversion to playing anything Idol related. Otherwise, he's toast.

Probably, although the cover version is pretty bad.
I'm not a fan -- dude can't sing on-key live. But I know lots of people who think he's got a unique tone and rave about his pre-Idol stuff. So we'll see how this does.

Also KBIG, the Hot AC station is L.A. is now spinning The Truth. I just heard it on the radio a minute ago...and this is the 3rd straight day they've played it. So I bet they officially add it next week. That station loves Kris (they even had him do a week as a guest dj) and still plays LLWD a ton, so if they do add it they will likely put it into fairly heavy rotation pretty quickly.

Kris did a really nice performance of The Truth on the Idol finale tonight, and the result is that both the single and his album have gotten a big boost on iTunes. The Truth is at #246 overall (#92 pop) when it was out of the Top 1000 the other day, and the album, which had been in the 500's, is now up to #161 overall and #28 pop

David Cook and Kris Allen are both WAY more talented than Lee. So it will be Lee who suffers in comparison if they release stuff at the same time. He's already at a handicap in that S9 has a much smaller audience to draw from than either of the previous 2 seasons -- the ratings were well down and the number of people who cared enough to vote dropped off a cliff.
Lee seems like a decent enough guy, but he simply cannot sing live without going off-key for large chunks of his performances. His recorded performances are a lot better, but will people really accept a rock/pop guy who needs auto-tune? The r&b/hip-hop types seem more likely to be able to get away than someone who is a rock/pop artist
Finally, his cover version of Beautiful Day is really bad. I'm not a big fan of the original version, but Lee just murders it. However, since even No Boundaries charted decently (#11 on BB Hot 100), this will probably do ok.

Kris gave a really nice performance on the Idol finale. Nice of the stupid director to leave Ryan's mike open for the first couple lines of the song, though (jeez)
Both The Truth and Kris's album have gottn boosts from the performance. TT is up to #246 on overall and #92 on pop chart on iTunes -- it was out of the Top 1000 on the overall list the other day. Meanhile the album, which I think was in the 500's on the overall chart has moved up to #161 -- and #28 on pop chart
