Where did all this about having only three singles come from? is it just a rumor or is it real? (spare me the Rumor Has It jokes)

I find it fascinating how Demi Lovato is nowhere to be seen on this countdown. I know her present album is nothing particularly special overall worth boasting about, but there's no doubt its lead single, "Skyscraper", really struck a nerve upon its release: making the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and also receiving mild-to-moderate Adult Top 40 play. Even "Skyscraper" is nowhere to be seen. Looks like a snub to me, especially when a far more understated ballad, "Someone Like You", made the fold. * I also found it astonishing "Back To December" was Taylor Swift's best-charting year-end track. I find it one of her most ambitious singles to date lyrically. Granted "The Story of Us" wasn't a mainstream hit, but then again about three-fifths of the tracks on the countdown aren't either, and the latter just strikes me as that type of song most likely to resonate to Radio Disney's core audience, which is made up of suburban family households, especially pre-adolescents of both genders (teenage girls more, but pre-teenage boys make up a sizable chunk too) and their mothers who desire a "safer" alternative to Mainstream Top 40. Then again, I don't listen to Radio Disney habitually and only tune in briefly time to time out of curiosity, so shows what I know. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS Yeah Disney isnt backing Demi much this era, i suspect it has something to do with her quitting her TV show, it couldve pissed off the execs at Disney. im not sure though, they just didnt seem to do much for Demi this time around.

I had a look to see what i could find on the US sales of WTSGD, and it seems its like 450k-ish, i mean it was 76 in the year end charts on billboard and no.75 had sold 460k according to billboard as well. so i would imagine hers would be around 450k. Also what i found intersting was AYWR sold more this year than WTSGD as it placed like 10 higher on the year end chart. WTSGD is at 523,000 as of earlier this week. thats actually a good number! hopefully it will stay consistent with LYLAS and HTL which can keep the era going. i can see it floating around the 40's and 50's for a few more months like her other albums did.

ahh, good to know it could still have a chance to be her first top 20 US hit! I wonder what the album sales are like in the US for WTSGD and worldwide for that matter ive never seen any worldwide info on any of her albums, will the first two be like 1,000,000 world wide each or something? they do have some certifications besides the US and Canada.

I think HTL will keep going until April/May depending on when its adds date is, then she needs a new single come July and a new album in September, I think she needs to release quickly and before 4th quarter as im not sure how she'd fare against all the competition then, especially since 4th quarter seems to be uncharted territory for HWR, as they seem to just stick to summer releases. also I think if she waits until 2013 the momentum she's picked up on radio might be gone, she needs to strike while the iron's hot. also if she waits that long people might start to forget about her.
I can see this dropping in mid/early Jan and be off by late February, so HWR might give HTL a late feb adds date or early march?

just noticed something:
Hilary Duff: 2001 get disney tv show (make into film after 2 years) two years later release first studio album. one year later release clothing line, release second album, star in film based on childrens book. one year later release third album. one year later release perfume.
Selena Gomez: 2007 get disney tv show (make into film after 2 years) two years later release first studio album. one year later release clothing line, release second album, star in film based on childrens book. one year later release third album. one year later release perfume.
Other similarities: Star in a film based on Cinderella. Star in a film where you go to Europe and are mistaken for a famous person but you carry on as them. Have your highest peaking UK single at no7.
( I was clutching at straws on that last one with the UK chart thing ;) )

Selena is just getting started. I think she's going to keep growing in success and her music looks to be getting much better: When the Sun Goes Down is head-and-shoulders above her first two efforts, with no real obvious filler songs taking up space. She'll almost certainly put a new album out next year, as she seems intent on cranking them out on a yearly basis. I don't know about that. I agree that each album has progressively gotten better, but there are a couple of filler/bad tracks on WTSGD. I'm probably a part of the minority who finds AYWR to be not too far behind or equal to WTSGD. I do have one peeve though. When will they allow HWR artists these days to NOT name the album after a song on the album. A Year Without Rain, Can't Be Tamed, Unbroken, When The Sun Goes Down, Don't Forget, Kiss & Tell, Here We Go Again, the list goes on. It's ridiculous. Maybe she's the new Rihanna! :o This > Naturally. I can't believe I didn't like this at first. I blame the terrible GMA performance of this that introduced me to the song. Maybe she could have a self-titled album like hilary duff, thats the only album i could think of which isnt named after a song on HWR lol. and as for that rihanna comment, il have you know selena releases them quicker than rihanna, Selena pulled out 3 albums in the space of 22 months, but rihanna had 3 out within 24 months! I don't think she'll keep growing though because in another year or something a new Disney kid will be on the scene and all HWR efforts will go to the new kid, leaving selena with little marketing or effort. yeah she grew this year because there wasnt any other teen star really big at that moment as miley was becoming too racy, and her publicity was increased by JB but apart from that i think selena is going to decline in popularity once this new kid comes out of disney, its kind of a shame but thats the way it goes, and selena knows that hence why shes always saying shel stick to acting later, once shes no longer popular she wont want to make any more albums, because they wont sell and she wont make money from them so there's really no incentive for her to do it.

Well, Bieber is in a different league than Miley and Hilary and even Selena. Justin isn't a Disney star firstly, and he's not on Hollywood Records, which is the main reason the starlets you named only last about five years. And really, Miley isn't gone, she just hasn't done anything. Whereas with Hilary she wasn't finding success, Miley just isn't doing anything. I believe with Selena, she's going to be the big break through. She's not polarizing like Hilary, or a trouble maker like Miley. She just needs enough strength to outlast her contract with Hollywood Records, and then she jump shark to a new label and really take off. well as for Miley, her last album flopped so.. and its hilary the one who wasnt really doing anything only indie movies she stopped doing music after HWR contract ended. plus i dont think Selena will sign again to another label, shes always talking about how she's going to focus on acting in the future and i imagine that means after HWR its over for her - i think she knows her popular time will be up soon and she's cashing in on a music career while she can, which i dont blame her for. Justin is in a different league, kind of i mean Miley was just as popular as him when she started, but anyway i predict that he will have his 5 years like the rest of them, once his fanbase out grow him they will move on to the new kid out, i mean he might not even last that long (jonas brothers 07 - 09)

I'm just saying 1- that could help her get past the 5 year curse thing, and 2- dating him, becoming more popular, and getting some hit music out there could help her stay relevant on her own in a few years. yeah well i hope she does stay popular but the big risk with her dating justin is that his fans are so crazy if they break up she will get so much hate! If she keeps dating JB, though, that will keep her much more relevant. true true, by my calculations bieber will remain relevant until 2014. although obviously these calculations are very loosly based and can be broken!

I have a feeling Selena will be huge in 2012. hmmm im not so sure shel be huge, its sad that itl be her last year of popularity as a teen star as it will be her fifth year which is generally how long teen stars remain really popular, (see Miley Cyrus 2006 - 2011, Hilary Duff 2001 - 2006) plus she'l only have one song out HTL, unless she makes a new album for later this year, but i wouldnt be surprised if she waited until 2013 for her next studio album, then 2014 for a greatest hits and then thats it her music career over.

Fail at this countdown that lists the most contorversial moments in music for 2011 and has included Britney's whole 'OMG she has a fake gun near where someone was shot lets ask her for money' debacle. then again they also included Selena Gomez painting a horse pink or whatever, so im guessing there wasn't many really controversial moments in music this year. music.uk.msn.com/christmas/controversial-moments-in-music-2011#image=16

cant believe how well this has done! i hope it keeps going, the best part is that its so consistant that it might take a long time to fall off the hot100 since its peaked this week it might even take like 10 more weeks to fall off.

Ok i understand that +128 spins means it has increased that much since the previous day right? and AI is audience impression so when that has a plus it means more people listened to it since the previous day, but what is a bullet? ive been wondering this for a while lol.. when people post updates i usually just read the responses to it to see if it was a good update, so can anyone help me?

i dont see why record labels dont just pay it though, its not that much and its nice for the artist to have the certification and also gives the public more info on how much it has sold

I dont mean to be negative or anything but i think she will take time off and release 1st quater of 2013, i just cant see her releasing another album so quickly - i know she has said that its coming sooner than you think and that shes working hard and stuff but i cant get my hopes up for a release next year, because i predict it will keep getting pushed back a lot of times.
