Wow, Seems like a lot of people are Pressed over RiRi
She will be a remembered artist but still has ways to go before she is even on Yonka's Level.
All i can say is GaGa in one ERA has already surpassed Riri.

i want to say that most of her career is like Rihanna feat. >>>> or >>>feat. Rihanna
too many for 5 years of career..........!
im not hating her but there's no comparisson with MC, escpecialy her same 5 first years.
but... no one of you said anything about her cd sales.......

My opinion on wikipedia:
For non-music items, generally pretty good, especially when they are backed up with sources.
Wikipedia, when it comes to music artists amounts to a fan page written by a fan. Some things may be based in fact and some things said are opinions of the author

^ It's not really a GaGa vs Rihanna debate at all.... it's more like finding a middle ground between the Rihanna haters (who underestimate her career and impact) and the Rihanna stans (who put here right there with Aretha ).
Like I said I put here with Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, etc. And this is not a diss. Maybe today all these artists fame and careers are long gone, but they were big in their time, and HAD an impact on popular music.

I think putting Rihanna in with someone like Ashanti is a bit outrageous. I mean, since debuting the girl has put in more #1 & hits than anybody else. Since 2005, I believe only Madonna has managed to surpass the combined total of her worldwide albums sold in that time period. Girl has put in her numbers.
While she's not quite on the level of Beyonce or Britney quite yet obviously, she's definitely established herself as a force that's more than a "fad" like Ashanti or JLo.
Personally, I think the most comparable career to Rihanna is someone like P!nk.

>>I really don't think she struggles. GGGB was a huge seller by the time it was done and everyone knows that was her real international breakout album. But it took 8 singles to achieve those sales and that is after a re-release. I agree that it is her breakout album but for all of the hits she achieved...2x platinum after a re-release And don't question the fanbase, (I'm scared of you... :o ) Rihanna has herself a very loyal one, she always does great in Europe and Canada it was only the US that she struggled in so that doesn't speak for fanbase at all. >>US her main market #1 albums (0), # of multiplatinum albums 1, number of albums to struggle to hit or surpass platinum (3) Gaga numbers at any point during her career would have been more understandable. The fact she successfully sold out Madison Square and Staples Center etc is great to me as I always thought she should have been doing much smaller shows first, she really has not taken the time to build herself a proper audience in the US so to jump on a limb with the arenas was hasty to me... >>That's great I didn't know. See I am mixed on that. On one hand, it is great to sell out those well known venues but then if you can't sell out unknown in smaller city markets but can sell out a couple in markets that offer more promo then IDk. When I hear an artist with #1 hits sell out an entire tour...that is remarkable. She has swag >>that's for sure. She should share it some other artist that need that extra something[/quote] Back to the charts... Now that TD has finally achieved #1 it might be boring for the next few weeks. What major artists are releasing in the next two months? Maroon 5 (Sept) Taylor (Oct)...

Look here at this little avatar Now take it in... she is 22. From a little island who came to the US and as it is BLACK female artists must work twice as hard to get that pop relevancy and mainstream glory... I am no racist but it comes much much easier for white female artists like Katy, Britney GaGa, Ke$ha etc. as you will see a black female artist can do the exact same thing but they're hustle is a lot more intense before reaching that international pop star status, even Beyonce had to grind her ass with DC before becoming the household name she is and can you name many black female artists who are always in the pop relevancy category other then Beyonce and Rihanna? Point is, Rihanna works hard and she's accomplished a lot. Still here I see a lot of belittlement on her part, at the end of the day her status is way up there and sure there's lots that could be better but putting her in low-level categories is so out of line... I wanna see what will happen when she's 30 cause there is no way in my mind this bitch is going anywhere. Time after time when people say she won't be around she's around.. how much more will it take. I just know she's ready to MURDER this era and Only Girl has been released an hour ago and it's already zooming... sit back and enjoy.

Rihanna is talented but she also is lucky enough to have one of the best teams in the biz. I don't think OG will debut @ #1, but it will get there.

That said, I guess we'll have a couple of more days of this until some sales figures come out and we can comment on that.

What do you mean the race card? IT'S A FACT! I'm not racist nor am I accusing anyone else but don't act like it's just a coincidence that you can't name more then two leading premiere black females in the pop game...brush it off if you will, but don't sit here and act like I'm making it all up.
Not like I'm acting like that's the reason for Rihanna's short-comings career wise at all cause it really isn't but in general that statement is true.
btw
RIHANNA - Only Girl (In The World): 22.292 (+ 4.018)
whos doing the update today? i dont know where to find it all...

Boo, count to ten...too pressed When did we have a conversation about the bold information above? It looks as though with 20+ in audience impression she will debut before the single is released. Expect a huge jump in two weeks.

Ha, the first page or two of this thread focused on Chris Brown and the rest has focused on Rihanna. Been awhile since I've seen this many pages before the chart comes out. Especially without Beyonce, GaGa, Britney, or Mariah moving up the chart.
