Bruno will be #1 next week too, but we'll see "Like a G6," "Only Girl," or even Nelly surge in sales in coming weeks while Bruno will tail off a bit and that's when he'll be overtaken. At this point, he's not moving 280-300k per week like Eminem and Katy Perry with CG were, so he's vulnerable to being overtaken.

Plus what is he going to do about "Grenade" are they releasing it any time soon?

Brought to you by itunes whith every performance available as a single. Not a statistic I personally have much of an interest in Glee will be #1 by a lot long before they are done UGH! I wish they'd change the rule. No song should hit the Hot 100 unless it's being promoted to radio. Glee songs are not promoted on the radio but they are promoted on TV, and I don't see why it should be considered any different. That's a different case from album tracks that are not released as singles, which is not Glee's case.

Because TV plays are not factored into the Hot 100, but radio is hence, radio promotion should be the factor. I feel the same about artists who have blockbuster albums. 3-4 songs may hit the Hot 100 for a couple weeks and then die off. I don't think they should allow that either. The Hot 100 should go back to being a SINGLES chart and not a SONGS chart. If kept like it is, some records will NEVER be broken (Whitney's 7 consecutive #1s) and some are being broken too easily (charted Hot 100 singles)

i wouldn't count it out yet. The video still has to be released and we saw what the video for "Love The Way You Lie" did for sales. That will also probably booster airplay. I think it could manage to pull it off. Possible..yes...probable..no

Shouldn't the most popular songs - regardless - appear on the Hot 100?

Stretching the images of popularity bars, and thereby stretching the page, does not make it easier to read them.

Looks like Only Girl isnt gonna be #1 on Hot100 but with the way its moving it should easily go #1 on pop It most likely will be #1 on the Hot 100.

They were promoted on TV and released as singles to match the promotion. When Taylor Swift had a handful of songs on the Hot 100, those were album tracks. They were never released as singles.

Well, not according to iTunes. Some songs are credited as singles, album tracks aren't.
But you've probably noticed it before.

If you can buy a stand alone song at itunes, it is a "single"
But yes - songs marked "album only" would be the exception here

See these:
Empire State of Mind (Glee Cast Version) by Glee Cast from the album Empire State of Mind (Glee Cast Version) - Single Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) by Katy Perry from the album Teenage Dream (Deluxe Edition)
ESOM is marked as single. Last Friday Night was never released and promoted as a single, therefore it's not marked as single. Itunes clearly differenciates both cases.

Looks like Rihanna should have held off going digital for a week. She still might do it after the video is released though.

That means what album it comes from, if the album has not been released the single will be marked as it comes from itself Buying a single song from itunes is a single, regardless of whether or not it comes from an album

Put it another way - singles chart on the Hot 100, albums do not
Any one stand alone track that you can buy off of itunes is a single and eligle to chart (and subject to age rules that the Hot 100 has)

Is that your definition then? That all songs that are available on iTunes are singles?

Let's do this differently. How do you define "single"?
Are there songs on the Hot 100 that are not singles? Why?
Why would a single be something other than 1-track that is available for purchase?

Back when physical singles still existed this clear-cut (pre-itunes)
If you could by the stand alone song, it was a single.
Now, everything is a stand-alone song except for isolated "album-only" songs on itunes.
Concept is the same.

Would you say then that Katy Perry has released 14 singles off her new album? Would you count all of them as singles, as they're all avaibable for individual purchase at iTunes?

I would say there is a difference between SINGLES and HITS each track is available for individual purchase but not all will be hits

Let's do this one first If I was to name one, I wouldn't consider Perry's Last Friday Night a single. To me it's just an album track that charted.
