No word on a soundtrack yet, but a couple of people who have seen advanced screenings have said there is no Carrie music in the film, not even in the end credits. So it's not looking like we'll get anything musically from the film, at least not from Carrie.

I'm really shocked that there's a conversation about "quality vs. success". The two aren't related in the least.
Wasn't "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" a success? Does that make it a "quality" song?

I think it is a coincidence you picked Honkytonk Badonkadonk as an example. It peaked at #2 behind Jesus, Take The Wheel.

Success of a song is there for you to see. What's the debate? Quality of a song is a different story. Does the majority rule? Whatever the majority of people on a message board thinks about a song is the rule? Or does a song that connects to you personally, makes you laugh, cry, think, pray, open up, try again...... isn't that song a "quality" song no matter what others think about it. Too many people dismiss their own feeling about music, art, movies, art etc because of what is said by critics, posters, bloggers, chart position, etc. If you love it, embrace it. If you hate it, change channels. jmo

I stumbled upon this past interview (1/22/11) with Mark Bright over at Silk & Denim Music's official site: You took a pop song called Cowboy Casanova and made it into a crossover country hit. What do you think were the key elements that made that happen?
A: As it goes with most Carrie Underwood songs, it was the song. It starts with the most perfect marriage of great lyrics and a great melody. You take all that programming and strip it down, and you have a great song left. Realizing that, Cowboy Casanova, written by Brett James, Mike Elizondo and Carrie Underwood, was set up by many great songs that came before it. So the expectation for Carrie has always been high. She will always need and will have great songs. The song bar has always been high. This song came in at a very high level, and for her purposes, knowing it was going to be the lead off single, we wanted something to really cross the line, but we didn’t want to overshoot it. If it happens to cross over that is fine, but that is something she has never been interested in doing.
She is a country singer and does not want to be anything else. But we want to be edgy in this format. We don’t want to be the vanilla wafer for this genre we really want to always be willing to push it and always give her fans something fresh. So that was the mandate for Cowboy Casanova. Carrie Underwood had done some very wholesome stuff before she was convinced to record Before He Cheats. Some might say that she took a big chance when she did that. It turned out to be a great move, of course. How was the decision made to move in that direction?
A: When we got the song, I must say that one of the biggest attributes that Carrie has is trusting her circle of advisors. She has a close circle of advisors that came to the party with her that are loyal to her, and she is loyal in return. This was not a song that she was comfortable singing lyrically because she says she was not raised that way and would never do those things. But I told her, “I understand you wouldn’t do these things. But you’re a story teller; and it doesn’t have to be your story. It only needs to be executed well.” Then she embraced it and owned it. I never heard a vocal tighter. She sang it and made it her own. This was posted over at the same site and dated December 2, 2010: CARRIE UNDERWOOD WILL BE CUTTING IN 2011 AND IS LOOKING FOR MONSTER HITS. ONLY THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST SONGS PEOPLE!

“I understand you wouldn’t do these things. But you’re a story teller; and it doesn’t have to be your story. It only needs to be executed well.” i dont like mark bright but i think thats a very good advice and if for anything, it needs to be drilled to carrie more. maybe esp with singles? the best songs dont always need to be her own stories, and in most cases, theyre not.

InStyle outtakes: Is that legit? Can we actually submit songs that will be pitched to Carrie? Doesn't seem right lol... Yes, it's very legit. The message is directed at songwriters and just makes it known that Carrie is looking for new material.

This was posted in RowFax's latest listings 5/20/10: Carrie Underwood/Sony**/Mark Bright/August City: Nashville, TN Pitch Preference: CDs Great Christmas songs, please drop off; Sony has requested that these songs not be played during pitch meetings Anyone else think there's still something to this Christmas album? RowFax is a reputable source unlike that MusicGorilla shit we ran with last time. And, Carrie never flat-out denied that she was recording a Christmas album over at the fanclub, she just said it wasn't for last year. What about this year? Maybe it could be like an EP released alongside the 4th album?

I feel like it would be wiser for a Christmas album to come out on a year between albums (example 2010), I don't know, I just thought that was how it was usually done. Maybe she's been working on a Christmas album for a few years now? That would be cool.

Yeah, it would make sense for a regular album to come out late this year and a Christmas album in 2012. But I wouldn't mind a Christmas album this year with a regular album in early-mid 2012.

Then she could tour in the spring/summer like she has stated that she was going to do more than in the fall/winter. I could see that happening with the way Mike's schedule is. She goes on tour when the season is over.

The only question I have if the actual album isn't planned for 2011 is why would they have not sent out a 5th single from PO, especially since the Brad/Carrie duet ("Remind Me") isn't his 2nd single?

I'd imagine that the duet will serve as This Is Country Music's third single. Brad's made it very clear that 'Remind Me' is getting a single release at some point.
I'm thinkin' it will go something like this: 'Remind Me' sent to radio in early June, peaks in mid-late September. The lead single from album #4 is released almost immediately after with album #4 getting a release sometime around mid November to early December. Target will carry a special Christmas edition much like the one we got during the Carnival Ride era. These Christmas songs will be promoted on Carrie Underwood's Second All-Star Holiday Special.
...If it's a full fledged Christmas album then I can't see the fourth album coming 'til like March.

She already has released what 4 Christmas songs? They were bonus tracks. I would love a Christmas album from her as long as it's done right. I'm very picky w/ my Christmas music!

I'd like a Christmas album in 2012. I want this new album to come out as fast as it can, but not pushing it to a point where it's not good. I want them to take their time, but manage the time wisely enough so it's released on the same tracking as SH, CR, and PO (late 2011, basically).

I don't know if I can handle waiting until early 2012 for Carrie's next album! Hopefully the Christmas album won't affect her 4th album from coming out this fall.

As much as I want a standard 4th album, I also want a full Christmas album from Carrie, and not just some bonus Christmas songs tacked onto one of her albums as a Target or Wal-Mart exclusive again. Carrie has such a great voice for Christmas songs, it would be a shame if she never released an actual Christmas album itself. I am also very picky with my Christmas music, and I want them to actually take time to make a classic Christmas album of great quality, with some original songs in there too. I'm talking Mariah Carey Christmas album quality here (not her newest Christmas album though, that was a disaster).
I would not mind getting that full Christmas album this year, as long as her regular album comes out shortly afterward, like March of 2012 as someone mentioned above.

What is everyones favorote Carrie CD? easily Carnival Ride I can never fully decide. Some Hearts has the best singles, but I think Carnival Ride and Play On have better album tracks. Although more recently, I've been starting to like some of the album tracks from Some Hearts. I guess for now if I had to choose I would pick Some Hearts lol.

I can't pick a favorite Carrie album. Instead, I form my ideal Carrie album.
Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts Play On on Carnival Rides"
Disc 1:
1: Wasted 2: Some Hearts 3: Jesus Take the Wheel 4: The Night Before (Life Goes On) 6: Before He Cheats 7: Starts With Goodbye 8: I Just Can't Live a Lie 9: Whenever You Remember 10: All-American Girl 11: So Small 12: Just A Dream 13: I Know You Won't
Disc:
14: Last Name 15: You Won't Find This 16: I Told You So 17: Cowboy Casanova 18: Change 19: Undo It 20: Someday When I Stop Loving You 21: Temporary Home 22: Look At Me 23: Unapologize 24: What Can I Say 25: Play On 26: I Ain't In Checotah Anymore
This probably makes a Greatest Hits rather than an album... but If these were released all at once, I wouldn't complain. Maybe add recordings of "Alone", "Angels Brought Me Here", and "Oklahoma Wind" and I'd probably die....

Glad to finally have confirmation that she'll be performing on the ACM's. I hope it's a full Carrie performance, and not just part of a medley with other artists.

^ Agree. I'd absolutely hate to see her sing a tribute. After the snubs, the least they can do is get her a full performance slot. But what will she perform?
