Carrie posted on the FC messageboard. She's not recording a Christmas album.
It was pretty much a sure thing that she would be invited to perform. After all, they always use her for ratings even though she's supposedly not "entertaining" enough. The only scenario where she doesn't perform is if they invited her and she said no. I gotta admit, there's a part of me that wishes she gave them the middle finger, said some choice words, and boycotted... but then again, Carrie has always been more classy than me. And it's not really the ACM organizers' fault.
What the heck is she gonna perform? Please not SLT! I do think it's gonna be a full performance slot. The ACMs don't really do group tributes. And the duet tribute she did with Brad before was in addition to a full performance.

But what will she perform? I'd love to have a televised performance of 'How Great Thou Art'. Carrie posted on the FC messageboard. She's not recording a Christmas album. It's nice to have that confirmed confirmed.

But what will she perform? I'd love to have a televised performance of 'How Great Thou Art'. Oh great idea! I'd LOVE that. Either that or SWISLY. Or something even greater than we can imagine right now... like performing Oklahoma Wind or MFP or LtMA and then releasing a b-sides EP of previously unreleased co-written songs

That's awesome that its finally confirmed that Carrie's going to be performing on the A.c.m's. I, like some of you wants to know what Carrie is performing it could be SLT or WCIS or something new but i doudt that though but never said never :). Do you guys hear that Ryan Seacrest is going to be at the ACM's presenting and wonder what he will present? (Maybe Carrie? or FVOTY trophy? or something else?) Carrie is going to be on that George Bush special tonight, Taped for Next Monday and wondering what Carrie is going to be singing?

She should do the JTTW/HGTA medley. And then they should immediately after present her with her 4th Female Vocalist trophy.
OR
An acoustic version of "Someday When I Stop Loving You" and/or "What Can I Say"
OR
A new song
Those three options would kill me.

She already performed that on last year's CMAs with Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. If it's an album cut, I hope it's SWISLY or WCIS. However, I wouldn't be opposed to a new song at all. And I've been dying to see a TV performance of the JTTW/HGTA medley, but I can't think of any reason why they would choose to do that, as great as it would be.

I think Carrie singing a new song isn't happening. It would be too far away from her album release.

Hmmm...
*Regardless of the airplay it's getting, I don't think she'll do "Songs Like This" because she did it at the CMAs with Brad and Keith. *I don't think she'll do her #1s medley from the PO era because she did that at the CMT Artists of the Year special. *She has no new single.
I'm really, really, really, really, really hoping for a WCIS performance. If not that, then SWISLY would obviously be the next best thing.
And then after that, give her the FVOTY since they screwed her out of the EOTY nod.
By the way, they announced Ryan Seacrest as a presenter. Would there potentially be any connection between him presenting something for/to Carrie? Home Depot Humanitarian Award? Presenting her performance? Maybe some sort of ACM Crystal Milestone Award that they're now handing out? Just some possibilities...

^ Agree. I'd absolutely hate to see her sing a tribute. What's wrong with a tribute? Carrie always knocks those out of the park. Make The World Go Away with Brad was incredible and made some of her skeptics take notice. Not to take anything away from her own music, but I feel like these tributes every now and then are needed to show the country community that Carrie can do different styles of country music. I'll gladly take that over a performance of any of her past singles (and please not a medley!). As far as new songs go, unless she plans on releasing the 4th album in the summer, she most definitely won't be singing the lead single from that album. It's possible she and Brad could be doing Remind Me, but I don't see that happening since Brad has a brand new single that would still be young. As far as remaining album tracks go, the only three I would want to hear are SWISLY, Look At Me, and WCIS. Look At Me is virtually impossible given Carrie's stance on the song (which is a little silly, sorry Carrie). WCIS would require Sons of Sylvia unless someone else joins her or she sings it solo. I don't see either of those two happening, and I don't see Sons of Sylvia being able to perform. SWISLY is the most likely of the three, so I am hoping for that one. I'm not getting my hopes up, though. Unfortunately, I think SLT is the most likely album track to be performed, but I hope it's not (unless that means it's officially going to be released as a single. I wasn't crazy about her SLT performance at the CMA's)! Edit: How Great Thou Art would definitely be incredible, but yea, the chances of that are slim to none.

Anything but Undo It ...please! But, honestly, I think she'll do SWISLY. If we see Sons of Sylvia included as performers, we'll know she's doing WCIS.

It was a highlight on her tour, and it would bring the element of surprise to those who haven't heard it before. It would be amazing, and it's relevant considering she probably won't have new music to promote by then. So why not return to what was a highlight on her Play On tour? Just my opinion, but I don't think it's impossible...

Just my opinion, but I don't think it's impossible... Yes, it was a highlight of the tour, but I don't recall gospel songs ever being performed on a country music award show. Maybe it has happened before, I don't know. I'm sure there are some type of rules that dictate what an artist can and can not sing unless given special permission by the ACM's. Of course, we don't know the details of that. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I do think the chances are very, very small. Her performing a past single or medley, a tribute, or an album track are much more likely.

An acoustic version of "Someday When I Stop Loving You" and/or "What Can I Say" I have been waiting so bloody long for a HQ performance of 'Someday' on a big televised stage. The ACMs would be the absolutely perfect venue, IMO, since this songs shows the softer, more subtle, sensitive facet to Carrie's gorgeous vocals, which haven't been televised much since 'Wheel', IMO.

Does anyone know what song that is she's singing? Gracias Typo. I think the song explains the Elvis-esque outfit. Reminds me of an Elvis song.

I love that she always makes such inspired choices when it comes to cover songs. +1 She actually puts thought into what she's going to sing. Something that actually means something and she can sink her voice into, rather than just picking a random song from he catalog, i.e. this tribute, Brooks & Dunn's tribute ("Neon Moon" -- her backstory of it, as well as how much she loved it), etc.

"Songs Like This" is horrible, couldn't they have chosen a better song to play? During the "Carnival Ride" era they played "The More Boys I Meet" didn't they? What is country radios obsession with playing the horrible album tracks.

www.blogcdn.com/www.theboot.com/media/2011/03/bush-underwood-kennedycenter.jpgCarrie Underwood beamed her 1,000-watt smile as she made her way toward the fans who had gathered Monday night (March 21) outside the main entrance to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Dressed in a stunning, apricot-colored evening gown, Carrie paused to sign autographs and chat with fans before facing the glare of hundreds of photographers' lights on the red carpet, where she was joined by some of her fellow musical icons, along with major political figures and the Washington elite -- all gathered for the Points of Light Foundation tribute show honoring the tireless volunteerism of former president George H.W. Bush. Kid Rock opened the show with 'Born Free.' Carrie performed jaw-dropping renditions of 'Reach Out and Touch' and 'Instant Karma,' while Brad sang 'Try a Little Kindness.' Cee-Lo Green teamed with Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave fame) to sing 'Soul Man.' And Garth closed the almost two hour show with a powerful rendition of 'Lean on Me,' after a heartfelt performance of 'America the Beautiful.' www.theboot.com/2011/03/22/points-of-light-foundation-show-george-bush-carrie-underwood/
