^ Those are still only partial numbers so I don't think you can really draw any conclusions yet. Ditto!

I wonder who will come up on top. I sort of hope M5 does just so they can at least say they have a #1 album with this cd.

Yay @ Maroon 5!!! ZBB will obviously sell more consistently, but it's nice that Maroon 5 can at least get another number 1. Hopefully they'll still be on top when the soundscan numbers are announced.

And sorry but LOL at the lack of Shontelle. The girl has had two fairly decent-big hits, and gets plenty of radio play yet she cannot sell an album if her life depended on it. Even Jessie James and Kristinia DeBarge etc were able to score top 20/30 debut albums off the back of much lesser hits than Shontelle's.
Hopefully it will at least make the top 100

Agreed about M5 and ZBB selling better in the long run.
I don't know how Shontelle missed the top 50 when she only had to sell around 7K. Like, random indie artists can get decent debuts in the top 50 even without hits. I guess she really hasn't connected with an audience yet?

The single has sold what like 1.5 million ish? Surely at least 1/200th of the people that bought the song would buy the album too?

An impressive debut for Jamey Johnson, followed by a modest decline the second week! =)
I'm happy to see "The Guitar Song" off to a fabulous start. It definitely looks like it's a shoo-in in living up to the cult commercial success of its predecessor.

Random question: Does anyone have a list of the biggest second-week % sales drops in Soundscan history?

The Zac Brown Band will definitely be the slow and steady wins the race kind of selling act. Maroon 5, not so much. I think this will be a more short-lived era for them. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

ZBB will easily go Platinum as they have Nickelback-like sales. I think M5 will only go Gold unless they consistently churn-out hits from the album.

ZBB will easily go Platinum as they have Nickelback-like sales. I think M5 will only go Gold unless they consistently churn-out hits from the album. That is a surprisingly accurate comparison, despite the fact their musicianship are pretty much half a world away. Even so, they do appeal to the same blue collar, populist, easy-breezy yet loud-and-proud crowd. I don't believe it's any accident Nickelback invoked Credence Clearwater Revival in their most recent single, as the Zac Brown Born is torn from that same regional musical cloth, and I think Jason Aldean's success, primarily, is also heavily rooted in this same vein. Woo!!! That's a significant lead to think that they'll keep that when Soundscan numbers come out! Nice! Congrats to ZBB on their first #1!

The M5 album could have legs - it sounds full of singles to me. And I was all happy that they were number one until I scrolled further down...wtf?

Has HITS ever altered its final numbers before? I believe so. I couldn't tell you when or with which albums, but I seem to remember it happening before and everyone freaked out and said Hits was "cheating" I actually think soundscan has been altered like this before as well and people flipped all the same. I think sometimes a mistake just slips through.

This week, top 10 sold more copies than the albums that were there last year except for #3 and #10

I hope Fantasia can keep her sales up through the holidays. She's at 230k right now and I want to see this album go gold (which I'm confident that it will). :)
