According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, Adele’s 21 has overtaken Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? to become the UK’s fourth biggest selling album of all-time.

2012 has been an amazing year for Adele: The last twelve months have seen the London born singer pen the theme song to the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, and her record-breaking second album, 21, eclipse the all-time sales of Michael Jackson’s iconic albums Thriller and Bad, and overtake sales of legendary records by Pink Floyd (The Dark Side Of The Moon) and Dire Straits (Brothers In Arms) in the UK.

Now, as the year draws to a close, Adele can add another achievement to her impressive musical CV – overtaking Oasis’ (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? to become the UK’s fourth biggest selling album of all-time.

According to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data, Oasis’ 1995 second album has sold 4,555,000 copies to date, while Adele’s 21 has surged ahead with sales of over 4,562,000 copies. The news comes just over a year since 21 overtook Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black to become the UK's biggest selling album of the 21st Century.

21, which was released in January 2011, has spent 101 weeks in the Official Albums Chart Top 75, including 95 weeks in the Top 40, 75 weeks in the Top 10 and 23 weeks at Number 1. It has sold 784,000 so far this year, making it the second biggest selling album of 2012 so far (behind Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events).

What's also notable is that, unlike 21, the 3 albums ahead of it have been re-released multiple times. That makes 21 is the highest selling album in the UK w/o a re-release.

Couple the regular album with the Live At The Royal Albert Hall CD as a bonus. No matter what she sales her next album she will always have that achievement in her books. I believe I read that she and the label decided not to do that (release "Turning Tables" as a single even though radio PDs expressed interest in playing it) because they didn't want to overload audiences with her so that people would be turned off from later releases. I think it's smart of her to take some time off the air and the public eye while she's at home with the family, and then when she's ready to come back with new music, the audience will be ready and waiting for it.

Correct. They also said that radio was playing enough non-singles on their own without any push from the label so they didn't see a real need to push anything else.

Wow, that's interesting! I kinda wish they would have done it regardless. The American' audience love to be force fed apparently, because Rihanna and Katy Perry are constantly on the radio.

Adele to make post-baby debut at Golden Globes for nominated 'Skyfall' theme

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Adele is coming to the Golden Globes.

The executive producer of the show says the 24-year-old Grammy-winning pop star is set to make her first post-baby appearance at Sunday's ceremony, where she is nominated for original song for the James Bond theme "Skyfall."

Adele welcomed her first child, with boyfriend Simon Konecki, in October. The singer has kept a low profile since announcing her pregnancy in June after sweeping the Grammy Awards last February with six wins.

Her single, "Skyfall," will compete at the Golden Globes with Taylor Swift's song from "The Hunger Games," Jon Bon Jovi's number from "Stand Up Guys," Keith Urban's track from "Act of Valor," and "Suddenly" from "Les Miserables."

The Globes will be presented Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Adele is simply fabulous. I shed a tear when she won. A single tear. Also she could she become the next member of the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) club. All she will have to do is pen a song for a prodution, have it win, and a legend will become cemented in the books.

The singer was ecstatic about her Best Original Song win at the Golden Globes on Sunday night and was happy to talk backstage about James Bond films and sharing an evening with Hollywood's biggest stars.

"My first Bond film that I watched was actually a Pierce Brosnan Bond because I am only 24 so I don’t go back to the classics. It was the one where he was on the speedboat on the Thames. And then Daniel Craig, who is so edgy and he turned the vibe around."

On winning a Golden Globe.
"It's absolutely amazing and quite a thrill and quite hilarious because it is not my field. Although it is mind-boggling to win Grammys, but many amazing actors have these awards so it is very weird, but incredible...I feel a little bit kind of overexcited. It’s my first night out since I had my child. And my inspiration normally comes from heartbreak, but I don’t think I am going to have get devastated again, so that’s good."

On keeping her son's name secret.
"I am not sharing his name at the moment. It is very personal to me and I just want to enjoy him at the moment."

On her favorite song of the year.
"The Gotye song “Somebody That I Used to Know.” It is obviously the biggest song of the year. I just follow the crowd."

On why Simon had to convince her to work on Skyfall.
"Because it is a huge responsibility and a lot of pressure. The pressure was huge and I had a weird, strange, bizarre year with my album “21″ that just shot me to beyond fame, it was ridiculous. And I was pregnant. I had my child about two weeks before the film came out. So it was bad timing."
