Yay! Here's the official press release: BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter Adele will perform the Oscar®-nominated theme song from the latest James Bond movie at the 85th Academy Awards®, the show’s producers announced today. “Skyfall,” from the film of the same name, was announced as a nominee for Original Song at the Academy’s Nominations Announcement on January 10. The song, written by Adele and Paul Epworth, is the first Bond theme ever to debut in Billboard’s Top 10 and the first to be nominated for an Oscar since “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981. Adele’s exclusive Oscar show performance will be the first time she will have performed “Skyfall” anywhere live and will also mark her first U.S. television performance since the Grammys® last year. “It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again,” said Adele. “It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once!” “We have enormous respect for Adele’s unique artistry as a songwriter and a singer,” said Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the producers of this year’s Academy Awards show. “She is currently one of the most successful recording artists in the world, and we believe that her performance of ‘Skyfall’ will be an exciting Oscar moment for audiences watching at the Dolby Theatre™ and on television screens around the world.” Oscar.com celebrates Adele’s performance with a special gallery of some of the most memorable James Bond theme songs through the years: oscar.go.com/photos/themed-galleries/movies/bond-theme-songsOscars for outstanding film achievements of 2012 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 24, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.

At least she's having lots of meetings. I wouldn't expect an album until late next year at the earliest.

I'm hoping for an album by the end of the year. If she actually starts recording this month, she has a plenty of time to record ton of songs.

Paul Grein's Chart Watch blog for the 3/2 Billboard 200:
Adele’s 21 winds up two full years on the chart by rebounding from #22 to #19 in its 104th week. The album has never ranked below #35. The album has sold 10,396,000 copies, which makes it the best-selling album of the last 10 years.
The last album, by release date, to sell more copies is Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me, which has sold 10,910,000 copies since its release in February 2002.
21 is the fifth best-selling album released since January 2000. It trails the Beatles’ 1 (12,159,000), *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached (11,140,000), the aforementioned Come Away With Me (10,910,000) and Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP (10,675,000).

Adele is coming for some more wigs! She's only ~550000 copies from passing Em and Norah.

She'll easily pass Eminem. Between a couple years of sales + boost whenever the next album comes out, she should have no trouble climbing to #2 on this list. #1 could take a while but is very possible.

I think she could eventually surpass the beatles. That is totally crazy. I'm happy to have seen from my living another album selling that much.

Adele made Billboard's Top 40 Moneymakers of 2013 11 Adele $13,906,635.76 Adele continues to ride the wave of the biggest-selling album not just of 2011, but of 2012 as well - 21 is the kind of old-school smash that keeps finding new fans, with staggering physical sales of nearly 4 million units and digital equivalents topping 1.2 million. Adele scales these Moneymaker heights with no help on the touring front in terms of revenue or album promotion. www.billboard.com/articles/list/1549704/musics-top-40-money-makers-2013?list_page=2

Adele, 'Les Miserables' cast sing on Oscar stageBy SANDY COHEN AP Entertainment Writer / February 22, 2013LOS ANGELES (AP) — It was an extra starry, musical day at the Dolby Theatre. Adele took the stage first Friday, followed by the cast of ‘‘Les Miserables,’’ singing together of the first time. Oscar nominees Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, along with co-stars Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham-Carter, Sasha Baron-Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks rehearsed their performances on the Oscar stage. They were backed by members of the musical’s stage productions from London and Broadway. ‘‘Les Miserables’’ director Tom Hooper sat in the front row of the theater as his cast sang. Moments earlier, Adele dazzled the tiny audience of show workers with her performance of the James Bond theme ‘‘Skyfall.’’ ‘‘I need a lot more reverb on me,’’ she said after her first run. ‘‘You might need to get a new reverb machine.’’ The 24-year-old multiple Grammy winner arrived wearing a black tunic, black leggings and flats, with no makeup and her hair in a ponytail. ‘‘I'm going to have very high heels on the night, guys,’’ she announced from the microphone, sipping tea between verses. ‘‘Do you need the dresses?’’ she asked, and a team of stylists brought out the gowns Adele is considering for her Oscar performance. The dress producers favored? ‘‘It’s very heavy — I mean I struggle to stand in it,’’ Adele said. ‘‘Come and feel how heavy it is, so you don’t think I'm a wimp!’’ She performed her Oscar-nominated song five times before leaving the theater. ‘‘It’s been good, yeah?’’ she asked producer Neil Meron, who nodded in approval. Just after Adele wrapped, the star-studded ‘‘Les Miserables’’ cast took the stage. Hathaway chatted with Bonham-Carter as Jackman sang a capella. Then Hathaway checked her microphone with a quick verse. ‘‘Ooh, that was flat,’’ she said. The entire cast assembled for a final run-through when Jackman spontaneously began singing ‘‘My Bonny Lies over the Ocean.’’ ‘‘My bonny lies over my daddy,’’ the ensemble responded, breaking into laughter. Other stars rehearsing Friday included Jennifer Hudson, who is set to perform a song from ‘‘Dreamgirls’’ at Sunday’s ceremony. www.boston.com/ae/movies/2013/02/22/adele-les-miserables-cast-sing-oscar-stage/wNnwq0OhRq4s2l8mCl0M9N/story.htmlCan't wait to see her tomorrow. She'll kill it. Hope she wins the Oscar.

^ She would be the first entertainer known primarily as a singer to achieve a true EGOT. She'd better get working on filming a top-notch TV special and writing a musical

"9 time Grammy Award winner and Academy Award winner, Adele." Damn. It didn't even really dawn on me how many Grammys she already has until I was reading an article a few minutes ago. And "Skyfall" should easily nab her a tenth (Best Song Written for Visual Media), not to mention a possible eleventh for Pop Vocal. Insane.
