Nelly lost her touch with her creative side and as an artist? Azealia Banks says it best. Applying this to Nelly is too easy: I've heard those two songs as well. I'm sorry that you disagree with my opinion, but you must understand that your opinion is exactly that. Nope, I remember that. That was a side project though and certainly nothing that would require keeping up with current popular music. I'm sure Ms. Furtado herself would even admit that. Oh is that clear? I loved her debut. Folklore absolutely amazed me. And yes, I loved Loose as well, so what? That's why I waited patiently for this album and expected to love it too. My expectations have changed. Cool can you tell me what they sound like??

Mi Plan was not a side project. It won a Latin Grammy and was the highest selling latin pop album of 2009 according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Personally I loved Big Hoops and already like SI, which made me even more excited about the album than I was pre-singles. Evidently though, if Nelly wants a hit to promote her album (particularly in the US), she'll need to drop the nasal vocals. Maybe they will release Parking Lot in the US for that purpose.

The point is that Mi Plan was not an English pop music album. She hasn't released music like this in over 6 years now.

She put out three albums in English in a pop style and then released a one-off in a different language, different genre, and with a different promotional strategy geared towards an alternate target demographic. Then she returns back to her original style. That is, by definition, a side project.

Anyway, hopefully Parking Lot really is the US single, the more music of her that is out there from the next album the better. She needs to convince a lot of people as of now that it's worth buying her album.

LOL Nelly losing herself as an artist made me chuckle.
I agree the material is a little lackluster, but the lyrics alone shit on 90% of the US Top 40. Lets not reach now.

^ Wow, amazing video! I think this is beautifully written and the beat is nice, however ugh her voice continues to annoy me just like it did on Big Hoops. It really kinda ruins the song for me, hopefully I'll just get used to it lol.

I'm loving TSI...I think it's far and away better than Big Hoopz. I dunno if it will be a hit in the US, hard to tell...but I def think it has more potential.

I loved the lyric video. :'(
I also love the song. Like Nicole said, it is beautifully written.
Do I think it's going to be a hit? Meh...
...but I don't care. This may indeed be my favorite Furtado offering. The music is really on point for me.

I can't remember the last time a dance song made me want to cry. I really cannot at the majesty of that song and video. I get her when she talks about pairing emotional vocals with these beats. I will stan again for this woman and I need the CD TODAY.

I had to turn my head away from the screen. I just couldn't watch that any more. He is an inspiration though. Goodness.
The song...I got about halfway through it. It's not my type of music. I will say it is catchier in parts that Big Hoops.

The Spirit indestructible is great besides the vocal. I don't understand why her voice is so off this era, she usually sounds good live and has even given fantastic vocals before.

Evidently though, if Nelly wants a hit to promote her album (particularly in the US), she'll need to drop the nasal vocals. Her vocals on both singles so far have been very off-putting to me. They may be okay with her fans but I'm not sure the rest of us will be digging them. I also think Rihanna has a very unique vocal delivery that I absolutely hated at first but even her worst vocals aren't as popularizing as I think the vocals were on this song.

Yeah, if she had sounded this bad when she first came out, we wouldn't even be talking about her today. I'm not sure what has happened. I only know her US singles. "Like A Bird" was nasally but not over the top like these two songs have been.

Meh Nelly has always had a nasally voice, maybe not as nasally as now but I'm ok with it, well I have gotten used to it now after listening to Big Hoops a lot.
However I do find it odd how she's more nasal on the studio recorded versions but live she sounds like she did before.

I really love SI! Beautiful song. I think SI should have been the first single. It has a much stronger hook than BH. Lyrically it is much more creative and feels more like a song she would do. BH really kills on the dancefloor in the clubs though.
