The album sounds fantastic on first listen! It's a nice blend of Folklore and Loose. I don't see much Whoa, Nelly! besides Parking Lot though. Not that I care much because her debut is my least favorite English album by her. Spirit Indestructible, Big Hoops, Parking Lot, Most Beautiful Thing, Waiting For The Night (has to be a single!), Enemy and Believers are my favorites. And we haven't gotten the deluxe edition tracks yet! Anyone else thinks that Bucket List has Alanis Morissette written all over it? Lovin' the Canadian support!

Nelly Furtado folowed her impulses on new albumNelly Furtado is a pretty tough chick to pin down, musically speaking. For a pop star of her stature, anyway, the Victoria-bred, Toronto-based songbird has shown an uncommon willingness to take risks with her sound from album to album. Few would confuse her with P.J. Harvey, no, but no one can accuse Furtado of making the same record twice in an effort to maintain her grip on the pop charts. The pop charts sort of come to her. That’s the way it should be, of course, but the mainstream music business tends to have its own ideas about what a female singer should and shouldn’t be. And, as Furtado tells it, “people tried and definitely failed” to shape her into something she wasn’t when she first bubbled into public view with the mega-hit single “I’m Like a Bird” and the multi-platinum album Whoa, Nelly! 12 years ago. Lucky for her, “I was very, very fiercely aware of who I was, as an individual and as young musician coming into this business,” she says. “I didn’t want to become a statistic.” This coming Tuesday sees the release of Furtado’s fifth album, The Spirit Indestructible. The follow-up to 2009’s Spanish-language album Mi Plan — which was itself a bit of a left turn after the smash success of 2006’s R&B-heavy Loose — it’s the most freewheelingly eclectic assertion of her creative freedom yet, bouncing around between jubilant anthems to love and positivity, hip hop and R&B sizzlers, dancefloor bangers, globally minded ethno-pop tunes and winsome folk ditties with a likeable “I’ll try anything once” spirit. It’s not as consistent as Loose, perhaps, but it’s good to see that Furtado, 33, is still insistent upon keeping things interesting for herself in the studio. “It’s a bit of a double-edged sword because you have to re-find your audience for each album,” she says. “There’s no — what’s the word? — ‘product consistency,’ to put it in really clinical terms. “Unless you’re, like, a diehard fan and you just buy anything I make, otherwise I’m kinda re-finding my audience each time. Which I don’t mind. I mean, I do what I do.” The Spirit Indestructible came together at a relaxed pace, first through here-and-there sessions with such diverse collaborators as Salaam Remi, Bob Rock, and Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos — who informed Furtado that Whoa, Nelly! was his favourite album when he was 10 years old — and then in a more concentrated final push with gadabout A-list producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins behind the boards. “It was really slow. It wasn’t, like, a concerted effort to get in the studio for six months and bang it out. It was more like: ‘Oh, this weekend, I’ll pop into the studio.’ It was kinda like one foot in, one foot out,” says Furtado, who’s also devoted much of the past few years to revelling in “just being a mom at home, not a gypsy mom” to her nine-year-old daughter. “I was really not gonna, like, settle in the studio. It’s not like I usually do, but what’s the point, right, unless you feel like you’ve pushed yourself and challenged yourself? For me, in the studio, I just kinda know when it’s ready to come out, and it didn’t really feel like the project was complete until I met Rodney and we started creating these tracks. “It’s whenever I feel like the tracks are too exciting to be contained by the four walls of the studio, when it feels like the music’s filling up the room and it needs to burst out. That’s what happens to me.” The resulting album — curated from some 50 tracks — is more of a “patchwork, a quilt or a collage” than her other albums, she says, and might disappoint fans looking for another album’s worth of hit singles like “Promiscuous” and “Maneater.” But she’s fine with that. Like the girl says, she does what she does. “I’m proud that I’m still able to still make an album that I feel passionate about, that I still feel creative,” says Furtado, who’ll be making a guest appearance on 90210 this season. “I think in this business it’s really easy to go on autopilot. “If it doesn’t excite me, I’m a really bad liar. I can’t just go on the mic and pretend.” www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/article/1255560--nelly-furtado-folowed-her-impulses-on-new-album

The link i found yesterday was fake but found real one now :). I'm not going to give my thoughts on the song because it will come out the same on almost every song I think, well not exactly the same but repititive, not fun to read. Spirit Indestructible (10/10) Big Hoops (Bigger The Better) (8/10) High Life (8/10) Parking Lot (9/10) Something (8/10) Bucket List (9/10) The Most Beautiful Thing (9/10) Waiting For The Night (9/10) Miracles (8/10) Circles (10/10) PRAISE THE LORD! Enemy (10/10) Believers (10/10) This album is amazing. It's not her best album but it is definitely a second best where Whoa Nelly is on top. Whoa Nelly holds a special place in my heart

I didn't realized this had been pushed back until next week until I went to hmv and it wasn't there. I was going to get it this week but next week has at least five CDs I plan on getting so Nelly might be toward the bottom of that list, if I get it at all.

It's cute how she says "Want another banger?" because Parking Lot isn't all that... it's a shame about her lifeless vocals on that song because the beat is melody is nice. She ain't M.I.A so it doesn't work.

The bonus tracks are freaking amazing. Thoughts gave me major chills.
How the singles should of gone.
Buzz Single "Spirit Indestructible" 1. Hold Up 2. Big Hoops (The Bigger The Better) By this time Hold Up would have smashed hard and everyone would of known shes back again which means Big Hoops would of smashed!!!! 3. Waiting For The Night 4. Parking Lot 5. Believers 6. Bucket List 7. End Of Time

Just listened to the bonus tracks. Not too impressed but that's okay. Anyone else notices no difference between the 2 versions of Thoughts as well?

Really good interview, really makes you understand why she had such a big change for Loose coming off Whoa Nelly & Folklore. She is so real and intelligent. @nellyfurtado "@jessicamethven: @nellyfurtado helfy sings through her nose. @loosewomen #nasal" it's my special talent for nasal singing- it made me famus Lmao love her. Looking at her twitter now you can rly see how she cares about her fans, she retweets people, replies a lot and follows people. Gurl is amazing.

How come Waiting For The Night wasn't the first NOR the second single? What is wrong with her label?

How come Waiting For The Night wasn't the first NOR the second single? What is wrong with her label? Yep I'm confused as well. I love Big Hoops and Spirit Indestructible but Waiting For The Night is a lot more audience and radio friendly. Most people who are new to Nelly have a hard time hearing her more nasal vocals. You do get used to it eventually but most people don't have that kind of time so they hate it on first listen and never listen again. Let's see how Parking Lot does though, has become my fav song of the entire album. I hope it smashes.
