What do they do if two songs have the same amount of points, even with streaming? I asked this before on Billboard Chart Beat Chat and the reply to me was the song who got the more increase in points will get that position and if the case if both songs tied decreased in points, the one with the lesser decrease gets the position

To be fair. Paul declared LTWYL #1 one week premature. So he has been wrong before. LTWYL ended up spending 7 weeks at #1 eventually but Paul gave it to him a week early and was wrong. So i wouldn't take that as official. I've read the first version of his Chart Watch post today and originally it did not say Like a G6 topped the Hot 100 but just saying it sold 2 million already, he updated it a few hours ago with the Hot 100 info and I'm pretty sure it's official since he would not update his post if it weren't official (and he has access with Billboard/Nielsen Soundscan data anyway) plus he also indicated the positions of Only Girl and What's My Name? this week

There is always next week. I think Rihanna really has a strong shot at regaining #1 next week.

There is always next week. I think Rihanna really has a strong shot at regaining #1 next week. I wanted her to be the first lead female to replace herself at #1 this week, but at least she can still set 2 records next week. If she really wants this at #1 she'll perform it at the AMA's instead of just WMN.

I'm hoping Rihanna takes it, it would be amazing for a previous single to be #1 after a single released after it was already #1... that and FEM was already #1 and I like it better than RYG ;) Amazing but not the first time it's been done. The Beatles(yes them again), topped the chart with "She Loves You" right after "I Want To Hold Your Hand" had been #1 for 7 consecutive weeks. "She Loves You" however, was originally released in 1963, before "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was released in Jan 1964. How did this happen? It happened because when EMI was first trying to break the Beatles in America in 1963, they found small independent labels that were willing to release their hit #1 British singles "From Me To You," and "She Loves You" in the US. "She Loves You" in fact, had just set a new record for highest selling British single of all time in 1963, with over a million sold, which for Britain at that time was a phenomenal amount. But they both flopped, and flopped hard when released in the U.S. shortly after. America wasn't ready for the Beatles in 1963. However, when "I Want To Hold Your Hand" became a smash hit in the beginning of 1964, the previous singles by the Beatles that had flopped the first time around were re-released and started to chart for the first time. Soon, as curiosity in the Beatles became full blown Beatlemania, a lot of these older singles became hits for the first time in their own right. And that was how it came to be, that on March 21, 1964, that the older single, "She Loves You," managed to replace the newer one, "I Want To Hold Your Hand," at #1, becoming the FIRST time an artist had replaced themselves at #1 with a previous single release.

Lol, I guess a 1,000 people couldn't be bothered to buy either RYG or OG, this week.
On a positive trivia side note, this year there has been at least a track having spent 1-7 weeks on the top position.
1 - Not Afraid, Break Your Heart, We R Who We R, What's My Name? 2 - Teenage Dream, Imma Be, Nothin' On You 3 - Like A G6 (it won't spend another week at # 1, that's for sure) 4 - Just The Way You Are and OMG 5 - Rude Boy 6 - California Gurls 7 - Love The Way You Lie

"Breath" by Faith Hill, 10 years ago (2000).
Edit:
If we combine digital sales + mediabase airplay, NYN is also no. 1. But I won't be surprised if in the end it goes to "Tik Tok".

Yes, I care about the only non-horrible song in the iTunes T10 right now keeping those other beezies down.
3 new Glee hits, or "hits" as some people would call them. The horrible One Love was one away from hitting the T40.
