This may have already been discussed, but is anybody concerned about what kinda radio edit they will make of this? I mean can u really sing about S&M? Sex in the air...I love the smell of it? Chains and whips excite me?  |

There's an edit of the song where she says "it's in the air, i don't care i like the smell of it". I don't know if it's going to be released though. I believe they've just been playing it as is.

Your individual points are great. However, IMO, put together, that just doesn't work. Like Au$tin said, radio will usually look at the official artist, not the featured artist. So "Memories" and "Who's that Chick?" are by the same artist. They still didn't hurt each other too much, they are different and neither was big, but still, they are both David Guetta songs, so they should've waited a little longer in case radio was dropping one for the other. I agree. It's a good time for "All of the Lights" - if you don't count all the other Rihanna currently in rotation/gaining spins. Kanye's album has been out for a while now, and nothing has done well on pop. "All of the Lights" is the best chance for a hit on the album. It has Rihanna. Everything good. But with so much other Rihanna at the moment, they should've continued to persist with something non-Rihanna, and then maybe in four months, "Who's that Chick?," "Love the Way You Lie" and "Only Girl (In the World)" will be reasonably low, so it'll have more of a chance. Yes, it is a Kanye song not a Rihanna song, but still, waiting gives it a better chance. Yes. "Love the Way You Lie" was, and still is, massive. Which is good for it. Radio are not going to drop it, just like the "Airplanes"/"Magic" situation, it will continue going down slowly unless there's a big "anti-push," or an amazing third single (or an amazingly promoted third single). There's not much to hurt it. Which means, it's basically got itself a % of Rihanna play, which means that new, starting, "to-be-hit" Rihanna songs are hurt. Yes, it is an Eminem song, but it's well known for Rihanna's featuring, most people would think of it as Eminem with/and/featuring/whatever Rihanna, after all its success. So basically, they should've postponed the whole "LOUD" project, to wait for this to leave. Yes, "S&M" should have been waited on. Without the existence of "S&M," there wouldn't be too much problem; "What's My Name?" climbing, "Only Girl" dropping slower, "Who's that Chick?"/ "All of the Lights" doing better, etc. Then they can start "S&M" in a few months and by then, "Who's that Chick?" and "All of the Lights" will probably be dead - let's face it; they're not massive to-be's, and "What's My Name?" will be falling, "Only Girl" might be in the lower 20's, and "Love the Way You Lie" will be lower too. Urgh, I feel like I've said this a million times. I should leave this thread. There are other things to consider bar radio performance. A single can only have so much mileage as far as impacting album sales goes. That's the point of a single. Both WMN and OG have been in rotation for a good few months now, so regardless of any of other songs Rihanna's featured on that are impacting, as far as Loud is concerned, it's time to move on. WTC shouldve been a bonus track on LOUD though :( |
