^^^ Yeah I'm sorry but thats crap. Janet Jackson is not going to be "paying tribute" to Britney Spears. No shade on Britney but that's not going to happen. Jesus himself couldn't get a tribute performance with Madonna, Janet and Gaga. Plus this isn't the BET awards...they don't try to do a million surprise performances in a night. But why are they doing a tribute to Britney? I like her but, come on, she hasn't been around long enough or has she?

The problem is she has no discernible talent, her music has never evolved, and she had no real impact like Madonna and Janet did.

but that's besides the point. The point is probably length of time. If it was 20 years and still no evolution, everyone would still be complaining, and yet Britney would still be churning out hits.
I'll all for this. :) It will make great TV.

She'd find a way to get paid millions even if she were the last person on Earth.
I'm honestly surprised she hasn't put her name on a line of dildos yet.

FUTURES: Andrea Riseborough Talks Madonnaby Nigel M Smith (Updated 19 hours, 51 minutes ago) Next up audiences will see you as Wally Simpson in Madonna’s anticipated second feature “W.E.” How did you come on to the project? I can remember which way it happened, but I can’t remember what the words were. I got a call saying that she’d seen “Margaret Thatcher.” I read the script and I thought it was really something quite unique. It has these two different stories in it. When I read it was almost like I was interested objectively in the film intellectually from a woman’s perspective. In terms of Wallace, I think so little needs to be said. We all know what a phenomenally unique woman she was. [Madonna and I] chatted over tea and then worked together. Really from the outset I felt that we were very complicit. We had this artistic complicity about the project. When she expressed to me her passion for the Duchess’s story and really getting into what she believes to be the truth (and making that into something that was a piece of art), I was just even more excited. You probably get this all the time, but I have to ask…what’s it like working for the Material Girl? I never really know how to answer that question because I approached it like working with any director. For example when I worked with Peter Hall, from being a little whee thing I heard tale after tale about what he would be like. I didn’t know what he was going to be as man. I just know that when I met him I fell in love with him. The same with Mike Leigh. And the same with Madonna. It was like knowing I was going to work with a new director. I can’t really explain it better than that. That’s how I felt. To meet somebody, you can never tell who they’re going to be, what kind of artist they’re going to be. I was excited about working with a new director and it was great working with a female director. I’ve worked with so few female directors. It was a very refreshing to tell a story about an incredible woman and have an incredible woman take your hand and lead you through that. www.indiewire.com/article/2011/08/18/futures_brighton_rocks_andrea_riseborough_talks_madonna_rada_and_her_slew_o

Madonna has 19 #1's WW, and is in the lead. But I don't think the years 1983, 1984, 1985, and 1986 have been calculated yet. How many more do you think she could potentially get?

SPREE, are you talking about the Media Traffic #1s count? I'd think she may have several additional No. 1 contenders. "Papa Don't Preach's" single sleeve pic is shown as the top for 1986, but we'll see how that pans out.

From DigitalSpy
Noel Gallagher has revealed that he wrote one of his new album tracks with Madonna in mind.
The singer-songwriter said that he thought about offering 'AKA... What A Life!', which appears on his upcoming debut album, to the 53-year-old popstar.
Gallagher explained that he also offered the song - described by Something For The Weekend as "a pounding dance track" - up for remix to DJ Fatboy Slim, but the producer declined.
He confessed: "I asked Fatboy Slim to remix the song because I f**king love him. But he said he couldn't do anything with it as it's great.
"I was thinking of the piano from Rhythim Is Rhythim's 'Strings Of Life'. It was very acid house to begin with and so I was thinking of giving it to someone.
"I thought about Madonna then [Noel's wife] Sara said, 'Don't be daft, Madonna won't sing it. When are you likely to see Madonna?' So that spoiled it."
Gallagher added: "It took me back to the Hacienda where, for three years from 1988 to 1990, I practically lived. I loved it and I wanted something to remind me of it.
"But I still wasn't sure so I played it to our office and all the girls loved it. Once girls like it, you're on to a winner."
He concluded: "The song's easily up there with the best things I've ever done."

She has 19 right now, with those 4 years not tallied up yet. Elvis has 12 and is in 2nd place. She could potentially add: Like a Virgin Material Girl Crazy For You Live to Tell Papa Don't Preach Open Your Heart La Isla Bonita True Blue as all #1's. That could potentially put her at 27 #1's, doubling the next person. Will be interesting once they figure everything out.

^OYH and LIB already are covered in 1987. :)
Keep in mind that years 1956-`1958 have yet to be covered, too- Elvis likely will have many No. 1s in that period. And, MT also has to cover 1962-1966- The Beatles. Nonetheless, these three acts enjoyed huge global chart domination.

Still, those 3 would be light years ahead of everyone else.

Sorry, just recently i was interested to search Madonna's past single discography, practically i only knew a few singles from her, all of them are post 1998. And suddenly i discovered Ray Of Light, i never heard it but just now, and I love it! After that i searched Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Live To Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart , Express Yourself, Vogue, I'll Remember, all are great! I decided to listen to her more. Of course so far i searched only her famous singles one by one
So, can you give me a help? What songs (pre 1998) that i should listen, especially her least popular songs which are great? :)

That's the best way to introduce yourself to a new act. If you just want singles for now, "Burning Up" is the highlight of the first album.

I'm trying to listen to all her singles pre 1998, but too many singles to search. So far i have searched some of her famous singles. And I'm currently listening to Justify My Love & Deeper and Deeper, just found them a few minutes ago, also great. :) I never knew that she practically almost only talks and whispers in Justify My Love, great concept, so cool!
So. currently i have: Like A Virgin Material Girl Live To Tell Papa Don't Preach True Blue Open Your Heart La Isla Bonita Like A Prayer Express Yourself Vogue Justify My Love Erotica Deeper and Deeper I'll Remember Secret Take A Bow Human Nature You'll See Don't Cr Fr Me Argentina
As your suggestion, i will go from her debut first, i'm in holiday so i have enough time i guess. Thanks :)

I love "Sooner or Later," but it would not have been a great radio choice- then gain, it probably would have hit the top 10 or top 20, because it was MADONNA. :) "Hanky Panky" snuck into the top 10, after all.
"Time Stood Still" may have received a better reception at U.S. radio than "American Pie," which fizzled rather quickly after the initial 5-6 weeks of hype.

I LOVE "SECRET GARDEN"!!!!
Erotica is my favorite Madonna album of all time and that song was the best way to end that first-time listening experience when I first got it.

This is my personal ultimate Madonna singles discography: Debut Era...... Hard Candy EraHi Botoxic, I actually would like to comment/complement your list of singles, since I lived all the Madonna-mania since I was a little kid already obsessed with the charts in the mid-80s I became a Madonna STAN during the True Blue era, but was already a fan since LAV. I share most of the singles with your list, but have some differences: Madonna EraNo "I Know It". Burning Up was a single especially because of the video, but just few years later when hormones did respond to those stimuli. Like a Virgin EraBack home we had Gambler as an official single for the Summer of 1986 (by the way, it reached #1!). "Over and Over" was heard and hinted as a potential single, but never became popular. +I also liked "Stay" as a single but still never made it in my chart. HOWEVER, the other single this era was + "Sidewalk Talk". Yes, I know it was not 'credited' to Madonna here, but back home in Peru it was presented as "Jellybean & Madonna", and it became a popular song in few radios (not a #1 anywhere but my personal chart ) True Blue EraSince I became a stan here, I had a couple of 'bonus' of my own. I didn't care about your # 20 [Where's the Party] to be honest, but I did care about: + "White Heat" (I thought it was a real gem!) + "Love Makes the World Go Round" (I know it was cheesy, but it had enough Latin flavor to become an easy favorite of mine AND even for my mom who did not care much about Madonna :o) Who's That Girl EraHere I did not know about Spotlight or Santa Baby, but "Can't Stop" did make it to my personal chart Like A Prayer Era+ "'Til Death Do Us Part" was a single back home and reached #4 in the most popular radio station. In my personal chart it was the second biggest hit of the album (after LAP). I LOVE this song! + "Dear Jessie" made it to #3 in my personal chart. Such a cute song! + I didn't include "Promise to Try" as a single + But I did have "Spanish Eyes" as a good final single of the era. I thought it was a real good song, with a lot of Latin influence too, and sang beautifully. Immaculate Dick Era+ "Holiday 1991" was a single in the UK and back home was also slightly pushed as a single. In my personal chart it reached the runner-up spot, much higher than its first run in 1983. + I also include a "Like A Prayer 1991" which re-charted. In many radio stations it also became popular again with the new remix. + Back home a "Megamix" became quite popular during the long weekend party radio shows, and even in some weekday programs. It was a long mix for about 8 minutes. It reached the top in my personal chart + In the Dick Tracy era, a couple of radios promoted "I'm Going Bananas" as a single. It only reached #18 in my personal chart. It was more like a joke song, but I think the fact that it sounded ridiculously Latin helped the song a bit. + "Sooner Or Later" almost charted, especially after the famous performance at the Oscars. However it was just too retro Bedtime Stories Era"Don't Stop" was never a single for me or my country. However, "Inside of Me" became a staple in the main AC radio station back home and it eventually made it in my personal chart. Ray of Light EraIn addition to all the singles you mentioned, I had 2 more: + "Candy Perfume Girl": in fact, I was astonished when I heard this song as a Bonus in a Modern Rock countdown exported from the US :o yup, among songs from like Bush, 311 or Garbage, here there was a Madonna song. The lyrics and production sounded so good that it became a single for me. + "To Have and Not To Hold": the rhythm sounded like a Brazilian/Latin midtempo, so it was a good choice as bonus for my personal chart That's it!! ;)
