Not quite four years, but close enough ;) The two new tracks from Celebration didn't cut it, so this is a fresh, shiny-and-new-music era a-comin'. :)

There's no way there just putting this song on the soundtrack just for the soundtrack to sell...i def see this as a single release to itunes...and maybe a best song nom from the golden globes and oscar's.

Did the Weinstein Co. not submit the track for the Satellite Awards? It wasn't one of the nominees for that one.
Considering the Oscars haven't nominated a Madonna composition, I'd be surprised if it did for this- but, there's a first time for everything, eh? :)

This is just the way i wanted her to start this era!!!!..just listened to it for a 5th time...cant get enough...def her best ballad in my ears since the Evita era. I LOVE IT TOO!! It's exactly what I was hoping for. I feel like I have been waiting forever for a ballad like this. After several listens, I really love it still. It really resonated with me. I love the vocals. I like the tone of her voice on this as it calls to mind her Evita and Ray Of Light era vocals. I loved her range during that period. With the last couple of albums, I started to wonder if we would ever hear that 'voice' again, but clearly it was in there all along. |

HG, do you set your expectations low so that you are pleasantly surprised? She wasn't taken seriously during her early ballads. Did you really expect an Oscar Nod for TUTBMP after frolicking naked everywhere?
Where can I hear the song? It's been taken down, I think.

chartfreak- I do have a tendency to do that for some things. It makes sense that she wouldn't get an Oscar nod after her Sex-capades, but I recall Fred Bronson writing how TUTBMP was the kind of the song the Academy loved and all- that was before the backlash, of course. :)
jump- Madonna as songwriter has received several Globe nominations- "Who's That Girl," "This Used to Be My Playground," "I'll Remember," "Beautiful Stranger" and "Die Another Day." The non-nomination of Live to Tell" may be tied to the fact that it wasn't written specifically for At Close Range.

I listened to it yesterday and had to listen at least 5 times. Enchanting!  I like the verses a lot and her upper tone in the pre-chorus is pure bliss :o The chorus and bridge are good, but a bit disappointing at first listen (a bit lazy tbh, I think she could have gone a lil bit farther in terms of melody). Probably the final mix can help that, though. Looking forward to the final version. It probably won't be a radio hit, but a good song to add to her collection. It does remind me of her RoL ballads (a bit like THONTH). In terms of previous soundtrack songs, I think the closest would be I'll Remember |
