I wonder if Lil Wayne will pass Gaga before the end of year charts come out.

I wonder if Lil Wayne will pass Gaga before the end of year charts come out. I wonder if he will pass Nicki Minaj...I hope not because I want her to be the first female rap artist to have the top selling rap album on the billboard calendar year. Prays he doesn't pass 1.75M by years' end. Nicki is close to 1.6M I think she will clear around 1.8M at least by years' end.

I wonder if Lil Wayne will pass Gaga before the end of year charts come out. I wonder that, too. I don't think it'd be clever to judge based on Wayne's 2nd week, since Gaga's huge fall was due to the whole 1st week thing, which he doesn't have. Also, Gaga has had 3 hits now. If Lil' Wayne manages to score another cross-over radio smash, I'm almost sure he will surpass her. But I guess I'll just wait and see...

10 NEVER SAY NEVER: THE REMIXES (EP) JUSTIN BIEBER 730,331 Wow, he just keeps on selling, huh? Good for him, I guess. I wonder what'll happen to his sales when he decides to ditch his current image and appeal to an older demographic. 25 HELL: THE SEQUEL (EP) BAD MEETS EVIL 515,929 "Lighters" has served them well.

I wish Gaga could hold onto the #2 best selling cd of the year, but I bet Wayne and possibly one other will pass her during the holiday rush.

Not diminishing Britney's success, just pointing out that Katy's sales are not as dismal as some people want to make them out to be. Sure, they may not be smashing or record-breaking, but pushing 2 million is not at all a terrible figure. I'm sure her record company is not complaining at all about how this era turned out.

I agree...this will go double platinum and have 5 #1s and a top 10 at worst...overall successful era...to think if the album actually shifted 700k from the earlier predictions she would be pushing for 3x platinum instead of double.

Circus sold close to 2 million-1.7? 1.8? Pretty good especially since she "only" had two big hits and very little promo. It is a bit surprising to me that with a bit more promo and insane, insane airplay and much better videos she is struggling to hit the 700K mark. Not that I expected her to sell the same as Circus, but I figured we would be closer to the million mark by now. Criminal may help since it is amazing and a bit of a departure from the sound of the first three singles.

Considering Circus sold close to 2 mi, and her past singles have been even more successful, one would expect her sales to be somewhere between 1 mi and 1.5 mi. I don't see any reason for such a steep drop between albums.

I don't see any reason for such a steep drop between albums. Circus debuted in the heat of the holiday season with major hype of Britney's comeback. Also, the "Till The World Ends" and "I Wanna Go" peaked after the release of Femme Fatalle but "Womanizer" was on top at just the right time and "Circus" blew up without any lag time. I think timing was very much on Circus's side.

I don't see any reason for such a steep drop between albums. Britney benefitted greatly by the Holiday season that year - Circus sold 1.1 million of that 1.7 total just in the four weeks of 2008.

And it had the comeback buzz, bigger overall interest and the singles sold better.
Britney has been good with sales, but she's dropped in sales with every album when compared to the last one, except Circus. Take out the huge comeback hype, and media interest, add the fact that she does little promo and to me it seems normal. Maybe the fourth single will help the album as it is supposedly different from the first 3 singles (I haven't heard it yet).

I honestly don't think her team will release another album in the 1sr or 2nd qtr unless she does full on promo. I see 4th q releases of her studio albums at least for here on out. She obviously has a fanbase but they are going to at least make sure her future releases cross the 1m sold not just shipped. At this point it is about adding to her impressive sales of yesterday...she's no eminem still selling 2m+ like its nothing.

Hopefully we can see an all female top 4...nicki will overtake Susan boyle but LOL Wayne might overtake her by years end. Oh well, top 5 album of the year for a first album is great....still wish she could get that #4 position so that she could be the first female rapped to have the #1 rap album of the year. There's always next year.

^Jason Aldean will also pass Nicki.
It'll likely end up
1 21 by Adele 2 Speak Now by Taylor Swift 3 Born This Way by Lady Gaga 4 My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean 5 Tha Carter IV by Lil' Wayne 6 Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj 7 The Gift by Susan Boyle 8 Sigh No More by Mumford & Sons 9 Loud by Rihanna 10 Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
I could see Nicki staying above Lil' Wayne though, depends where TC4 flattens out.
In other news, Mumford & Sons will have the year's #1 rock album! And Kanye will have #3 and #5 on the year's top rap albums.

SINGLES GOING STEADY: It will surprise no one reading this that the best-selling single of 2011 so far is Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” which has moved more than 5.1 million paid downloads. Here’s the Top 10:
Adele, “Rolling in the Deep” – 5.1m Katy Perry f/Kanye West, “E.T.” – 4.6m LMFAO, “Party Rock Anthem” – 3.9m Cee Lo Green, “Fuck You” – 3.5m Pitbull f/Ne-Yo, Afrojack, “Give Me Everything” – 3.3m Lady Gaga, “Born This Way” – 3.3m Jennifer Lopez f/Pitbull, “On the Floor” – 3.1m Rihanna, “S&M” – 2.9m Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes, “Look at Me Now” – 2.9m Black Eyed Peas, “Just Can’t Get Enough” – 2.8m
