If anyone, Minus The Bear is the indie "X the Y" band. Wow at how short this thread is - where are all the Indie people on this board? No one had anything to say about the song that they hadn't already said?

Looks like this could be going Top 3! Still think it would be a good one to send to pop over the summer

It's certainly catchy and upbeat enough for Pop. Part of me is thinking the lyrics could be too disturbing, but then again, does the average CHR listener pay that much attention to lyrics?

^Yeah, I can't figure out whether it would do well on pop or not - it's got a great pop hook, but the lyrics are dark and there's distortion on the vocals

Yeah the vocals don't cut it, and the theme of the lyrics are way too dark. I don't understand why people think this can do well on pop besides satellite radio.

Just dled the album. Really solid. I could see 1 or 2 more singles if this one stays top 5 for a while. "Helena Beat" would be my next choice.

These new band names are annoying the s**t out of me. Foster the People Cage the Elephant Young the Giant Portugal the Man Like, WTF? Yuck. Also the name of a new band.

I do, or I would've a month ago. But I'm kinda burnt on the song now.

I am pretty pleasantly surprised that this has become such a big hit. I know some may disagree, but I really love the direction the format is heading in.

It feels like this has been on the charts longer than it currently is.

I was listening to this album just now, and this band kind of reminds me of Kasabian a bit. The kind of band that is okay and makes good-sounding music, but sounds too much like everything else going on to where I just don't see the point.

I feel like that's a weird thing to say, seeing as how they don't sound like anything else on the charts - maybe they sound like a lot of other underground stuff

There's nothing unique about them. In fact, like I said, they remind me of Kasabian.

Downloaded their album. I like this song but not nearly as much as "Helena Beat" which should clearly be next. I don't get the Mumford & Sons comparisons. I've read Foster the People described as a "SoCal MGMT" and that seems a bit more apt. I will say that I don't think their debut album is nearly as strong as Oracular Spectacular. However, they do have some of the same pop sensibilities MGMT showed with "Electric Feel" and "Time to Pretend."

lol given the fact that f-bomb titles and "S&M" were major CHR/Pop tracks, maybe this wouldn't be the wrong time for a homicidal crossover hit. Then again, I can't believe it when it gets stuck in my head.

This song is awful, but the rest of the album is upbeat and great. However, this group is definitely a flash in the pan. Alternative is in such a state of crap right now.

Just heard this yesterday. I totally thought this was a oldie. It has that Beck-style production and reminds of The Butthole Surfers' "Pepper," but that song was much better.

I don't really see the comparison, but I can see how this would sound like something that would hit big fifteen years ago as well. Anyway, "Pepper" is still one of my favorite songs from the 90s. I'll never get tired of it.

I doubt this'll get #1. It's still behind Rope by quite a bit, and we got "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" charging up, as well as "Walk" (when the decreases from Memorial day end).

You only just heard this yesterday? I just got home from school a couple weeks ago. There isn't a good alternative station anyway near my college.

only about 130 spins behind "Rope". and with Walk officially getting adds this week, I can see this getting at number 1 at least for 1 week.
