Here are the rule/guidelines stickied in that forum for easy reference: pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=polling&action=display&thread=95689&page=1Recently it seems as if rule #4 hasn't been enforced much. The options "You're Still The One" (for song polls) and "Shania Twain" (for artist polls) have been repeated multiple times each day for the past few days. Personally I don't mind (and sorry for contributing to it, I did make one poll that looking back now there was another thread with one of the opinions made that day as well), it but I know there are some others who are getting annoyed with it. Au$tin in particular seems heated about it. See: pulsemusic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=opinion&action=display&thread=103840But I don't think he knows the best way to handle it, so I'm bringing up the issue here so it can hopefully be resolved.

I thought the Polling Booth was divided for discussion polls vs. random/gamey type polls? I think it's lost its meaning!
The main section is filled with random A vs. B vs. C vs. D tournament type face-offs while the "Face Off" section sometimes host "which would make a future better single?" type topics which would be fine in the main section. Perhaps it could be better developed/organized?

Whoops, never even noticed that that had kind of devolved. Any suggestions on improving the organization there (including "merge it back together," I guess) are welcome.

I'd personally recommend all random battles (regardless of number of songs included) in the sub-forum and more discussion based polls (even if it only happens to be two choices) in the main.

As someone who doesn't venture into the Polling Booth that often, can you clarify for me what you mean on the bolded portion above? Is the Usher vs. Ciara thread one such example, where it's about more than just picking a song?

As one of the obvious culprits here, I'd be more than willing to start posting my tournaments somewhere else if you guys think it's necessary. Just let me know :)

That thread falls into the gray area since the "face off" isn't completely random, but at the end of the day it's a "which do you like more?" poll so I guess it could go in the subforum.

I also admittedly only go into the Polling Booth every so often...but what I do tend to notice when I do go in there is that whenever there's a flood of "tournament" polls, those are usually based on the poster's own chart or otherwise the poster's own ranked preferences. That IMO is the root of the problem, that posters will essentially take over the forum for themselves. "Tournament" series of polls need their own forum (probably sub-forum) to be placed in. Shifting them to Personal Charts isn't the answer, because then it's that forum that gets taken over. Without the "tournament" polls in the way, I'd think it'd be much easier for polls that remain to be sorted/distributed properly.

I think a tournament sub-forum would be the best idea. I don't mind them in general, but they do clutter the forum.

Just to follow up with this, I'm going to stop posting my album tournaments for now until the issue is resolved (the song tournaments will continue, unless I'm told otherwise).
I do think a sub-forum for these type of polls is the best solution here.

Dang, it's like as soon as this discussion was bumped the tournament kids came out in droves. It's like the only thing there now?

I think we should reopen this discussion. I was chatting with some other members and they seemed to agree that adding some type of "Tournaments" sub-forum (most likely to the Games forum) would be a great idea to clean up The Polling Booth.
What does everyone else think?
