TO BE CLEAR..I don't think the demand for this song is anywhere near as high so as to warrant a 'top of the hour, every hour' sort of deal. I could see that being the case for BTW, but if stations really do pull that again with this track, I'm gonna have to call some serious Payola. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to hear it, but I'd prefer not to be sick of this song within a week of it's debut like I was with BTW. KIIS FM and Z100 played TTWE at the top of every hour when it came out. It's not a "deal" that's made, they do it for every big artist whenever they debut a new track, and her record hasn't come out and nobody has heard Judas, meaning they'll probably do this for it as well. It's not Payola~ People need a reality check. Gaga is radio's queen right now, anything she releases will get massive airplay and it's not exactly because of Payola, she's worked hard for it putting out hit after hit.

Anyone wish she can just do away with the facial prosthetics. It's not flattering at all on her or anyone! She's wearing a damn shoe on her head in the pic. I don't think she's worried about flattery lol Seriously when has GaGa ever cared about whether what she looks like is flattering? ???

I'm sure she was inspired by the movie Brazil (i was actually wondering when she would start immulating the styles within the movie) as one of the characters in the movie wears a shoe on her head as well. If not then i guess it's just an uncanny coincidence.

Top of the hour again?! Amazing :'( Soooo happy to have a time now It was obvious radio would love it the moment they get it, but if stations are already signing up to play it once an hour, since it's a Tuesday, I think it could beat Born This Way's debut. Not saying it'll get 9,000, but I think it might be able to get something around 5K. #BornToSlay :'(

Here's hoping Judas the song is more instant and better than BTW. Also hope she dances better and the video is good! When was an alien supposed to be "flattering"? I don't think GaGa is going for the social expected norm of what "beautiful" is. If she did, she'd be getting lazy.

I hope the leaked lyrics are fake because they suck imo, but I think they are real.

No :( I rather have this climb the chart the 'normal' way, so that it can have massive airplay when and after the album is released and have longevity, instead of peaking within the first few weeks. Now I think it was a mistake to release 'Judas' this early, the radio will immediately overplay it. I hope this will still be climbing the airplay charts when the album is released

This is being released the 26th? I would be shocked if it peaked and was falling down the charts in less than a month. Like, that WOULD be a disaster if it only had a positive bullet for three weeks.

That quirky choreo looks so on point for her! She's hitting that shit hard too. I'm quite excited to hear this track and see this video. The Nashville show is the same day as the single release. Here's hoping she'll perform it. I don't think it's "amazing" but there's a lot of negative over-dramaticism about it +1. Not amongst my Gaga favorites either but the reactions subsequent to its release have been hilarious. The collective PMB taste-makers (mostly those without much of it) decided they hated BTW the second they perused the lyrics. Like all good rumors, the track quickly snowballed into a blatant copy of the Madonna classic (alongside a confusing host of others) a couple of nanoseconds after someone heard someone else say they hear a slight similarity to Madonna's "Express Yourself." Lady Gaga then had the audacity to wear a blonde ponytail during her Grammy performance. To some of us, this begged the question as to how a savvy businesswoman known for protecting her name tooth and nail like Madonna could possess such shiteous entertainment lawyers. To some others, this was a call to arms for outright hatred of the track. Cue the diminishing naysayers/soothsayers who have prognosticated that BTW will not be well remembered despite a healthy six-week reign atop the Hot 100 and many records to boot.

I think it's silly to dismiss BTW as being a short-lived hit. I think it will definitely be amongst those long-time-remembered anthems despite what the longevity of its chart status says. I'd even go as far as to say that the song itself will be considered revolutionary when the time comes.
As for Judas, I don't think it'll have quite the instant impact that BTW had but if stations are planning another every-hour-on-the-hour plays that they gave BTW, it shows the impact that GaGa is having right now. I don't think it really matters where the song is and when it peaks because when it's released, it'll be known by nearly all of the radio-listening audience within a few days anyway. If people like it, they'll like it. GaGa already has an established guaranteed audience that are going to buy her record regardless. The only people that needs convincing are those that need extra assurance through Judas and those that don't get it because they got sick of Judas will likely pick it up eventually anyway. But overplay and burn factor isn't really much of an issue with GaGa because I feel like people expect her to deliver an entire album, rather than a few good singles. But I also feel like Judas is being used as the song to finish the 1-2 punch started by Born This Way, which was essentially just the seat-warmer. If Judas ends up being an instant smash, I do wonder whether it's reasonable to expect GaGa's album to top 1 million in the first week?

I think one million is certainly possible (if Judas is really good). It would happen for sure during the holidays, but I think she still has a pretty good chance this time of year. I'll be very happy with anything over 700,000.

I'll be very happy with anything over 700,000. It certainly is possible with the right amount of hype and promotion. Lil Wayne managed a million at the beginning of June in 2008. GaGa definetely has a sizeable fanbase that would make it a possibility.

I'm hella anxious to hear this song! This & 'Government Hooker'. I truly think it's too early to say another possible #1, but I have this feeling this song will cause more of a craze than 'BTW.'

I am not expecting that much. Pop cds really aren't selling much these days at least in their debuts. The only people I can think of who have had huge weeks recently include either primarily rap artists or country artists or Susan Boyle lol. What is the last pure pop cd that sold over 700K?
I want her to place solidly over 500K and I would be THRILLED.

I'm thinking the last pure pop cd that sold over 700K was Shania in 2002. I don't consider people like Norah Jones pure pop.

She was clearly stirring up controversy in order to get attention and it was a smart move because look how well BTW did

She's proclaimed herself as (one of) the biggest Madonna fan(s). She has studied pop music inside & out. She's practically the master of it considering she has not flopped or received major backlash. She knows exactly which buttons to push, when to push them, and how hard. It is amazing to watch.

Sorry but this is just wrong IMO I don't understand why radio stations proclaim things like this without even hearing the track. I find it in poor taste--and that would be for any artist, any radio station. IMO.

It's Gaga though. It's not like she'll be releasing a track that's 4 mins. of white noise; radio expects quality from her and other big name artists, and it's doubtful that, with the reviews of this track we've seen, we won't be getting quality.
It's not like it's baseless.

Well I think that would be worthy if after the first couple of plays, the audience was requesting it. However to default a song as being played at the top the hour? I don't see that as a legitimate practice.

Not saying I like it either, but I'm just saying. It's not like the public won't readily accept a new Gaga single anyway; everyone will be dying to hear it, so it just.. works.

GaGa and Britney are the two artists that pop radio will whore their music out in the first few weeks. The audience tends to like it, radio programmers like it and it's also a good way at boasting ratings by playing a hyped song in high rotation in the first few days of its release. Arguably, the same has occured with Katy (Teenage Dream and Cali Gurls both had a strong start) and Rihanna (Only Girl almost had a +2500 bullet). I'm honestly hopeing that it's not as massive as Born This Way in its first week because I want more longevity .

The difference between those three singles is that they weren't dictated top of the hour plays by big radio stations before they were even heard. I am all for the radio playing hyped songs in high rotation, however, this automatic top of the hour thing really bothers me.

Most people don't seem to care, actually. It's over the weekends when radio doesn't really get much audience anyway. So long as there's demand for a song though, most likely, this trend will continue.
I'm also sure there's other extenuating circumstances.. sometimes it pays to be a CHR radio dj.
