Deborah performed at the private birthday party of longtime collaborator Tony Moran (he remixed/produced "Easy As Life", "House Is Not A Home", "Everybody Dance", "Tenderness", and "A New Life") last night. She performed the Hex Hector mix of "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" and Tony's remixes of "Easy As Life" and "A New Life". Debby Holiday, Kristine W., and Thea Austin (of SNAP! fame) also performed. There are some fan recorded videos on Facebook. It appears that the performances were also professionally recorded so those may be released later on after they are edited.

R&B radio needs to support this woman more. "Did You Ever Love Me" only peaked at #25 on Urban AC. It deserved better than that.

Upon first listen, I like it. It's cut from the same cloth as Disclosure & Sam Smith's "Latch" with the swing beat. It's begging for anthemic club remix by Tony Moran or a lush Disco/House mix.

I figured she'd go this route with new material. Can't say I like the song after the first listen but I don't hate it either.

It's kind of boring. Sounds like they tried to recreate "Latch" but forgot to write a strong hook.

I love this! It comes hard with the angry and in-charge mentality like "Absolutely Not," "It's Over Now," and "Mr. Lonely." I can hear a killer club remix bubbling under the surface that may eclipse the original version like the aforementioned.

The Promise was nice but a bit too sleepy/lullabye-ish/A. Keys for Deborah, but if her upcoming album has more attitude and beats like this, color me excited.

^Looking forward to it! Hopefully Primary Wave management can do a better job of getting her on the radio. Sending "Did You Ever Love Me?" and "Saying Goodbye" to Urban AC only was not a good move, IMO.

"Kinda Miss You" sounds like it could hit at Rhythmic, Urban, and maybe even Pop, Dance, and Hot AC since "Latch" was a big hit on those formats.

Deborah was in the lab with Tyrese recently. He's releasing a short film with Jennifer Hudson this summer and Deb recorded a song for the soundtrack. He posted a clip on Instagram and she sounds so good.

Grammy-nominated pop singer Deborah Cox (Jekyll & Hyde) will lead the cast of an upcoming American tour of the new musical The Bodyguard. Directed by Thea Sharrock, the tour will launch in fall 2016, with stops, dates, and full casting to be announced.

Based on the Warner Bros. film of the same name with screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, The Bodyguard tells the story of former Secret Service agent-turned-bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron (Cox) from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don't expect is to fall in love. On-screen, the roles were originated by Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

Adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning Birdman scribe Alexander Dinelaris, The Bodyguard features hit songs including "One Moment in Time," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," and the legendary tune "I Will Always Love You." The stage version premiered in 2012 at London's Adelphi Theatre, where it starred Heather Headley, and was nominated for four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical. The run concluded on August 29, 2014.

The Bodyguard features set and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting design by Mark Henderson, and sound design by Richard Brooker. Choreography is by Karen Bruce, and orchestrations and additional music are by Chris Egan.

I agree! Even though I loved Did You Ever Love Me and Where Do We Go 2, The Promise is her weakest album.

2016 is gonna be a good year for music fans. Deborah Cox is releasing a brand new album.

"Work of Art" will be the Grammy-nominated singer's first studio release in seven years. The Miami resident's current track is a taste of things to come. Deborah Cox is back in a big way. Her latest single, "More Than I Knew," is riding high on the charts. Deco sat down with the R&B songstress to find out what she's up to.

Deborah Cox: "Well 'More Than I Knew" is the newest single. It's from the forthcoming album that'll be out next year 2016 and it's really classic Deborah."

The sultry slow jam is classic Cox.

Deborah Cox: "It's really been one of those songs that's kind of sparked everyone's interest again because it's been a long time since they've heard this sound from me."

The story of a woman who regrets losing the best love she ever had is striking a nerve with Deborah's female fans.

Deborah Cox: "'Cause a lot of us women, we don't like to admit that we're wrong or that we've actually done something to sort of make the relationship turn in a different direction."

All the songs for her upcoming album, called "Work of Art," have already been recorded. Now comes the real work.

Deborah Cox: "Well, I'm still literally in that agonizing process of fine tuning and dwindling down from all the material that I have to just you know, ten, eleven songs for the record."

Once the decisions are made, you can expect an album free of gimmicks and steeped in feeling.

Deborah Cox: "There is, I think an audience that is really thirsty for the voice, the song, the story and that ultimately is what I do."

Deborah's looking forward to being responsibilty-free and kicking back in a certain city.

Deborah Cox: "You know, I travel a lot, so when I come home to Miami, it's nice to just kinda come and wind down."
