Lady Gaga's label is dumb. There is hardly as much hype for "Judas" as the almost 4 month long hype/promo set-up for BTW so rush-releasing it was a bit of a dense move.
Next week would have been better.

This single "leaked" on purpose. Beyonce's single has been seen and heard in many places and it hasn't leaked yet. Really? Because the people in Gaga's team at 3 a.m. this morning certainly knew nothing about it. And Gaga herself was none too pleased either. |

I don't think they intentionally leaked it because a Monday or Tuesday release would have (in all likelihood) given her a second number one debut. The song would not only have to sell more than 100,000 copies each day but it would need similar radio increases that BTW received to even have the slightest chance at number one.
But one thing for sure, Interscope records is on point b/c they rearrange their release schedule instantly after a leak to capitalize immediately.

This is true freakum. I think they should've waited until Monday anyway. It can probably rise to #1 in week 2. It's best to sell the record because the #1 deterrent to illegal downloading is an official for sale item.

If releasing it earlier hurts its chances of going to #1 but stems illegal downloads, the best business decision is to release it asap. |

whatever this week outcome may be, I think E.T. has #1 on lock next week. Too bad for Judas, it got a rushed release in a week with 2 strong contenders. I have a feeling Judas will never get that #1 on Hot 100.
And instead of listening to Judas, i'm listening to Bad Romance right now. Much better

I think this is like the one of the most epic Hot 100 week since the Only Girl vs. RYG vs. Like a G6 week.
ET. still had the chance early this week, then there was the AI rumor, then came Judas suddenly.
I think it would be S&M though, she sold quite much more than ET the whole week, plus her airplay would be around the same as E.T. at end of Tuesday. I don't think Judas would be #1 unless she sells like 2x more than S&M combined this next two days.
I think next week would be ET.
The S&M remix would be fallen, ET and Judas would sell more than it, ET's airplay would be much higher than S&M too. She would also get the AI boost.
As for Judas, I think it would sell more than ET by a bit, then the AI performance comes and ET overtakes her. ET's airplay is also significantly more than Judas.

I have never seen an artist so desperately wanting to reach #1. Rihanna's tweets are just pathetic. I hope itunes makes a glitch and removes sm for a day or so.
