Madonna #1 Celine Dion #2 Mariah Carey #3 I'm pretty sure Mariah is above Celine... Mariah is not the biggest selling female worldwide although reportedly that's how she insists on being introduced these days. Yes, because that is 100% Mariah's doing, and not her management or anything. Nope. Celine is #2. Mariah is#3 for the reasons above. No, that is Mariah's doing.

3 Words hasn't crossed 1M yet? It must be pretty close by now. The most recent figure I've seen is 940k so it's probably somewhere at 1 million now. Yeah, I was going to say there's no way it isn't close to 1M because 940K is the most recent figure I've seen too. FFTL is close to 1M too, if not there already.

Celine has most certainly outsold Mariah overseas. No question. I'd even argue that she's a bigger global seller than Madonna. No. No, that is Mariah's doing. Waiting for the receipts...

Anytime Mariah and Madonna's names come up in the same thread, there's bound to be a cat fight lol

^ lol so true. That's why Celine's name never gets brought up, because her fanbase isn't a part of this totally overdone and passe Mariah/Madonna online fan feud.

It's really the Mariah fans who would never accept Mariah isn't the best selling female artist. Just look at the previous pages.

Well it's always the Madonna fans who can't accept it's not Madonna or the Celine fans who can't accept it's not Celine. Look, I very much doubt it is Mariah. But the fact remains that there's no reliable way of tracking worldwide sales (and it's less and less easy to make an accurate estimate the further back you go) and every fan base is equally responsible for saying "it's my diva", "no, it's clearly my diva" without any evidence to back it up.

Except for the fact that Madonna is clearly #1. There is no debate. It's simply a matter of comparing their sales in each market and adding it all up. Market-by-market and artist info/databases have long since been established at UKMix.

Celine has most certainly outsold Mariah overseas. No question. I'd even argue that she's a bigger global seller than Madonna. You'd lose that argument. Canada and France and possibly some of the smaller Asian markets are the only places she has sales anywhere near Madonna's. TC and HC sold in the same range globally, with HC doing notably more than TC internationally. Madonna's last two studios albums are the two albums that hit #1 in the most markets, ever. I'd say that's as close to being the biggest global seller as you can get.

You are talking about the last albums though. Celine during her peak was unbelievably huge. Like, the numbers for her releases are downright astonishing. For some reason, her fan base isn't one that gets really intensely wrapped up in fan wars so that fact isn't hammered into everyone's heads on Pulse every day like Mariah and Madonna, but she was definitely competing or beating them at her peak. That one big stretch of albums she had alone places her well within the range of these other ladies. I would say the same about Barbara Streisand-people are always STUNNED by how much she has sold worldwide I guess because her team and her fans do not focus on sales as much. I guess it is because they are not pure pop artists? Like, I NEVER see fans of other genres bickering about sales as much as I do pop artists lol.

People are surprised to see Celine being one of the top sellers, not really "surprised", but without much fanfare as the others simply 'cause her chart record on hot 100 isn't as impressive as Madonna, Mariah, and Whitney. So it was easy to write her off but she also had pretty impressive sales. I agree with LPL, there was a time when she released albums that had very enormous sales
From 1996 to 1999 (3 years+)
Falling Into You - 10.7M Let's Talk About Love - 9.4M These Are Special Times - 5M All The Way.. A Decade of Songs - 8M
Total: 33.1M
Plus she also took part in that Titanic soundtrack which has sold 17M in the states alone!

Its confusing to say the least. This is a UK sales thread in a US forum discussing alltime worldwide sales of "my diva" vs "your diva"

I hate these threads and I do find them a bit amusing for two reasons. The first reason bein that there really isn't an answer because of what SHEARS said. It's impossible. They all sold a fucking boat load of albums. The end. The second reason being Britney is the best selling female artist of all-time so...

It's safe to assume that sales of Adele's "21" put the album at #13 on this list now.

Obviously the Titanic soundtrack is not a Celine Dion album, even though her track contributed to its success. Dion absolutely is one of the top-selling female acts- just not *the* top seller. She's probably a bit ahead of Mimi, though. Heck, Madonna may not even be the top- that may be that Nana Moskouri woman. (very hard to believe, though, with such limited success in the USA) Anyhow... in terms of UK album sales- is there a list of top-selling albums acts? There had been one for singles.

They all sold a f**king boat load of albums. The end. Yea but if you really focus on the SUBJECT of the thread it has nothing to do with that. This is about the best selling albums by solo females in the UK.

This, but clearly the stans from all sides are so confident in their internal calculations that they consider it illogical to use accepted fact and sources to back their claims. If you are going to state something as fact, back it up because clearly most of us will not see pass your stanning.

I'd even argue that she's a bigger global seller than Madonna. Not according the Genius Book of World Records. They have Madonna as being the Top Female Recording Artist. Look it up.

They also had Shania Twain's UP! as the biggest first week sales ever for a female artist in the US. I'm talking about on a purely global scale - outside of the U.S.

On a global scale, Madonna's albums total would be higher than Dion's. Dion's albums total probably is in the neighborhood of 160 million-170 million.
Back to the UK... Adele will be moving up this list nicely.
