I can definitely see that song being a response to RM. Didn't she say that she was going to do something "special" with RM on her next album? Maybe this could be it after all...
I hope she has a collaboration on this album with a real name in the industry. I'm still killing for any of the following collabos: -Carrie/Kelly -Carrie/Miranda -Carrie/Reba -Carrie/Martina -Carrie/Dolly (a studio collaboration) And, I recently just added this to my list: Carrie/Adele
Two of the most beautiful voices in the game today, and I could definitely hear these two voices combining. Plus, Carrie's been chatting about how much she's been loving Adele lately in her recent interviews.
Thanks to everyone who's keeping up with the new song entries, too! Typo - you've done so much for this thread. :) Thank you so much!

As far as a collab with another male, I'd love to hear her do a duet with Garth.

I guess Patty Loveless would be my choice, if there just had to be a duet on the next album. I love Carrie's duets but I'd rather her studio albums be all her, y'know? Save the duets for her duet partners' albums. And my vision of "Girls Like Us" was more of a collaboration than a full-blown duet anyway. Like Carrie sings the majority of the song and some other country women join her in singing along with the chorus or something.
On another note, I doubt we'll be getting many demos this time around. I think Carrie's co-writing this entire album.

I wonder how Carrie Underwood would sound on Blame It On Your Heart. I could definitely hear her doing a very successful cover of that. Never thought of that before!

Carrie and Faith would never happen, lol. I could see Carrie covering Patty's "A Thousand Times a Day." I think that it would be right up her alley. Has Carrie ever professed love for Patty's catalog?

Has Carrie ever professed love for Patty's catalog? Yep. Carrie blogged about purchasing Sleepless Nights, Patty reciprocated the praise in an interview with Country Universe: Obviously, country radio has changed in the last 10-15 years, and you’ve enjoyed a number of successes in the format. To which artists of this new generation do you gravitate?
I think Carrie Underwood has an amazing voice. She can do some hard-core country. I saw her at the Opry sing a real traditional country song, and I think that’s something she can do. She did a wonderful job.
And at some point in her career, you would expect her to make that move.
Yes. This is just me speaking, but I think the new artists might have a little bit of fear. In this day and time, a lot of artists, in the beginning of their careers, are afraid to do that traditional country. Because they’re trying to keep up with the Joneses I guess (laughs). It seems they want to stay popular and a lot of artists tend to be led in another direction and they’re told what to do. The artists are wanting to have that success and get played on the radio and sell records. And I don’t blame them. There is some great music out there. But I think within them there is the heart for traditional country.
Back to Carrie Underwood, you’ve obviously gained the respect of the younger generation of artists, because she sent a personal message on her website that she’d be buying the record in the store even though she had the opportunity, of course, to receive an advance copy.
That’s really nice of her. She has a lot of talent. I love that experience, too. One thing I’ve always done is go out and buy my own record in the stores. Of course, I didn’t make it out on Tuesday with everything going on, but I always like to go buy the record and then maybe buy something else from some other artists I’m interested in. "On The Verge Of Tears" would be my choice if Carrie were ever to cover a Patty song.

I love Patty and I think it's amazing that Carrie respects these singer/songwriters. It makes me think that she can BRING IT cause she knows what needs to be done. Does that make sense? I really want her to make an Adele 21 album that is country but her own. That is my wish and it seems that she is going in a great direction. :)

Patty Loveless is in my top 2-3 singers of all-time. I love her. I'm not sure how she and Carrie would blend, but I'd love to see them give it a shot. Patty is killer with harmony vocals (her work on "When I Call Your Name" is legendary, and her work on "Please Remember Me" gets me every time).
In terms of Patty song I can hear Carrie doing well with "That's Exactly What I Mean" (a bluesy one Carrie could rock out more), "What's A Broken Heart" (beautiful song to feature Carrie's voice), or "I Miss Who I Was With You" (imagine Carrie on that chorus!). For me songs like "Blame It On Your Heart" and "I Try To Think About Elvis" are too kitschy, but beyond that sometimes it's better to cover lesser known songs because they aren't so tied to the original artist.

I hope she has a collaboration on this album with a real name in the industry. I'm still killing for any of the following collabos: And, I recently just added this to my list: Carrie/Adele I don't know if I could handle the epicness that this would be.

The Tennessean reviewed last night's U2 concert, apparently Bono mentioned discussing social issues w/ Carrie & some other country stars: Bono recalled his "special times" with Johnny and wife June in Hendersonville and also mentioned that he'd spent his Friday night discussing social causes with Bill and Karyn Frist, as well as country music stars he referred to by first names: "Carrie," "Dierks" and "Jennifer," among others.

Tedder mentioned working on 3 songs with Carrie in an interview with Reuters: He also collaborated on three new songs with Carrie Underwood, whom he calls "one of the top three vocalists I've ever worked with." If there is any justice, none of this man's tracks will end up on the album. His material could lead to something even worse than Quitter being on the fourth album.

Some big names and big voices on that list! Carrie's really is my favorite rendition though, traditional and perfect.

Don't want Tedder. I've always loved "Quitter", though. It's so sweet. I know I should dislike it being that lyrically it's below Carrie and all of that but I just can't.

For me "Quitter" was just a complete different sound that didn't fit in with the rest of the album. I don't hate the song, but I do find myself skipping it whenever I listen to the album. It's a great song, but I guess as a Carrie fan I love her power ballads and her sassy up tempos and "Quitter" fits neither of those.

"Quitter" is one of Carrie's best uptempo songs. I hate her 'sassy' songs, because I feel like they aren't authentic. "Undo It" was too catchy to resist, and "Before He Cheats" is a fucking classic. But "Last Name" and "Casanova" didn't feel 'real' to me. Maybe it's because we know Carrie would never go to Vegas and get married in a night, etc. "Quitter" was far from her other material, but that's partially why I liked it. It was different for Carrie without sounding the same as every other Max Martin track. It was a sweet song that actually fit Carrie's life pretty well. As I see it, it was probably one of the most personal songs on the album for her along with "Mama's Song" and "Temporary Home." Tedder? I love his productions. Sure they all sound similar to each other. But I don't care. I think that Ryan is a good songwriter with an ear for a good hooky melody. Carrie singing an "Already Gone" could be epic. I think that Ryan's productions have a kind of 'dark' feel to them, especially when he uses the piano like in the aforementioned "Gone." And Carrie did say that she wants a darker album, right? Bono honoring Carrie is beautiful. Bono has a big heart and is so very talented. Carrie should return the favor by singing "One" on tour.

But "Last Name" and "Casanova" didn't feel 'real' to me. Maybe it's because we know Carrie would never go to Vegas and get married in a night, etc. I don't know if I agree with that...I mean, we know Carrie wouldn't destroy someone's car either, but Before He Cheats is still a great song. I think Cowboy Casanova is probably my favorite of the uptempos, although I was really addicted to Last Name at one point too. I really love it when she does Last Name live...one of my favorites to hear her sing live.

One of the reasons I love when Carrie sings songs like BHC, LN, CC, etc, is actually because we know she would never actually do those things in real life. If BHC was a serious song, I'd actually be kind of afraid of Carrie instead of just loving her sassy spunk. ;)
Plus, LN is one of my favorite songs to see Carrie do live. She just kills it live, especially on the Play On Tour.
