I could definitely see the album cover and possibly single name (and maybe the single cover too) coming out a little before Christmas to build up anticipation. I could definitely see a Monday January 2 or January 9 release...it would blast up the chart just as the chart comes out of "holiday slowdown" mode.

However we can't totally rule out a December release (I'm not really expecting it, but still). It's true that the chart slows down for 2+ weeks, but it would hardly slow up a new Carrie single...it might not slow it up at all.

Still, I'll stick with the song impacting radio either January 2 or January 9.

Do you think they will reveal the album title & cover, album release date, and lead single all at once? I think they'll announce the lead single sometime in late December and send it out early January. The album title and cover will probably be revealed in January too, I'm guessing.

Underwood becomes first artist for '12 CMA Music Fest
Thursday, November 17, 2011 – Carrie Underwood is the first artist announced to play the 2012 CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Underwood will play one of the nightly concerts at LP Field.

The festival is slated for Thursday through Sunday, June 7-10 inn downtown Nashville. The event will once again be filmed for an ABC special airing later in the summer.

Underwood last performed at CMA Music Festival in 2010. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Normally we do not announce talent until February, but we wanted to be sure everyone knew that Carrie has already committed to perform at 2012 CMA Music Festival," said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "She continues to be one of our most requested artists, and we knew the fans would want to be aware so they could go ahead and make plans to attend our event."

LMAO. I love it how the entire article is about the 5 artists being honored, and yet Carrie's picture is the only one provided when she's simply just (potentially) appearing.

Moving things to a side-note really quickly, but I love[/i] it when I revisit the SH set. I get addicted to a different album track every time. That's Where It Is, (The Night Before) Life Goes On, Starts With Goodbye, I Just Can't Live a Lie, I Ain't in Checotah Anymore, etc. It's seriously a flawless debut.

For awards hosts, age just a number

Two weeks ago, I did something I had never done before and never thought I’d do.

I watched the Country Music Association Awards, also known as the CMAs.

This may not sound like such a big deal to you, but for me, it was one of those life-changing moments that will surely serve as yet another vital reminder that we should never underestimate the transformative powers of award shows.

A little back story is probably in order: For much of my adult life, I was a snob about country music, preferring bluegrass and rockabilly to anything that was being played on the radio at any given moment.

Then, I begat a daughter who revealed me for the softie I’ve always been and who grew to love country music all on her own.

I listened to lots of country radio thereafter and discovered two things: mainstream country is pretty good, for the most part, and male country singers really like to sing songs about begetting daughters who reveal them for the softies they’ve always been.

But this column is not about defending mainstream country music or my nonexistent hipster cred or the wisdom of making three successive references in a column to daughters revealing you for the softie you have always been.

No, it’s about how entertaining the CMA telecast was.

Co-hosts Brad Paisley (age 39) and Carrie Underwood (age 28) were loose and funny. They were funny apart and they were funny together. They could go off-script without stiffening up and they could make the script sound like it was off-the-cuff.

Compare and contrast, if you would, the showing of Paisley and Underwood with that of James Franco (age 33) and Anne Hathaway (age 29) during February’s Academy Awards telecast.

The writer then compares to the Franco-Hathaway hosting duo, and then to Crystal replacing Murphy to host the Oscars.

Yeah, it would've been nice of him to black out the last 4, but it's only the last 4 digits so it's not that big of a deal. But yes, that does make her fantastic tipper. Her tip was more than the bill itself! What a nice lady.

P.S. Anyone notice that Carrie accidentally signed and gave him the customer copy instead of the merchant copy?

01. Talk about an intriguing title. Seriously, what could this even be about? Ideas?

02. A new name in-the-mix: Bobby Hamrick. You can check out some of his stuff over at his Facebook & ReverbNation pages. His lyrics could probably use some tightening up but I like his sound, a lot. Carrie's voice on something like "Push on Through" would be out of this world.

03. Kelley Lovelace makes for a great writer most of the time.
