I'd say at this time "Party Rock Anthem" has a 53% likelihood of retaining the pole position while "Last Friday Night" has a 47% likelihood of making Billboard history next week.
I base that on the more steady sales figures coming from LMFAO in spite of them losing airplay faster. But really, projecting this chart battle is much akin to projecting a presidential election...........where pretty much every cycle now the popular vote is no less narrower than 55-45%.
If it were a presidential race, I honestly see Perry trailing LMFAO in the polling. But it's not to say she doesn't have a sure shot at winning the late stage of the weekly campaign. And she can do that either by 1) holding her own in the digital sales debate without necessarily winning it, or 2) LMFAO makes a huge gaffe (digital sales falling faster this week than expected, airplay plunges faster).

LMFAO has got this. Katy Perry will not be #1 next week. No way no how. Does Katy have any promo this weekend?

Good job PRA! I like Katy but she doesnt deserve to hold this legendary record, at least not right now, its too soon for her.

Yeah, that legendary song "Dirty Diana" that set the record. Please. It's too bad we didn't have Soundscan & Mediabase back then. I'd bet the ranch that MJ did not have 5 #1s from Bad. Anyway, I just don't know how people can consider LFN as a failure. The digital sales were certain to be significantly lower because it's been available for download for over a year. A remix should have been release with the video. Oh, well.

A little bit bitter, eh? Get over it. Your opinion is irrelevant when the fact is that Bad had 5 #1s.

Even if LFN doesn't reach #1 it was a big hit. That said, I hope it's the last single.

^LOL...You are funny. Your temperament concerning this Hot 100 race changes by the hour every day. No I really think Katy's best shot is not this coming chart. It'll be the next chart after that. I think PRA is going to drop harder and Katy will back into #1 simply by loosing less. I hope you are right...wasn't that lighters song supposed to be a threat? so it is not anymore???

Sure there may have been No. 1 singles that would not have had No. 1 had BDS and SoundScan been in place- but that's neither here nor there. Chart methodologies and climates have changed through the years- it is what it is.
LFN currently at Nos. 6 and 45.

That's what her ass gets for not recruiting Ke$ha or Rihanna. She could've even kept Missy on.

Katy will not get the #1 unless they do something. The last option they have is to make a backdoor deal with Interscope to hold off PRA on Itunes for about 4 days, citing either a "glitch" or an effort to boost dismal album sales like Estelle's label did a few years ago.

Yeah, and Katy and her record company wouldn't look too desperate if they did something like that. They need to let it go already.

What I don't get is why she keeps silent. Tweet, put some videos on, perform, whatever. thinking that this specific remix would do it is a problem, that's beyond us (even though I don't think it's bad - it's just not enough) but when everyone sees there are problems along the way, why not do something? It's really hard for me to comprehend this...

They could've made LFN remix 99 cents and it still would've done the same thing. There was absolutely no need for a discount. There was a need for an add and promotion. How about a contest of some sort that encourages people to buy KP's single.

Hardly, the point is that everyone is holding that record as sacred, when if not for KP threat, it hasn't been mentioned in years. Billboard always has had a sketchy history when it comes to records - like the Bee Gees getting a sixth straight #1 with Love You Inside Out. I wouldn't be surprised if LFN gets it with the mysterious streaming....

What's fishy about the Bee Gees "Love You Inside Out?" being their sixth consecutive #1?
