*Jay-Z & Kanye West (Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam/Roc Nation) 500-550k *Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 130-140k *Now 39 (Capitol/EMI) 95-105k Adele (XL/Columbia) 65-70k *Debuts (8/11p) Luke Bryan had a nice sales bump to 130-140k (up from the initial 120-125k estimate). Awesome! Most experts thought he'd sell 80-100k. That "Country Girl" song really brought him to the next level among Country male stars. Hopefully this trend of healthy sales continue across all genres.

The first time Gaga is off the predictions. :( Can't say I'm surprised though: TEOG has peaked and there were are no promo this week to keep sales afloat.

Amazing for Foster the People if they could climb into top 15 on such a busy week.

On the flip side, Cerbius, other acts have weeks of no promo, weeks in which their current single drops down the charts, and their sales stay afloat- look at Adele. :) Speaking of Adele, it will be her first week outside the top 3- what a run. It probably will bounce back to the top 3 at some point, though.

No Gaga? Y&I needs to hurry up.
So I guess it'll be next week that Adele crosses 3 million.

Amazing for Foster the People if they could climb into top 15 on such a busy week. Yeah, it's great to see. Do you all think people might have gotten a bit tired of Lady Gaga? I think the album cover didn't exactly help, as well.

Yah there is some Gaga overload going on, and Y&I was pretty much the worst single choice possible, so I'm not really expecting much.

Does anyone know when/if Watch the Throne is going to be available on Amazon MP3? Or will I have to finally get an iTunes Store account?

I am rooting for this so that maybe other artists and record companies take notes.

Now Christmas CDs are fine. Those are obscure tracks that are seasonal and fit perfect on compilations. Not power rotated, easily accessible Pop hit compilations which could be made in five minutes with a CD burner or an iPod. There are people in America that don't have computers.

Hopefully Beyoncé exceeds expectations and spends a 7th week in the top 10 She should be able to get top 10. They usually underpredict her sales.

Hits downgraded the prediction as well
THRONE WATCHING: Jay-Z and Kanye West's Roc-a-Fella/Roc Nation album Watch the Throne broke the U.S. iTunes one-week sales record with nearly 290k downloads through Sunday night (8/14). The set was exclusively available at the Apple store from Aug. 8-11 before going on sale at digital and physical retailers Friday (8/12). The previous one-week iTunes record was set by Coldplay's 2008 album Viva La Vida, which moved 282k in its first week, and a total of 288k from all other digital retailers. With physical sales falling off over the weekend, Watch the Throne will debut at #1 tomorrow with 425k, which is less than had been predicted. Fully 75% of the total sales will be digital, including other Digital Service Providers like Ticketmaster, which is giving a digital copy away with every ticket purchased for the upcoming tour. (8/15p)

I think the album cover didn't exactly help, as well. Yes & No. Yes, in that it isn't just like 'The Fame MONSTER' era, so it's easy for casuals to dislike. However, if 'The Fame' sales pre-'Monster' are taken into account, that only sold 1.5 until re-release. Sales for GaGa will rise with the single/video and if she is infact hosting the VMAs. It'd basicly be the same result any popstar would get with an album that casual fans dont like.

There are people in America that don't have computers. And those people don't buy Now CDs. Someone without a PC (i.e. an old fart that can't even turn one on) likely isn't going to be interested in new music. Well, no PC is not just an old-fart thing. Lack of a home computer with internet access could also be an economic issue. In some (many?) rural areas many people still have dial-up because that's all that is available to them (I have an uncle who had a seven or eight-year old CRT-monitor computer on dial-up, that hunk of junk won't be downloading or streaming much of anything, lol). And some people are simply paranoid about any online ordering or giving out credit card information over the internet. Poor people, rural residents, and the paranoid like music too, though.

And another component, some people are "used to" buying CDs from habit and are less comfortable with the digital version but are quite knowledgeable around computers. The physicial version of a CD maybe a preference choice rather than computer intelligence.

^I agree. Just because computers and digital technology have taken off in a big way does not mean there aren't some traditionalists who enjoy purchasing and owning the physical product.
