I assumed it was the Wal-mart type crowd keeping the NOW! series going who have been collecting them for years and also the young kids who just want a CD with all the big hits and without the complication of burning/downloading/cherrypicking on iTunes.
And on top of that, for parents who just want to buy their kids a CD, getting them a NOW! compilation is a pretty safe/easy gift.

And that HITS item about the updated Watch the Throne numbers seems to be saying that the HITS total for the album IS 425k for the week, rather than another prediction.

^That would be in line with 410K-450K. :)
The HITS item also mentions "giving a digital copy away..." has it been established that ticket prices included an added-on price for the digital copy? It would not be a giveaway then.

Well, no PC is not just an old-fart thing. Lack of a home computer with internet access could also be an economic issue. In some (many?) rural areas many people still have dial-up because that's all that is available to them (I have an uncle who had a seven or eight-year old CRT-monitor computer on dial-up, that hunk of junk won't be downloading or streaming much of anything, lol). And some people are simply paranoid about any online ordering or giving out credit card information over the internet. Poor people, rural residents, and the paranoid like music too, though. And another component, some people are "used to" buying CDs from habit and are less comfortable with the digital version but are quite knowledgeable around computers. The physicial version of a CD maybe a preference choice rather than computer intelligence. Very true (though my initial response was just in rebuttal to the idea that only old people don't own computers). The quality from a physical CD is still superior to most online downloads. I've seen plenty of sound purists (some here) say that they still insist on buying physical CDs because of this; it really makes a difference on high-quality audio equipment. Until some online outlet finally offers a FLAC option for a wide selection of music, CDs won't ever completely go away.

Highly intelligent people who are quite handy with computers can be music lovers that do not frequent itunes. Although the original response is possible too, some older people are slower in embracing technology. There is just many other possibilities besides that, which was my point.

Britney's out of the HITS top 50 for the first time since its debut in March. Although it's been outside the Billboard top 50 a couple times before

Good numbers, HDD's overpredictions will make most see it as disappointing though.
Hopefully Bey will be 30k on Soundscan and :o at Maroon 5 gaining again. Weren't they out of the Top 100 not that long ago? MLJ has really helped them a great deal.

A big decline for Gaga. Hopefully she'll stabilize in the top 20 or so as You & I gains on radio and with the VMA buzz.

lol at people complaining about the numbers. It was expected that the frontloaded predictions would be a bit off
How many number one albums Jay-Z has now? 11 or 12?

They over-predicted quite a bit. They were over hyping and not considering that the album was not widely available at retail stores. Either way the numbers are still very strong considering what they tried to do.
