Coldplay have yet to have a Top 10 CHR/Pop hit. "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" performed similarly to "Yellow," "Clocks," and "Speed Of Sound" so it didn't do poorly for them.
#20 Yellow #21 Clocks #24 Speed Of Sound #49 Talk #11 Viva La Vida #39 Lovers In Japan

The Coldplay thing is weird. In the general sense, "Yellow", "Clocks", especially "Viva la Vida" and even "The Scientist" (which didn't even chart on the Hot 100 or pop) seem like huge hits that made a considerable impact, yet they haven't had a massive mainstream hit on radio.
Does anyone have their overall AI peak history? Do they get a lot of play from Hot AC and AC outside the rock formats?

Cheers has moved up to #3 on iTunes. It's looking like we will have a Cheers vs Moves Like Jagger battle, followed by a You & I vs Someone Like You battle. All 4 could potentially be close on some weeks too. MLJ & Cheers are ahead of the other 2 on airplay though, that I think the battle will mainly be between those 2.

If wasn't for Chris at the VMA's, and Rihanna got to perform, Cheers would be exploding like crazy next week, oh well :/

I bet Christina is going to get screwed. Either by Gaga, Adele or Rihanna.
Rihanna's label will make that single #1 no matter what, though. Just a matter of when they think their best chance will be.

^Christina? More like Maroon 5- Ms. Aguilera's only on a minute or so of the track, anyways. :)
In any event, MLJ is on contention for No. 1 on the upcoming Hot 100, so possibly no screwing for the single.

This would be a #1 for Christina as well. She hasn't had one since 2001. She is more "in need" of a #1, if you believe in such things. ;)

Oh, I know Aguilera would be credited wit ha No. 1, as well. But, not sure what "the need" would be. It's not like one high chart peak sets in motion a string of high-peaking singles.
"I Wanna Go" sees its first loss. Nothing wrong if it misses top five on Hot 100 Airplay, as it's enjoyed a good showing.
Like BFF Katy Perry, RiRi's enjoying strong airplay for a fifth single that's gone to the pop format- though I doubt it will peak as high as LFN.

Would we all feel the same way about the Maroon 5 song if Christia Aguilera's name was not in the title?

I just realized that 'She Will' is the 4th song to go top 10 that has both Lil' Wayne and Drake on it. How many hits before Lil Wayne and Drake are considered regular recording partners? :o

IA about Cheers...it should probably go to #1 with enough airplay and sales combined. I wanna go should go to #5 by default...there's nothing in the top 10 that should overtake it; however, if Pitbull and Wayne were losing more audience it could have hit #4 but oh well, top 5 airplay, top 10 hot 100, and soon to be #1 pop is good enough for me.

I'm not a big Maroon 5 or Aguilera fan (though I like more of Aguilera's music than Maroon 5), so for me, my observations would not change. I've made it known that I think "featurings" should be on at least half a track, but that's another story.
slw- "Lighters" should overtake IWG, no? :)
2m- Lil Wayne and Drake gonna be the next Hall and Oates.

MLJ will be #1 on the hot 100 next week. Then it's going to be a showdown between Cheers, You and I, and Someone Like You for many weeks to come. I was hoping Mr. Know It All would disrupt that party, but I dunno anymore. Will be interesting to watch.

And How To Love - even though that seems near-dead now, isn't it getting a performance too? They could both get big boosts from that too, they're both artists known for huge digital selling.

Now i don't mind, because that meant Katy was #1, but BME could've easily snatched that away from her if they struck while they had huge momentum, but they didn't. the post-VMA sales will be fun to watch. :)

Hopefully that bitch Hurricane Irene doesn't mess things up for us VMA watchers in the East Coast.

Probably they were waiting for airplay to build up, but the airplay's really slowed down this past week. I thought that song was a surefire #1 but it looks like it might miss it. I agree, will be fun to watch, especially with Gaga and Adele. <3

Ironically, it's probably best that the VMA's aren't in NYC this year...

Yeah but both Pitbull and Lil wayne could tumble. Unless I wanna go gets 3 more days of negative audiences then it could possibly hold out to hit #5...#4 is probably not going to happen because of Lighters. LOL at the Hall and Oates comparison. I just can't go for that

denverd, RiRi's appearance on "Love the Way You Lie" tallies a lot more than 20 seconds- and, it IS the chorus, after all, repeated multiple times. :) I know it's tough to establish a set rule for length of time, but in the case of a track like "Moves Like Jagger," Maroon 5's live performances showed that nothing was really missing without Aguilera's presence. slw- neither can I.

Time doesn't matter, what matters is what the song is credited as via the label. If they want to credit a producer who doesn't sing a note, it's still their credit. Heck if they wanted to feature the person who wrote the song they could probably get away with that too for all I care. :kii:
