yes that does make sense, BUT what about when people cant chart high even if they have good sales, just because radio wont play their song, like if their is a stigma against that artist? IE if they do teen music, i know radio tends not to like that, even though it has good sales, radio stops it getting high on the BBHot100 is that fair? Teens are a very specific case, though. Think about it, they hardly represent the general public (hence why radio won't support them) and their sales are generally fueled by sensationalism, hence a monumental spike in sales with an equally fantastic drop following shortly thereafter. If there's lasting interest, though ('See You Again,' 'Naturally') radio will follow suit. yes, that is Payola.

Every other country in the world uses JUST SALES why is my view so shocking? i really dont understand why someone would factor in radio plays because the radio can play it all they want, but if no one likes it then they wont buy it. i think it can create a false sense on the chart that a song is liked, when in fact it is not liked, it is just that the radio keep playing it. I think it is a very fair view to have. But I'm not sure what your point is with the context. For example, if America was sales-only, this week Criminal would be #51, not #66. So as of right now, airplay being included is hurting Britney, not helping her. Going further, "Hold It Against Me" would still have been #1 (as it was on sales), "Til The World Ends" would've been #5 (from memory) and "I Wanna Go" #7 (again from memory)? So pretty much identical peaks to what they currently have. So I'm just trying to understand your underlying implication that she wouldn't have done as well with only sales when it's a proven fact that she would have (except two places with TTWE, hardly worthy worrying about). As far as sales goes vs "Circus", it's going to end up pretty much even. "Til The World Ends" will more or less match "Circus" (about 400k off now? Still selling 15k-ish a week?), "I Wanna Go" has surpassed "If U Seek Amy" weeks ago, and "Criminal" will happily slide past "Radar". The only difference is "HIAM" vs "Womanizer", which is a big amount (ie: around 1.7 million from memory), but once "I Wanna Go" makes it through the holiday season it'll finish a solid 700-800k ahead of "Amy". Both projects will generate around 7.5-8 million singles each.

With the exception of the two or three +100 updates, and the +20 from yesterday, this has had remarkably consistent daily updates - definitely hasn't hit a brick wall yet. I'm pretty confident this won't be a huge smash by any means, but with each singles' longevity and Britney's recurrent play this era, it would not surprise me to see this creep up into the Top 15 over the next several weeks and fall from there.

Ugh Britney. I just don't understand why she won't do any kind of promotion. She won't even perform it on her tour? Who doesn't perform their single on tour? Honestly, it's probably because she doesn't want to lip-sync it so she doesn't want to embarrass herself. Then I say fuck it and take out Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know- sit your ass on that damn swing and sing Criminal. DO IT BITCH!

It's called the Femme Fatale show and it's based on a runaway Criminal. Why would she NOT perform this song, especially when it's her fourth single? I never believed she liked it to begin with, and for good reason.

im getting concerned this wont sell gold. i think next era they way britney could really get some good attention is if she focuses on her breakdown. i know she doesnt like thinking about it but if they did something similar to rihanna's we found love video, which spotlighted the chris brown relationship, brit could get HUGE media love, if handled properly. i think that could be the first step in getting her another platnium album Arent you basically describing the Hold It Against Me video? i thought that while typing, but i mean a much more literal video. i had to describe a lot of hold it against me to my friends to that could understand it, it was beautfiully executed, and the message was amazingly displayed, it just wasnt very in ur face. what im suggesting is something very literal, but like i said it could be too much for brit, i just think it could get SO Much media hype and promo

But...she obviously likes 'Criminal'? ??? How's it obvious? The song fits the show and she isn't performing it. I'm sure she likes the whole album, but this isn't her favorite~ song and she probably could care less if she performs it or not. If she really wanted to perform it, she would. I mean, she randomly added Mannequin and YOK to the Circus tour, why wouldn't she do that now?

Pretty sure it's been made known that Britney loves "Criminal" and fought to get it released as the fourth single. She also came up with the video concept herself.
IDK why she isn't performing it, but it's not because she doesn't like the song.

Whenever Spears first dropped the snippet on Twitter, she labeled it as one of her favorites. She's also spoken highly of the song every time it's come up.
I don't really care that this underperformed is as of now underperforming compared to the other singles. People have been begging for her to release a ballad (on here and in her fanbase, anyway), or at the very least something different, so here you go. I think when it's all said and done she'll get nods for it whether or not this has really resonated with the public on a widespread scale.

But...she obviously likes 'Criminal'? ??? How's it obvious? Well, for starters, she's said that it's one of her favorite tracks on the album. In my book, that makes it fairly obvious that she likes the song.

Well, for starters, she's said that it's one of her favorite tracks on the album. In my book, that makes it fairly obvious that she likes the song. She also said the album is "urban" and "cool," and that the tour has "6 or 7 costume changes." She memorizes the answers because they're fed to her. She's also said He About To Lose Me is her favorite song. I don't take any of these "quotes" seriously, again, if she WANTED to perform this song, she would. It's as simple as that. LOL No she didn't...? Fans chose this song.

I highly doubt fans really chose 'Criminal'. Just b/c the single chosen by the fan poll just happened to coincide w/ what's chosen doesn't really mean much considering how many times they've ignored the results in fan polls and released something else.

Watch her post vma interview and see how she gushes over this song and coming up with the concept for the video. It's pretty clear to me that she pushed for this song.
Why isn't she performing it on tour? Great question, especially because it fits so well. I think she just can't be bothered to rehearse something new. Lol ;)

Inside Out is a flop, honestly. Not radio friendly at all. This can still grow. It's different than anything she has released in like 7 years. So of course it's not going to just shoot up.

I don't get why this is seen as a flop? It's still growing at a similar rate it has been the whole time! It's not doing what the last three did but the further into her singles she gets the less momentum there is (as she doesn't promote) so that's to be expected.
At worst it should hit #20-ish on pop and around #50-ish on the Hot 100...for a fourth Britney single I wouldn't call that a flop.
