The cutoff date was in August that one year because CBS wanted to show the Grammys in January, ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The cutoff date is in September this year, so the Tony Bennett album is eligible.

Some of those predictions are odd- i.e. not rounded off to the nearest 5 or 10.
They really expect the MJ Cirque album to sell that much?

They really expect the MJ Cirque album to sell that much? I'm really curious about that as well. I'm assuming that the versions of the songs on this album are brand new, made especially for the show and are not just the original album versions that most may have already. Perhaps the hardcore fans and collectors would purchase this release.

I think this will do more. Not much more. Probably 200-225K.

I'm confused: Wikipedia says Brantley Gilbert's Halfway to Heaven reached #112 last year and now it's a new entry at #4... Is it a re-release?
EDIT: Seems it's a deluxe edition. Awesome sales in that case.

Awesome sales in that case. Brantley Gilbert has released two albums, Modern Day Prodigal Son and Halfway To Heaven, both on the small indie label Average Joe's Entertainment. However, last year he was signed by a major label, the Valory Music Company (home to Reba and Justin Moore), which is a part of the Big Machine Label Group (Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Martina McBride, etc.). They picked the track "Country Must Be Country Wide" from the HTH album and re-mixed it and sent it out as his first single from Valory, even though it was on an already released album by Average Joe's Entertainment. While on Average Joe's, Brantley couldn't get hardly any airplay...now, he's known as the singer of the #14 and climbing "Country Must Be Country Wide" on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, and everyone also knows him as the writer/co-writer of two of Jason Aldean's smash hits, "My Kinda Party" and the Hot 100 top 10 hit (and country #1) "Dirt Road Anthem". The new label, Valory, wanted to get Brantley on the radio right away and thought CMBCW would be the song to do it and it seems it's paid off. So, they just re-recorded most of the HTH album, added some videos and 4 new songs, and released an all new deluxe version. Brantley's first 2 albums actually sold pretty well for someone who got hardly any airplay, and he has been steadily building a fanbase. Now, thanks to his radio hit, a LOT more people know who he is and might be checking out Halfway to Heaven for the first time...and it's the Deluxe Edition that's really the only one being pushed by Valory. So yeah, Brantley's star is on the rise big time. He could be compared to Eric Church or Jason Aldean, but only more with a southern rock edge, I'd say. He's carving a place for himself in country music, and I think he'll be around to stay.

Well we know the bodyguard soundtrack sold more because soudscan wasn't 100% accurate back then and that album did sell more than 11.8 millions and not just because of music club sales. It sure did not sell 5 millions more just on the back of music club sales as it is certified 17xPlatinum by the RIAA. Soundscan is not 100% accurate now either. RIAA is the best estimator available for older albums - true But based on Soundscan, Beatles move to #5 this week on Soundscan's best sellers of the last 20 years list Soundscan lists aren't adjusted for RIAA, since RIAA does not measure sales. My point was that both albums came out under the soundscan era but as we know soudscan didn't really track all sales back then. Like I said it does not seems realistic to me that an album like the bodyguard sold 5 million more through soudscan. I don't remember the numbers through BMG clubs, but I remember it not being on the top of the list, and I somehow doubt it would have sold something like 4 millions through Columbia music clubs.

Great to hear! Jason's MKP and DRA are the style of country that I'm craving more of nowadays. Glad to hear there's more artists like Jason (country with rock edge) on country radio, and it's the guy that wrote MKP and DRA to boot. I'll have to check out Brantley's album now! It's kinda funny that I'm getting my better pop/rock music out of Country than HotAC in the past year. I'm impressed with the Jason/Brantley songs.

Some of those predictions are odd- i.e. not rounded off to the nearest 5 or 10. They really expect the MJ Cirque album to sell that much? Why are the odd? Becuase they are not like HITS' numbers? These are estimates from a major record label. They must have their own formulas to estimate first week sales.

Thought they were odd, because, as said, some of them weren't rounded off. Were the execs really crunching their predictions at 117K? 128? You see what I mean. :) Not odd because those albums may sell in that range.
Jackie Evancho performed on America's Got Talent last week, no mention of another holiday release- of course, she herself mentioned her latest album- was cute. :)

Would Jackie still be able to beat Stevie Wonder's record as youngest chart topper?
She's tried twice already.

damn katy's album ! that 6th single needs to start smashing.
Demi Lovato 109k - i have a good feeling this will be her first album to pass 500k May J Blige 182k - hopefully this can manage a 500k total Scott McCreery 128k - not bad, i dont know if it ll be that high, but no matter what its guna sell a lot better than lee's Evanescence 175k - i see this debuting well but falling fast Pia Toscano 117k - EXTREMLEY high, very unrealistic. i dont see her opening with much more than lee or crystal did Kelly Clarkson 250k - id said more 215k-225kish Susan Boyle 300k - i wonder if she can get another single on the hot 100 Miranda Lambert 175k - seems low 50 Cent 243k - seems a tad high Akon 208k - if this doesnt get a huge single i see this opening a lot lower, more around 145k All American Rejects 117k - eh.

Mary J Blidge will open MUCH closer to 300k. Maybe even more. That prediction is ridiculously low.
