Does anyone know how the year end charts are shaping up? I know Rolling in the Deep is leading in Digital sales, but with airplay included, is there a contest with E.T. and even Party Rock Anthem? And how much of an impact can Moves like Jagger and Someone Like You make before the end of November?

SLY and MLJ are limited in a sense, since the Billboard year-end-chart period ends in November. However, for charts that rank tracks that peaked in a calendar year, based on overall performance (even if that carries into the following year), those tracks could finish very well.

I think RITD/ET/PRA will be your top 3. In what order, it's not clear. I would've said 1. RITD 2. ET 3. PRA a few weeks ago, but PRA's staying power is making me wonder if it could be #2 or even #1. Pretty sure RITD will be higher than ET though.

I'm pretty sure Billboard does the year-end chart based on overall chart points, not weekly ranks, right? If that's the case, then RITD and ET both have the biggest sales of the year and probably the highest airplay totals as well. PRA has had longevity, but its sales are still significantly lower than the former two, so I'm thinking the top three will be in that order - RITD, ET, PRA.

Correct, the rankings do come from overall chart points.
RITD is going to run away with #1. #2-#6 is still up for grabs. You have Firework, F**k You, and Grenade, songs that lasted forever and garnered a lot of points that way. Then you have ET, a song that hit hard in the middle of the year with strong sales and strong airplay, but not quite the longevity of the four previously named songs.
Then you have Give Me Everything and Party Rock Anthem, massive hits that are still impacting.

Party Rock Anthem will probably outsell ET.
Is it possible for RITD, PRA & ET to all sell 5 mil by the end of the SoundScan year :o

Question for the moderators: why is the existence of a chart not out for 3 months music news?

Question for the moderators: why is the existence of a chart not out for 3 months music news? Clearly there's a lot of interest in it. It's fun to discuss what will come out on top as the biggest songs of the year. Why are you bothered by it?

Hot 100 Artist will be Katy #1, Adele #2 i guess. I think you are right on account of sheer numbers of Katy singles compared to Adele. But, interestingly, even though she has only released 2 singles in 2011, Adele will have the most weeks at #1.

Anyone have a good grasp of what the top ~25 would be (not exact order, just what's likely in there)?

Anyone have a good grasp of what the top ~25 would be (not exact order, just what's likely in there)? I'd say... For Sure: Firework Grenade Forget You E.T. (#2) Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) Rolling in the Deep (#1) S&M Party Rock Anthem Give Me Everything On the Floor Born This Way Look At Me Now Likely: What's My Name? Super Bass Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor) Coming Home The Show Goes On How to Love If I Die Young Good Life Dirt Road Anthem Down on Me Motivation On the Fence: Till the World Ends Perfect Moves Like Jagger Tonight (I'm Lovin' You) Blow Black and Yellow The Lazy Song Tonight Tonight The Edge of Glory Pumped Up Kicks Someone Like You (it'd be tough for this one, but it could do it)

^I agree with most of that, but I'd put Perfect, Born This Way and Super Bass in the "For Sure" list. BTW is at 3.4-5 million IIRC, and Super Bass has had amazing longevity.

Does We R Who We R have a chance of being Top 25? It sold around 3.5 million IIRC, I'm not sure how much of that was pre 2010 November though.

It's not a song that I've been tracking - I guess I forgot most of its chart run occurred during 2011. 17 of its 20 weeks count for 2011, but one of its biggest weeks (its debut) doesn't count, so that will set it back a bit. I could see maybe top 30 but not much higher.

Wow, I completely forgot about WRWWR being mainly in 2011. For some reason, I keep thinking it was a 2010 hit. Yeah, with its highest digital week not counting in this year-end chart, that could set it back quite a bit.

What happened to the poster that used to list how long songs spent in the Top 10 of the Hot 100?
Does anyone have a list?
