As long as Chad's voice can't be heard on the songs, I'm okay with the collaborations. I'm wary of the album though. Goodbye Lullaby has grown on me a bit more... though I've still been escaping back to both Under My Skin and Let Go in recent weeks.

Goodbye Lullaby has grown on me a bit more... though I've still been escaping back to both Under My Skin and Let Go in recent weeks. L.A Reid has an ear for music. He green-lighted Let Go's change from country sounding to more rock orientated. He has expressed his happiness with the album describing it as "magical". He believes in her and that makes me even more excited for whats to come. Avril can come up with a great melody and hook, but when it comes to lyrical content she needs that collaboration to drive it home. David Hodges and Chad are definitely great songwriters & can contribute a lot in that department. I think this album will have a lot of firsts for Avril, which makes it exciting. She has a duet with Chad on the album, she worked a lot with The Runners & has never had a song sound like the songs they produce. After declining in popularity after the last few years, this is really her moment to show everything we as fans know she's got. 10 years Complicated is trending on Twitter now. This song is timeless, still sounding very fresh to me whenever I listen to it. Most of the album still sounds fresh to me. "I'm With You" is one of the best songs in the last decade, in my opinion. |

Even though Ci is my co favorite and they have nothing in common musically, it's good that he lets her go first. Both of them need all the individual attention they can get and he signed both of them to Their first record deals and believed in them so I'm sure they are his most important projects

^ Ten years ago, she never would have worn pink clothes or put colored streaks in her hair, so yes, her style has changed.
I think she actually looks younger now than she did then.

The more we wait, the more I think we won't see a single until 2013. I don't think LA Reid would make her compete in Q4, especially if he's giving all he's got to Ciara soon. They needed to release the first single in May. Not many big female names are out right now (plus, Katy is about to take a break). We saw what happened to Nelly Furtado after waiting too long.

Plenty of albums come out in December that aren't Christmas albums... but I don't think that's the best strategy for Avril who's looking at making a commercial comeback, she could easily get lost in the shuffle with all the competition. If they really want a 4th quarter release, I'd say anytime before the week of Black Friday would be fine |

Well, given the single, Ciara's doing Ciara again, which has not worked the last 23 times she tried (LSM doesn't count, as it was way poppier). Regarding Avril, I'm gonna bare till the single drops, then judge, but IMO she has it easier, as GL > BI album-and-single-wise. |

^Ciaras airplay without going for adds is doing very well for someone coming off a flop so don't count her out yet. Regardless he's working with two different promotional strategies for his girls because one is an urban crossover artist and the other is not. I see both girls having better commercial eras then their last ones.

If the album is truly finished I don't think it is a good sign that they might sit on it until some time next year. I don't think Ciara's release is going to completely push Avril back... hopefully :/

Avril's last era wasn't the best as far as sales, but the material was good. Radio was just being too stubborn. She had some nice records on her last album. As far as Ciara goes, she and Avril are like oranges and apples. They have nothing to do with one another. LA will figure it all out. Now, about Nelly Furtado she's getting everything together, not everything will be an instant hit.

Have we discussed this yet?  Part of me groans because pretty much every other **rebellious!!!!!11** female artist has had this cut by now (including Cassie, Kesha, and 100 other people) but at the same time this is the first time Avril has made a truly drastic cut to her hair if I am remembering correctly. Like, it has typically been long and straight her entire career with just some highlights thrown in sometimes. She sort of looks...sick in the picture or something. |
