This thread is a flop . Is there anything for us to discuss ? actualy there is a confusion about the direction of the (sound of the) album... I doubt it will have anyhting with Dance/club vibe Some producers are hip-hop producers others are post-grunge, rock... She said something about change..." change is good" and maybe her image in Goodbye video are a hint of something more mature and sexual in the so close next era.... I really like the ideia of a mature Avril. Mature Lyrics. Even it means to lose a lot of her fanbase. I also believe that she is working for success in this album... I mean, comercial success.

I think Avril and her label are both in interesting spots right now. Hopefully they both realize that she almost has two different demographics of her fan-base. She has the fans that prefer the Let Go and Under My Skin era Avril and the fans that like the The Best Damn Thing/a more pop like Avril. If they can merge both sounds in this next album I think she has a real good chance at getting back the airplay on radio that she has lost over they last couple of years.

Those sounds were kind of merged on Goodbye Lullaby, though. You had the three singles for the Best Damn Thing fans, and the rest for the LG and UMS era fans. I guess maybe they weren't that pop-rock, but still. I just hope she can maintain some level of success, but I don't think releasing novelty singles is the way to go about it (Girlfriend, WTH). Hopefully ballads like "Won't Let You Go" will make it. I think there might also be one rap-sung collaboration, because she said she really liked Airplanes and did it live during the tour.

Hopefully we'll have a single by the summer. Yeah Goodbye Lullaby did merge everything together more but I don't think it was a return to Let Go and Under My Skin. I'm not saying she should just revert back to her older music because she is older now, I just hope somehow her next album has a sound that is able to bring some of her older fans back to buying her music.

And a more mature image. No more colours in her hair please. If the music is mature then her image should definitely reflect that.
She looked so nice in the "Wish You Were Here" video.

^ Yeah I kind of agree. For some reason, people like to criticize her and say she's immature when she does the hair-colored thing, (but say nothing about Gaga and Minaj). But yeah, I guess as a more singer-songwriter, she should stick to the blonde/brown.

People criticize Avril because her image has changed drastically since she broke out 10 years ago. Back then, most people never would have guessed that someday her hair would be platinum blonde with pink highlights, and I'm sure Avril herself would have laughed at the idea, too. GaGa and Nicki, on the other hand, have been doing the whole "outrageous" thing since the beginning of their respective careers. It's expected of them. Also, with Goodbye Lullaby, Avril was trying to push herself as a mature singer-songwriter, and it's difficult to view her as such with lime-green streaks in her hair.
Anyway, I'm dying for new music. I hope she announces something soon. If she's putting the finishing touches on the album, we should have the single no later than, what, May or June?

Just because someone has finished an album doesnt mean theyre going to go ahead and start releasing it or the 1st single straight away, shes had a busy year last year and so far she seems to have been in the studio a lot, it wouldnt surprise me if she wanted a 6 month break for herself before she starts releasing anything.

They aren't going to wait 6 months after the album's completion to release the first single. That's a ridiculous notion. If she wanted a lengthy break, she would have taken one before starting work on the album.

^ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Nasty_&_LVMApparently he confirmed on Twitter that he worked with Avril? I looked through his Twitter and couldn't find any tweets about her. EDIT: DJ Nasty co-owns We The Best Management, which houses The Runners. Maybe that's the connection?

In fact, looking at how they have handled them both since the signing, is pretty obvious that between the two of them, Avril is one step ahead in their priority list.

Avril realistically has only had one underperforming album in her career. She WILL make a good comeback. Tons of artists have had an album tank and have talk of being "finished" thrown around. Avril seems determined to nip her problem in the bud and not become more irrelevant. Whether payola is used initially to gain some interest in her project or not, L.A Reid will make sure her album is a hit. He's not going to let Epic fail from the get-go.

Yeah, but she needs to work real hard to get back on top again. Thank God, it looks like she know it and she is very hard-working now

In fact, looking at how they have handled them both since the signing, is pretty obvious that between the two of them, Avril is one step ahead in their priority list. As it should be. Ciara has had two(?) flop albums in a row, whereas Avril has only had one (and even it sold over a million copies WW). Avril is in a much better position than Ciara to make a comeback. I'm feeling pretty good about the upcoming era. She seems focused and determined, and LA Reid is back in her corner. Hopefully the music is up to snuff.
