Meh. Pretty bland track-listing. Do people still buy this?

I still buy these every year... I almost feel committed to buying them! Guess I tend to just like the mix-jobs, even if they suck sometimes.

Yeah. That was always one of the fun things about the MuchDance series, how they went from one song to another. i was committed to buying Big Shiny tunes for a while (have 1- 12), stopped a few years before that series ended. Wonder if they'll ever bring it back if rock music makes a comeback.

I'd love the BST series to make a return, but based on the fact that Foster The People, easily the most accessible alt track this year is on MuchDance, I'm guessing it's not this year!

Good tracklisting, but I would not really call this 'dance' music in the traditional sense. This is what it has come to. The compilations used to be a mixture of mainstream hits and some club/underground dance hits. Then that balance between the two began to tip towards more mainstream and less dance, and now it's all mainstream. It's like one of those Now compilations. Here are the tracklistings for all the comps in this series ever since they began back in the 90s. Take a look at how the types of songs they featured began to change and shift. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MuchDance#Dance_Mix_.2790

I did like the old Much compilations when they were Dance Mix (year). Now they're essentially upbeat pop compilations that don't stand out from the rest. Though this one is particularly current for such a compilation.

Like was said, they do stand out in the sense that they tracks essentially run into one another by some remixing and strategic song placing.

Oh, absolutely... the mid-90s Dance Mix CDs are soooo different than what the MuchDance series has become... that said, for the most part, the name still applies simply because when you go clubbing, let's face it, these are the songs that have people on the dancefloor... dancing.

True.
I was trying to think of what types of songs would even go on a Dance Mix 11 album and I can't really think of any non-mainstream but still relatively popular dance songs. Of course, I'm not really up on the underground dance scene anyway.
