This is interesting...I'm really very curious to know how this track has qualified for Canadian content.
As far as I can tell, none of these artists are Canadian. Not even Bobby Anthony who is also listed as featured vocalist secondary to Snoop Dogg.
Let's see here...
M (music) β the music is composed entirely by a Canadian.
- Ian Carey is an American house DJ and record producer. So perhaps the composer might have a Canadian connection?
A (artist) β the music is, or the lyrics are, performed principally by a Canadian
- Highly unlikely
P (performance) β the musical selection consists of a performance that is: recorded wholly in Canada, or performed wholly in Canada and broadcast live in Canada.
- Was this track recorded in a studio somewhere in Canada?
L (lyrics) β the lyrics are written entirely by a Canadian
- Though Carey is also a songwriter, I'm not sure whom the songwriting credits go to here
There are four special cases where a musical selection may qualify as Canadian content:
The musical selection was recorded before January 1972 and meets one, rather than two, of the above conditions.
- Not applicable
It is an instrumental performance of a musical composition written or composed by a Canadian.
- Highly doubt that
It is a performance of a musical composition that a Canadian has composed for instruments only.
- Seriously doubt that
The musical selection was performed live or recorded after September 1, 1991, and, in addition to meeting the criterion for either artist or production, a Canadian who has collaborated with a non-Canadian receives at least half of the credit for both music and lyrics.
- There might be something here, but I'm not quite sure what it is
If someone can please figure out what the CanCon qualifications are, I would really appreciate it!
Aside from all that, it's a great track.
