I think Def Jam should really let WFL run it's course. Its doing extremely well. Like I predicted it'll probably keep number one till the album release. Whos the next contender for the #1 spot?

The only other song that kinda has a chance in the near future is The One That Got Away. It has a ton of promo coming up, and the video is going to be released this week. Its going to be difficult for it to make up for the airplay difference though, but its definitely possible. Other than that, I see We Found Love being #1 for a while. This week is in the bag, and next week is looking very likely. I can see It Will Rain having a shot closer to the holidays as well.

I noticed that artists who are mostly focused on their music tend to have less burn out issues. Artists who try to be actors and do all these other things and be every where at once tend to have much higher burn out rates. Beyonce can't buy a Top 10 single on the HOT 100 right now and she's only 4 albums into her solo career. Rihanna and Drake on the other hand can release as much material as they want and radio seems like they will find a way to play it no matter what.

Drake?
He's practically an example of someone who does everything.

Drake? He's practically an example of someone who does everything. So he's still doing TV shows like that while trying to promote an album etc? Lately it seems as though music has been almost exclusively his sole focus.

I'm starting to think Rihanna's second single will bump herself off the top spot; she'd be the first female solo artist to do it too.

As much as I would love Rihanna to replace herself atop the Hot 100, I'm not too sure that will happen unless they release the second song to iTunes before the album release, and even that will take huge digital sales. If they release the album, the most popular (and most downloaded) track on the album will likely debut high on the Hot 100, but the competition between the most popular track and the album will likely keep its sales relatively low.
Look at Lady Gaga; Born This Way, Judas, Edge of Glory and Hair all had massive first week sales considering the lack of promo. But come the release of Born This Way, the album competed with You & I, the album's most popular and most promoted non-single, and it debuted at #36, far lower than the tracks released before the album's release date.

To see Party Rock Anthem falling and soon to be under Give Me Everything only gets to show the latter's monsterous longetivity. Does anyone know how much it's sold? 7.4 milion perhaps? :)

I've noticed "Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites" by Skrillex sitting in the itunes 100 (in the 80's) for the past four or five weeks, but no Hot 100 entry to date. Now it's at 79... does anyone know if this was bubbling under and how on earth is this a blip on anyone's radar when I've never heard it promoted on radio or anywhere for that matter?

Dubstep is the most buzzed about new subgenre, and Skrillex is the face of it. Sometimes "promotion" means word of mouth.

I've heard Skrillex's stuff before, but on euro stations or dance channels on SiriusXM - was just surprised that he crossed over enough to register on the itunes 100 and stay in there for the past several weeks. But with next to zero mainstream radio support, this is going to have a lot of trouble charting on the Hot 100 right?

Arethere any major new releases to iTunes this week? If not, Rihanna and WFL looks as if she and it will remain unchallenged for a 3rd week atop the Hot 100.

It's possible it could spend a few weeks at the bottom of the Hot 100, but that's the most I could see. Beyond being unknown in the mainstream, Skrillex has to contend with having a nearly-vocal-free song here, which rarely ever do well. I wouldn't find that disappointing though -- I think it's pretty amazing that he's done so well so far.

It would probably be the first dubstep vocal-free track on the Hot 100 if it did pull it off right? I wouldn't expect much for a peak position, but just to even crack the Hot 100 would be a feat.
Actually, what was the last vocal-free track (of any genre) that charted on the Hot 100?

With daily gains of 2 mil+, Rih should get it eventually no problem. Not like anything else is going to beat her to #1 Adele will free fall soon enough, MLJ will be in -1mil territory soon and SH doesn't look like it's going to go much higher.
