Drake's 'Take Care' Cruising to 700,000-Plus Debut
November 16, 2011 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles It should surprise nobody, but Drake's second full-length studio album, "Take Care," is on its way to a monster debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week.
Industry sources suggest the set could sell as many as 725,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, Nov. 20.
"Care" may rack up the third-largest sales week of 2011, after Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" start (964,000).
Drake: William Morris' Dave Wirtschafter Talks About Agency's Big Plans for the Superstar MC-Actor
Drake's first album, last year's "Thank Me Later," started at No. 1 with 447,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan, on the Billboard 200 chart dated July 3, 2010. He previously charted with the "So Far Gone" (EP) in October 2009, which topped out at No. 6.
Also on tap for possible debuts in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart next week: Childish Gambino's "Camp" and "Glee, the Music: The Christmas Album Volume 2." The latter may sell around 70,000 while "Camp" could shift perhaps 50,000.
Andrea Bocelli's new live set, "Concerto: One Night In Central Park," could make a top 10 arrival as well. The album features guest turns from Celine Dion, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban and David Foster, and was recorded during Bocelli's free show on Sept. 15 at the New York City venue's great lawn.

Great for Drake, but I've been saying it for weeks that IDJ should have bumped Rihanna to Nov 28th.

Great sales for Drake. Jewish rappers are taking over!!
If his single choices and everything aren't screwed over (like last album), then this album will easily outsell his debut and soar past 2 million.

So next week top 5 should be among Drake, Nickelback, Buble, Rihanna, Daughtry and Taylor? Adele is out of top 5 then :|

Those are some killer numbers for Drake. Unfortunately though, I'm afraid like with most Rap albums, it won't have very strong legs... But I could be wrong, let's hope so!

I'm pleasantly surprised about Drake's numbers... Thought 550k myself but he has some great buzz going.

Black Friday is a big sales week and they timed WFL's release perfectly according to the schedule. Sales are more important than #1s, and besides, she could do promo next year when the competition is lower.

In Judaism if the mom is jewish, you're a Jew. No one is "half jew" you could say your gradpa or something was jewish so you're "a quarter jewish", but in reality you're not jewish. Just so you know, here in Israel every jew is entitled to immigrate to Israel automatically and get benefits. When the USSR disassembled in 1991, many came to Israel claiming their grandpa or some relative was jewish and Israel acknowledged them as jews, when they weren't. That's why every once in a while there are news about Russian-Israelis that are members of Neo-Nazi movement and some even burnt Synagogues...

Since Drake and Mac Miller's mom are Jewish they are Jewish. Plus I think they both had bat mitvahs so they are "officially" Jewish. Not that their religion matters but it is very weird to have Jewish rappers have #1s two weeks in a row. What are the odd of that? 5% ;)

Most of Mac's sales were digital though, and I'm guessing Drake's digital total will be huge as well. More and more white suburban teenagers are simply just downloading the album off iTunes now.

CONGRATULATIONS DRAKE! I'm getting the Deluxe Edition tomorrow, pay dayyy! There goes Rihannas chances... Rihanna could pull an upset and easily sell over 250k. Or she could snatch that #1 spot in December or January. Either way, Rihanna, IDJ, and the Rihanna Navy will be just fine! *sips tea*

Great for Drake, but I've been saying it for weeks that IDJ should have bumped Rihanna to Nov 28th. As much as I would love a #1 debut for Rihanna, I really think she will sell very well next week even if she falls short. Plus, with her tour coming to a close by the end of the year and more space in her schedule to promote, she could get it at the start of next year (like Nicki Minaj when she debuted with big sales but didn't get to #1 until the winter of 2011). That is great for Drake, though! I feel like he will exceed the 725,000. I'm putting total first week sales at 740,000.

Drake will easily have next week's #1 album and Childish Gambino gets off to a very impressive start. Michael Buble begins his holiday surge with what may be the biggest holiday album of the season. Keep on eye on Buble next week as he could be a spoiler to a #1 debut by Rihanna or Nickelback. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend.
*Drake (YM/CM/Universal Republic) 700-725k Michael Buble (Reprise) 160-180k Adele (XL/Columbia) 100-110k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 75-80k *Andrea Bocelli (Decca) 70-75k *Glee Christmas, Vol. 2 (Columbia) 70-75k Now 40 (Capitol/EMI) 65-70k Susan Boyle (Syco/Columbia) 60-65k Coldplay (Capitol/EMI) 55-60k *Childish Gambino (Glassnote) 50-55k Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Chop Shop/Atlantic) 50-55k Jackie Evancho Heavenly Christmas (Syco/Columbia) 35-40k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 30-35k Scotty McCreery (Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope) 30-35k Wale (Warner Bros.) 30-35k Mac Miller (Rostrum) 30-35k
*Debuts (11/17p)

Adele Top 3!
SuBo hanging on.
Jackie Evancho moving up.
That's quite a fall for Mac MIller.

If Mac falls somewhere in the middle of that projection that would lead him to a ~77% drop. He'll probably have a similar chart run to Wale then

It's not helping Mac Miller that he has no single at radio.

Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 30-35k
^ How did I not notice that this was having that kind of longevity? Is this mostly due to the country award shows?

So, does HITS think Drake is not going to be in contention for No. 1 the week after?
It's beginning to look a lot like a Buble Christmas.

Anyways this is about exactly what I expected for Drake. He has only gotten bigger since last year so it makes sense that he would start higher especially now that he's one of rap's MVPs.

Can you imagine if Buble is somehow #1 over debuts by Rihanna and Nickelback and a second week by Drake? LOL.
