Three highest songs on Mediabase top 40 chart not played on Rick Dees weekly top 40 are:

Here is the answer why Dees didn't include Kanye and Jay-z in his personal chart, is that it sounds too different, it's not about words, but simply the sound as he doesn't play different sounding urban, especially rap songs. If somebody says that it's pop chart and not urban music chart, then I will remind them that those songs have crossed over to pop chart. I guess in Rick Dees sense there is no point of songs crossing over, he still refuses to have variety in his personal music chart show, even this Hollywood Hamilton played Jay-z and Kanye West. Another fact how extremely Rick Dees violated pop chart is that next week "In Paris" will go recurrent in mediabase chart, which means that in real and actual American pop music top 40 chart the song has been already 20 weeks - that big is Rick Dees violation, especially towards great rap music which is happening right now.

You can also put into the same category Big Sean with his two top 40 hits "My Last" and "Dance".

^Hmm. "Give Me All Your Luvin' " spent five weeks on Billboard's Top 40 Mainstream/Pop Songs chart, and five weeks on Rick Dees' chart. Yeah, big difference there.

The track peaked seven spots higher on Dees' countdown than on Billboard's, but since it's not compiled in the same manner as BB, that's not even an issue.

So "Turn Me On" fall off the chart from no 2, this must be some new record, radio must have stopped playing the song altogether or maybe Dees made room for a song that shouldn't be in the chart - Madonna's new one.

It's the highest position I have documented. I remember Bedrock climing up his chart to #12 and then suddenly disappear back in 2010. The song spent only 6 weeks on his chart, yet, somehow managed to place in his Top 40 of 2010 countdown show at #36. I also recall Imma Be falling off his chart from somewhere inside his Top 10 as well.

I beleive this might have something to do with Starship closing in on the top 10. I have noticed Dees countdown follows trends somewhat...even if it does not mirror mediabase. The one inconsistency is he does not like to have the same artist with in a 10 section.
So perhaps it was known "Turn Me On" was leaving the top 10. He knew that 3 songs would debut...Madonna, K' naann, and Taylor Swift. Which given the weekly top 40 trends all 3 make sense. And perhaps the cordnators just forgot about it...given in a normal week it would still be number 3 or 4.

However "Sorry for Party Rocking" should have left instead.

Guys, this is so obvious what's happening: it's a mistake. They just forgot about it.

Lots of mistakes happen with this show. I remember last year, the chart was a complete random dartboard, and at some point they tried to fix it. With "Just Can't Get Enough" down really low to #36, they tried to fix up their chart by providing more accurate figures, so the week after it rose up 17 spots to #19. The show's production is a total mess and they should be fired for more professional chart makers. Don't be surprised if Turn Me On re-appears next week around #8-10.

I've been noticiing some big drop-offs on his Hot AC chart in recent weeks too. Thankfully not all the way from #2, but last week Snow Patrol's "Coming Out Of The Dark" dropped off the chart from #21, and this week Foster The People's "Don't Stop (Color The Walls)" dropped off from #26. In all fairness though, both songs plummeted rapidly off the Mediabase Hot AC chart, so those drop-offs are fairly accurate representations of what was going on.

This week Adam Lambert's "Better Than I Know Myself" moves up to #18 on Rick's Hot AC chart. However, this week this song made an almost unheard of 19 spot drop down to #37 on the Mediabase Hot AC chart. Therefore, it would not surprise me if this song just disappears from Rick's Hot AC chart one of these weeks from where it is right now.

However, I totally agree that any song dropping off the chart all the way from #2 drastically cuts into the "accuracy" of the chart, even if it is compiled using the "dartboard" method!

That's why we both compile a proper year-end chart of the respective Rick Dees charts using the traditional inverse points method.
