Any indication yet whether Luke Bryan will try for a 2nd week at #1? He's doing a second week as co-host on CCUSA, so I'd bet on it.

Commentary/Highlights A nice mini cleaning at the top and an iHeartMedia hangover help the charts this week a lot. As a lot of songs had really strong weeks and set new peaks this week.
At the top for the first of what is expected to be 2 weeks is Luke Bryan with “One Margarita”. After that expect singles from Sam Hunt and Miranda Lambert both of which had solid weeks, especially Sam Hunt who could go for multiple weeks but I suspect will only go for a single week. With one of Chris Janson and LoCash looking to round out the Top 5 as both look to hit #1 as soon as Sam Hunt and Miranda Lambert clear out.
Kenny Chesney spends his final week more than likely outside the Top 5 (I do think he could be in the Top 5 but I think it is no higher than 20%) in a solid freefall. Maddie & Tae move up 2 spots to #8 with “Die From A Broken Heart” becoming their second highest charting song surpassing “Fly” which peaked at #9 back in September of 2015. The rest of the Top 10 should be rounded out by 2 of “I Love My Country” by Florida Georgia Line, “Why We Drink” by Justin Moore, and “Be A Light” by Thomas Rhett, Reba, Hillary Scott, Keith Urban and Chris Tomlin with the one left out replacing Kenny Chesney next week.
Keith Urban continues to climb rather slowly as Kane Brown continues to slash the gap between the two and could pass “God Whispered Your Name” next week. Speaking of which Tim McGraw looks to sneak past Ashley McBryde as “One Night Standards” is starting to emerge as a weak link in the Top 20, not the weakest but Ashley is not looking very strong. Jameson Rodgers, Jason Aldean, and Luke Combs pick up Top 20 conversions this week as all see very strong gains this week. Same can’t be said for Chase Rice as “Lonely If You Are” is at this point floating by not doing much of anything and the last slot in the Top 20 should go to Matt Stell “Everywhere But On”
Lee Brice “One Of Them Girls” continues to move very well up the chart as he should enter the Top 20 next week, Brad Paisley meanwhile slows down a bit as the sales and streams around “No I In Beer” continue to remain underwhelming. Kip Moore should finally break out of his #25 to #28 funk going all the way up to #23. HARDY & Lauren Alaina (and Devin Dawson who is somewhere on the song) finally also set a new peak and should be at #24 or #25 dependent upon Parker McCollum really relied on Westwood One and as such pretty much a non mover and only moving up to #25 due to the songs below being pretty far behind. That being said I do think this was a fluke week for “Pretty Heart” and I think next week will be a good week for Parker. Speaking of the songs below, Midland is starting to pick up the pace after entering the Top 30 last week. And the four songs looking to enter the Top 30 this week are Jon Pardi “It Ain’t Always The Cowboy” which is starting to pick up the pace this week, Lady A and high selling song “Champagne Night”, Old Dominion “Some People Do” who after having a great week last week struggled to gain any traction this week, and finally Morgan Wallen “More Than My Hometown which is off to a very strong start and already in the Hot 100 despite just now entering the Top 30.
Below the Top 30, Russel Dickerson nears his fourth Top 30 single with “Love You Like I Used To”, Chris Lane also has another solid week as Kane Brown’s “Worldwide Beautiful” seems to have peaked. Jon Langston continues to overall struggle with “Now You Know” but should be sucked up to a peak at #34 or #35 depending if Lauren Alaina who had another strong week with “Getting Good” will pass him. Speaking of Lauren Alaina it does seem she is beginning to get some traction on radio with “Getting Good”. Dustin Lynch struggled this week with “Momma’s House” and has allowed singles from Rascal Flatts and Brothers Osborne to potentially pass him this week, rounding out the Top 40 should be Eric Church having the setback week after his huge debut this week and thanks to “Women of iHeart Country” adding it Tenille Arts with “Somebody Like That” her very first Top 40 single.
In the 40s and 50s, most songs have solid weeks especially singles from Kelsea Ballerini, Jordan Davis, however singles from Maren Morris, Brett Eldredge, and Granger Smith overall still stand out as weak links. Also songs from Ryan Hurd and Gabby Barrett are not expected to move much in audience this week Look for Cole Swindell and Runaway June to debut this week after going for adds last week and I suspect Stephanie Quayle will fill out the last Top 60 slot.
Songs I see Leaving Soon Kenny Chesney “Here and Now” Chase Rice “Lonely If You Are” Kane Brown “Worldwide Beautiful” Maren Morris “To Hell & Back”
Songs In Danger Florida Georgia Line “I Love My Country” Keith Urban “God Whispered Your Name”
Songs I See Debuting/Returning Soon Kenny Chesney “Happy Does” Mackenzie Porter “These Days” Little Big Town “Wine, Beer, Whiskey”
Closing Thoughts Next week will be a bit of a give and trade, as Kenny Chesney is for sure going however with Luke Bryan all but a lock for a second week the gains next week will definitely shrink since there will be less available spins for a lot of the songs, so I won’t be shocked if a fair amount of songs have total non starts for the week.

If “Be A Light” hits the top 10 Reba will become the 6th artist in country music history with 60 top 10 singles. It will also put Keith Urban at 41 top 10’s.

Looks like I was wrong and "Nobody But You" got another week (Billboard is showing 27 weeks for the song), so next week should be Kenny Chesney and Blake/Gwen (Fucking finally) going recurrent and as of right now there are no iHeartMedia debuts (fingers crossed Chase Rice can join Blake and Kenny next week). Also really overestimated chart positions ("Getting Good" is at #38 instead of my predicted #34 to #35)
So because of how wrong I have been on predictions lately I think next week I might take a week long hiatus, haven't made up my mind but it is so discouraging to put in all that work (on average the predictions take 7 hours a week most of which is on Sunday) and then for the chart to come out and be completely wrong week in and week out, with this week being probably one of if not my worst showings judging by everything below the Top 6 being wrong for the most part. I might have a full chart next week, but I am pretty undecided on whether I will do a prediction next week.
I appreciate the kind words and compliments for my effort, I am just getting pissed that in the 4 to 5 years I have done chart watching and predictions I am pretty much never close to right in any particular week.

So yeah I will do predictions this week, because I do enjoy it at the end of the day. Looking ahead to next week I think Kenny Chesney will go recurrent, I want to say Blake/Gwen will but they will need Justin Moore to take them out due to the spin clause and there is a 280 spin gap between the two. Hopefully that song can finally gtfo after that though.
Also this should go without saying but that random Kane Brown song should leave since it looks to be exclusively an iHeartMedia thing (yeah I am not gonna fault myself for missing that one since I don't think it was on anyone's radar). Lastly of note Lauren Alaina has to rebullet or "Getting Good" is going recurrent.

I am ready for Morgan Wallen to leave with his "Chasin' You", that is song is so overplayed. I am tired of it! it went #1, now radio let it go and focus on "More Than My Hometown". Same with LoCash, 60 weeks on chart now, ridiculous, these charts runs continue to get longer as Billboard needs to change their criteria again for Country Airplay. This would be a rule I would make: After a song has hit #1, if it stays in the top ten but loses plays after 3 weeks, it's gone!!! Tired of songs that are big hits holding back songs on the charts for weeks and months after even peaking at #1. It's time for change Billboard!

I don't blame Billboard as much as I blame country radio for making these chart runs go on for so long. Billboard is just being fair and reporting the numbers, I blame the labels for promoting songs for a year and a half almost and country radio taking so long to convert and not telling the label to find a new song.

Oh I agree with your post, Raylatch98, and wish Country Radio would grow a backbone and tell these label heads that no we are not going to boost up the airplay for this artist as this song is not connecting with the audience so try something different. Max number of weeks I would promote a single if I was the head of a label would be 35 to 40 weeks, no longer. 60 to 70 weeks is way too long and ridiculous.

You better be doing these. I wish I was talented enough to do them. I think the majority of the Country Forum enjoys reading what you have to say about the chart before it comes out on a Monday night. As I said before, it is appointment reading. Keep up the good work!

Billboard is ha PITA to predict, no one expects anything other then a good educated guess.

Apologies for double post.
Based on scheduled promo (& a couple other things), my educated guess is that new Blake is coming week of July 24th

Commentary This week is a week that can be defined Song A still has not hit the Mediabase #1 while Song B took the #1 on Mediabase and not Band now Song C is trying to get too number one itself but Song A is going to stay at number 1 on Billboard and wait for next week to hit #1 on Mediabase. In case anyone needs clarification, “Lovin On You” is Song A, “I Love My Country” is Song B, and “Be A Light” is Song C. As such expect “Be A Light” to be a Mediabase only #1 and for Luke Combs to spend a second week at #1 on Billboard. After Luke Combs clears out I expect either Kane Brown gets to #1 or Lee Brice gets to #1 and blocks Kane Brown from #1. Afterwards expect Jason Aldean to be comfortably at #1 for awhile.
The bottom of the Top 10 should be a close battle with FGL in a massive freefall and expected to land around Tim McGraw who had a slow week, Jameson Rodgers, and Ashley McBryde who really picked up the pace this week. Most of the songs in the teens had solid weeks with the exception of Parker McCollum as “Pretty Heart” struggled to gain much traction this week. Chase Rice also slowed down a bit as his song is just so old. Also the surges of Russell Dickerson and Morgan Wallen with their latest singles has caused Dan + Shay and Jon Pardi to be pushed back a bit. Kenny Chesney has a great week with “Happy Does” as he nears the Top 20 as Kip Moore and Lady A struggle to gain much in terms of audience. Due to the gap between Niko Moon and the songs above him Chris Stpaleton’s iHeartMedia fall is not too hard. Look for Eric Church and Darius Rucker to re-enter the Top 30 after their initial iHeartMedia debut weeks.
Below the Top 30 Dustin Lynch looks to enter the Top 30 next week, Kelsea Ballerini passes a static Tenille Arts. Morgan Wallen “7 Summers” is off to an expected very fast start despite not even being the official single. Singles from Taylor Swift and Robert Counts have solid weeks as most songs in the 40s and 50s remain complacent and finally expect new arrivals from Old Dominion, a re-entry, and Lindsay Ell sneaking her way into the bottom of the charts.

The way Lee is moving I have a feeling he’s gonna block Kane on Billboard. One of Them Girls is gonna easily be the biggest hit of Lee’s career. It’s already the fastest moving song in his career. Great song and deserving of a multi week run at #1.

I think the next couple weeks will allow some songs in the 30’s to gain quite a few positions. In the next 1-3 weeks the following songs will be gone on MB and/or BB if they aren’t gone already:
- “God Whispered Your Name” - “Be a Light” - “One Night Standards” - “I Love My Country” - “No I In Beer” - “Cheatin’ Songs” - “I Love My Country”
Hopefully people such as Kelsea, Tenille, Chris S. and Taylor can have some strong weeks with those leaving the chart!

Looking like at least 4 songs in top 40 going recurrent (One Night Standards, No I in Beer, I Love My Country and Cheatin’ Songs). I think Die From A Broken Heart may hang in top 10 1 more week.

Commentary Another housecleaning really helps break the charts even more wide open. Next week looks to be a big cooldown as outside of Maddie & Tae leaving and maybe Lauren Alaina finally waving the white flag I don’t see a lot of recurrent candidates. But onto this week as the top of the chart remains static as Luke Combs spends a fourth week at #1 with “Lovin On You”, and all 3 of Lee Brice “One Of Them Girls”, Kane Brown “Cool Again”, and Jason Aldean “Got What I Got” spending another week at #2, #3, #4, respectively with the only action in the top 5 potentially being Maddie & Tae being swapped out with Jameson Rodgers for the #5 spot.
Tim McGraw continues to remain in a safe spot to coast as Matt Stell and Blake/Gwen are not close enough to pass “I Called Mama”. That being said “I Called Mama” was a bit lacking in gains compared to its competitors. I still think Tim McGraw could hit #1 but this week did give me a bit of pause. Speaking of Matt Stell and Blake/Gwen both pick up strong Top 10 conversions especially the latter as “Happy Anywhere” continues to do well. Rounding out the Top 10 should be HARDY and his collaboration with Lauren Alaina & Devin Dawson “One Beer” as this will be HARDY’s first Top 10, Devin Dawson’s second (“All On Me) and Lauren Alaina’s third (“Road Less Travelled” and “What Ifs”).
Below the Top 10 is Russell Dickerson who saw a huge week of gains for “Love You Like I Used To” which has really taken off in recent weeks as if it lands at #11 it would mean this song has gained 4 spots each of the past 3 weeks (#23-#19-#15). Chase Rice also continues to gain, not quite as well as Russell Dickerson but Chase Rice is definitely hanging in there in his 64th week on the chart. Morgan Wallen also saw a strong week of gains as he nears his fourth Top 10 with “More Than My Hometown”. Parker McCollum continues to do well with “Pretty Heart” especially after last week was a bit underwhelming compared to his peers. Jon Pardi will set a new peak of #15 with “Ain’t Always The Cowboy” but the gains definitely slowed down this week compared to last week. Kenny Chesney and Dan + Shay have decent weeks but it is Chris Lane's “Big Big Plans” that will be entering the Top 20 and stands a chance to sneak ahead at least temporarily. Rounding out the Top 20 and the other new entries to the Top 20 is Lady A “Champagne Night” and Kip Moore “She’s Mine”. Both songs that have not gained a ton of traction in the Top 30 but with both now in the Top 20 things could definitely change around for both songs but I suspect both will miss the Top 10.
Below the Top 20 is Chris Stapleton who in his fourth week is already knocking on the Top 20 door as “Starting Over” is moving very well. Also doing well are singles from Darius Rucker and Rascal Flatts as both songs look to take advantage of the much slower singles from Dustin Lynch who crawled this week, Eric Church who remained static with “Stick That In Your Country Song”, and Niko Moon who remained consistent with last weeks gains but gout outpaced by “Beers & Sunshine” and “How They Remember You”. Look for the new Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles duet “Do What You Can” to debut in between the gap between Eric Church and Kelsea Ballerini. Speaking of Kelsea Ballerini expect her to enter the Top 30 in her 16th week as “Hole In The Bottle” looks like a future #1. Also entering the Top 30 should be Morgan Wallen with “7 Summers” in that song's 5th week on the chart. The last slot looks to go to either Lauren Alaina in her 47th week charting for “Getting Good” and that would mark Lauren’s sixth Top 30 entry or Tenille Arts with “Somebody Like That” in Tenille’s 32nd week on the chart which would be her very first Top 30 single on Billboard.
In the 30s Taylor Swift nears her first solo Top 30 on country radio since “Red” back in 2013 as “Betty” continues to do really well. Main things to take away is that Dylan Scott “Nobody” is starting to gain some serious traction, I would also look for Brett Young to enter the Top 40 and at least one of Gabby Barrett or Parmalee/Blanco Brown enter the Top 40 depending on how far FGL fell in their second week with “Long Live”.
Rounding out the bottom of the charts. Brantley Gilbert, Jake Owen, and Runaway June struggle to gain traction while singles from Little Big Town and Robert Counts see very solid gains this week. Lastly in the 50s A Thousand Horses and Caroline Jones see decent gains for songs in the 50s and I would expect LoCash to debut with their new single and for Pyror & Lee to re-enter again with “Y’allsome” as no progress is made from singles by Travis Denning, Eli Young Band or Mitchell Tenpenny this week.
