Winehouse's album ranked No. 16 on the Billboard 200 last week (compared to 31 on HITS)- so, unless it's another case of having significantly higher numbers via SS, there shouldn't be a gain on the BB 200.

They did it with Leona's album in the UK to add that "Sweet Escape" sound-a-like, a second dance track and her #1 song "Run."

I'm glad we didn't have to wait as long as we did last week. We owe Adele big time! otherwise, would it be a new low for the #1 album?

Or close to hit, I think Amos Lee was lower last year.
But yeah won't have to read about January lows for #1's this year

For the dance-pop crossover stuff if I remember right? I wouldn't call "A Perfectly Good Heart," "Invisible," "Untouchable," "Come in with the Rain," "The Other Side of the Door" dance or pop.

Not sure about a new low for a #1 album since I think Drake's 43k sales in sales are greater than Amos Lee's numbers last January, but I totally agree that Adele is keeping that number one spot mighty warm with 6-figure sales. Is she the last artist since Kesha to do so?

No, all #1 albums were over 100k in January 2010. Pretty sure Need You Now was released in that January and that did nearly 500k.

Adele I got my eye on you for your next album...Britney is going to have to have a miracle for slaydele not to snatch that scalp for the 1.3 m first week sales...I'll cry in silence when it happens....sigh :'( I wouldn't book it. Adele has been selling so well because she's hitting almost all demographics right now, not least the people who don't usually buy music at all. The people who in the past bought Norah Jones albums. The adult contemporary market of people who rarely buy music has always been THE most lucrative of all markets, but very hard to crack. However, these are not the people lining up for a new release. Infact it may be months after a new release before they even discover that it is out. Someone like Lady Gaga with Born This Way was probably in a better position to beat that record. She also had huge sales (not AS huge, but still huge) and unlike Adele she had a massive dedicated following. Infact, if she had a better single than "Born This Way" to start the campaign (something of Bad Romance/Poker Face quality), I'm sure she would have beaten the Britney record. Anyway, Adele would be CRAZY not to release Rumour Has It. Not sure about Turning Tables, though. Might be better to repromote Chasing Pavements, Hometown Glory or Make You Feel My Love. i dont think going back to 19 would be a great idea at all. focus on 21, two more mainstream singles (TT & RHI), then one more single sent to AC, Hot ac, and AAA

The album to watch out for is the Black Keys' El Camino, they are selling quite well and if they perform at the Grammys or score a crossover hit (ala Kings of Leon's Use Somebody) they could likely sell 1 million this year.
Florence + The Machine is doing solid business as well and Lungs is back up in the top 50
And thanks indeed to Adele for making January sales quite interesting, she may drop below 100k though but hopefully not below 75k

It goes without saying that Adele's numbers are simply incredible, but I think it's also worth mentioning that she had one of the smallest decreases of anyone on the chart. It looks like most albums suffered a 20-50% loss in sales this week, but Adele's 21 only lost 16%.

19 got a re-release with a live album.
But if you're talking about new songs (as studio recordings) then I don't see it happening.. But 21 + live (her iTunes sessions or sth) to boost sales is definitely possible.
Should we clarify the term "re-release"? It's not that clear to me... Is a belated deluxe version a re-release or does it have to contain new material to be classified as re-release?

Any kind of material that was not previously included before (whether that be new songs, demo versions, or live recordings) would classify as a re-release to me. FTR, I don't necessarily think a re-release of any kind is likely. It's just that it's also not impossible or farfetched, so there's no harm in speculating about it. Also, I did some checking and it turns out the producer of Skyfall (the Bond movie) has denied having anyone confirmed to sing the theme song so far, so that may not actually be Adele's for the taking. (Though if she really wanted it I don't think it would take much to sway the Bond franchise into letting her have it.)

At this point Adele is the beyond obvious choice, and you can bet they know it.

Amy Winehouse was the beyond obvious choice for Quantum of Solace and that ended up going to Alicia Keys and Jack White.
