It seems it was ages ago when he released the song, but the truth is it was not long ago, in fact the song won't be recurrent if it falls outside top 10 this week (not going to happen obviously).

I think it will get a lot of airplay even after falling out of the chart and it will stay in the top 50 of the hot 100 for a long time

Er...actually it would. If it did in fact fall out of the Top 10 this week then it would join "Hello" and "Perfect" in Recurrent Land.

It just feels like "Sorry" has been around forever since not only has it gotten so much play, but "Love Yourself" followed it to the top so quickly, to the point that now he has two songs both declining but still in the top 10.

It was only six months ago that "Where Are You Now" was peaking and "What Do You Mean" was on its way up.

"Hello" and "Perfect" are going recurrent, tonight, and "Get Ugly" is getting purged. "Rock Bottom" and "Say It" will be pulled into the top 40.

And winning the "sometimes these things take a while" award are Panic! At The Disco. They crack the top 40 for the first time in, nearly, 9 and a half years. "Good Feeling" was more of a sleeper hit. It managed to get #1 after "It Will Rain" and "The One That Got Away", both of which were also smaller #1s, one week before "Set Fire To The Rain" took over. "Wild Ones" peaked right in the middle of "We Are Young"'s reign, and "Somebody That I Used To Know" overtook it. It was a victim of timing mostly. "Whistle" actually lucked out, reaching #1 in one of the least competitive times in recent memory ("Blow Me One Last Kiss" and "Give Your Heart A Break" also got #1 in this time). Its spins at the time were actually on par with songs that peaked at about #3.

Those are Billboard stats I think. For R&R it's Donna with 12. Natalie Imbruglia got 11. I think others may have gotten to 11 also.

The only other R&R 11-weeker I can recall is "We Belong Together".

And Az's stats aren't even Billboard; I have no idea where those are from if they're even correct. On BB's Mainstream chart the record holder is "The Sign" with 14 weeks.

It could be Mediabase records I'm thinking of. I thought 16 was the number of weeks that was kept throwing around for Donna when we were discussing the longevity record back when 'Bleeding Love' was enjoying its extended stay.

Of course now I think about it 16 is the longest #1 run on the Hot 100, and that was Mariah/Boyz II Men.
