Some of us need to get hired into her management services, I swear. This is exactly what I'm going to college for! If I get in, six years from now, "Blown Away" WILL be re-released to pop. :'(

^I think I would call it just being CONTENT. I have no problem with that because I'm a Country Music Fan and I'm going to listen to Country Radio and hear her songs. However, performing and recording duets with Steven Tyler and releasing songs with heavy Rock and Pop leaning sound tell me that she does not want to be Boxed into just the Country Genre. There are a lot forms of Country Music. And what Carrie does is called Country/Pop-Rock. It's got this Pop/Rock blend in the songs but it's still country music . Carrie herself has stated that her music is a different country, but the basic is still country. And about the duet thing, recording a song with Steven Tyler doesn't mean that she's not country. All the singer in every genre can duet with anyone outside their basis. Plus, all the duets that they have done are in a country world. 1. The ACM performance that they did was a country song. UNDO IT. 2. That CMT's CROSSROAD was also in country music channel. The reason why half of the show was not in country music because the show is called CROSSROAD, that means half country (Carrie) and half non-country (Steven Tyler). 3. and we haven't heard the song they recorded for Aerosmith album yet. It could be Country/Rock. It probably is Country Rock....however I'm betting it's not going to be marketed solely to the Country Genre.

IMO, she's stretching the country "envelope" by releasing Blown Away. By not releasing hers songs to pop tells the country music community, hey, I'm one of you and I'm not going anywhere. This might give her more creative license with her music. She might have had this stategy since the beginning. But, that's just my theory. I agree, with her overall genre appeal, I find it strange that she doesn't take advantage of this. But, maybe I'm on to something with my first paragraph. I think she's getting bad management advice from someone. I also don't think BA is stretching the Country Envelope. It seems less than a stretch than Undo it and GG to me. Being a Cross-Genre Artist seems to have been a good move for Taylor Swift, Lady A and for the right song even The Band Perry, Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson. Songs like Undo It and GG have very country sounding productions, even if they are rockish. Those songs can join the Jason Aldean bandwagon and not be out of the mainstream. BA is a rare thing in country music with it's production. There are alot of orchestra hits, echo, reverb, and compression on the voice. It has a country theme, but it does sound popish. Carrie sings it like she's singing country because of her slight twang, but this song it definitely streching the county genre. I don't mind that she's doing it, but others might find it "not country enough". Other songs on this album are definitely country, but BA is right on the edge, well, as of now. This song is a prime example of Carrie doing her thing and not getting flack from the country community because she doesn't try to sell out to other formats. She's country, she will always be country, and with this song, she saying, this is my definition of country. So be it. I like where she's taking the genre because we can't have our beloved country music becoming stale and not reaching other fans. I know people that won't even listen to country if you say that's what you're about to play. Carrie might want to encourage those folks to take a listen. Again, jmo.

Carrie always says that she wants to make country music more popular where it traditionally has not been. Just because she's collaborating with a rock band doesn't mean she's leaving country music behind. She's never been shy about proclaiming how her love of other genres influences her own brand of country music. If the duet with Aerosmith is marketed to rock radio also, I don't see anything wrong with that. If anything, it has the potential to bring in even more listeners to country music. It's all about opening people's eyes and showing that country music can be about much more than its stereotyped to be.

I'm all for her releasing her songs to other Markets. Some other people are saying she doesn't want to be marketed elsewhere. My point is that I bet Aerosmith will market the song elsewhere.

There is a difference as that song is on a Aerosmith album and not Carrie's. It is their call on what they want to do with the song.
As for Carrie, I think she is content with what she has in the country genre and has decided for whatever reason to not have her songs released to pop. Carrie has made the call not to release them to pop radio and so it seems the label has agreed to it. She has so much potential to be successful on other markets but she just chooses not to.

What is Blown Away (the album)'s total sales count after this week? It seems like sales have stabilized in the 12k-15k range for the time being, so hopefully as Blown Away (the single) builds, so does the album.
It's probably in the 630k range, yeah? Hopefully it can reach Platinum by the end of the year.

Uggh...keep going back and forth with what I think should be single #3. Now I'm leaning toward See You Again. They have plenty of time to decide though since Blown Away is just getting started.

Personally I'd love to see either "Do You Think About Me" or "Leave Love Alone" as the next single. After the dark pop ballad "Blown Away," I definitely think they should release something truly country. I think something a little lighter would be good, too, and both of those songs fit that.

I think Leave Love Alone would be good and then Two Black Cadillacs and then Wine After Whiskey. I'm concerned though that she won't release a 2nd song off the album that she had no hand in writing.

The only other ballad that I say will be released if anything is Good In Goodbye.
The other ones are great as well, but I think they'll release this regardless.

I still don't get Good in Goodbye. To me, it has no melody or at least no memorable melody. It's strange that that is the case sense Ryan Tedder wrote it with her and he seems to always have prominent instrumentation and a strong melody. Yeah I get the concept of the song but it seems to be that it is a not as good version of Garth Brooks' Unanswered Prayers. It just isn't catchy to me.
You may be right though. She had Wine After Whiskey in her hand for the Play On era but didn't even put it on the album so it's probably just a dream for me to expect her to release it. Not releasing Two Black Cadillacs I think would be a bigger mistake than what she did last era in passing over SWISLY and WCIS. That song needs to be released imho. For me, it is the second strongest cut on the album behind Blown Away and she did have a hand in writing it. That seems like such a no-brainer to me.

Now a few months in, I'm still stuck on "One Way Ticket" being a single. It's my current ringback tone, and because of that I've generated four sales of the song! Just today a coworker called and asked me not to pick up so she could call again and "jam" to it, after she asked me to cover a shift of course, to which I declined. Anyway, I think it's potentially Carrie's biggest Summer jam yet! I think it has moderate crossover potential too, but that's to be seen. I think the songs that need to be singles are "Two Black Cadillacs" and "Wine After Whiskey". My single choices at this point are; "Good Girl" "Blown Away" "Wine After Whiskey" - great Winter song, I think... "Two Black Cadillacs" "One Way Ticket" I love "See You Again" and "Good In Goodbye" but I do not see them as singles. Personally, although impossible, I'd love to see "Forever Changed" released as a single. The rest of the songs make perfect album tracks, some are possible singles, but there are far too many songs that NEED to be released. I'd hate to see any of those songs released over the songs I chose as singles.

Do You Think About Me next please. Then Two Black Cadillacs, then Wine After Whiskey and BAM we have a perfect era! But on her team's track record, that won't happen. It will probably be Good In Goodbye, Two Black Cadillacs, and One Way Ticket and Carrie can add DYTAM and WAW to her "missed opportunities" collection right next to "Starts With Goodbye", "Flat On The Floor", "I Know You Won't", and "Someday When I Stop Loving You".
I really am worried about DYTAM not being a single though. As someone just briefly mentioned, Carrie is known for only releasing songs she has written unless they are masterpieces - "Just a Dream", "Blown Away" - so even though I consider DYTAM to be in that masterpiece category, I'm scared Carrie and her team may not think so and release something she wrote ("Good in Goodbye" and "One Way Ticket") instead. I think DYTAM would be the perfect release to follow BA. It's definitely country, it's insanely catchy, and its a fantastically well-written song. It also has that same "awwwww" factor that so many people loved in Lee Brice's #1 smash, "A Woman Like You". I think most fans list DYTAM among their favorite five songs off the album and it's one of the better sellers on iTunes.
So I am team DYTAM, maybe not for the third single, but definitely an eventual single during this era.

Good In Goodbye is the most obvious choice for single #3, yet I doubt they'll ever pick it. :/
It's the strongest song on the album to be honest, and country radio would eat it UP.

I'm definitely not in the DYTAM camp. I don't think there is anything at all that stands out about the song. I would put LLA, WAW and GIG before DYTAM. I hope TBC is the 4th single and I'm on Board with OWT as the fifth. I think OWT would be a huge hit just like "Pontoon" is right now for Little Big Town.

I'd pick DYTAM. But I don't think she'd pick it. My guess is it will either be Cupid (which would be predictable and the wrong choice, IMO) or TBC.

I like DYTAM, it's cute, and has a somewhat catchy hook. But there are more radio-friendly songs on this album that should be released. If this were eventually released I'd be okay, but it's definitely not one of my favorite single choices.

I'm for DYTAM next. It's such an easy listen after her first two singles and will be a welcomed tempo. I also think it's one of the best written songs and best sung songs on the album. Plus it's sort of a different subject matter for her.
My perfect Era: GG, BA, DYTAM, TBC, GIG
I think it will be GG, BA, DYTAM, OWT, TBC
I do think OWT would do really well on radio, I just got tired of it pretty quickly.
