And I love Kelly to DEATH but I am honestly puzzled as to why she was nominated for this particular show (waiting for the hateful posts to come in 3...2...1). Don't worry, I'm pretty sure Kelly and her fans (myself included) are just as confused as you are!! Also, Blown Away is easily my favorite song on radio right now! :)

The CMA's snubbed Carrie. The sky is blue. Anything new in today's columns?

Despite all the CMA drama, I genuinely think that she could have a shot at EOTY at the ACM's next year if everything goes well (the tour, single and album sales, etc). AOTY, too. They've always treated her very well, unlike the CMA's, so I have high hopes.

Other than the EOTY snub at the 2011 ACMs. ;) But still, my hopes are higher for them.

"Blown Away" is being promoted to Hot AC by RCA instead of Arista Nashville. This is the first time RCA has been attached to a Carrie single, so there's been speculation that Carrie may have struck up a new deal with RCA to promote to other formats. And just to clarify, the Sony Nashville division has 3 imprints: Arista, Columbia, and RCA. There used to be an Arista New York, but that division closed. Sony New York now consists of Columbia, Epic, RCA, and Provident, and these labels are not to be confused with the Columbia or RCA Nashville imprints. So if "Blown Away" is indeed getting promotion to other formats via RCA Records, it would basically be the same as Arista New York, which no longer exists. The RCA here is the New York division, and not the Nashville one. This does put into question whether Carrie might do some stuff with RCA, or it could be just that they struck a deal for RCA to promote "Blown Away" only. Whatever the case, it's all quite interesting.

Are there sources for all this info about deals with RCA and such? I'm reading a lot of 'talk', but seeing nothing more than that. Not to discredit what people are saying, I'd just like to see for myself.

Note: on R&R, it's listed as "19/Arista Nashville," which is also what it said for "Good Girl" back in April. Don't know if that means anything, but that's what I know.

I'm not even surprised anymore she only has one nomination. I feel bad for her though, and I think she's not that happy as she has not tweeted about it or anything. The CMA twitter account even tweeted her congrats, but she hasn't replied or retweeted, which she normally does. But at this point I don't really care about them anymore, it's mostly politics and it has been for a long time.
Blown Away - the album - is back at #3 on the iTunes album chart.

"Blown Away" the album, looks to sell near, or above 50,000 copies this week.
Last week, with one day of the $6.99 sale price on iTunes, "Blown Away" outsold its original Hits prediction of 12-15k by ~15k to sell 28,000. This week, "Blown Away" has had four days at the sale price of $6.99 on iTunes, and is now on sale for the same price at Amazon.
Doing some simple math, ~50,000 seems likely.
Physical CD sales should maintain their 10-12k numbers. iTunes sales should be approximately 30k. 28k(BA's sales) - 14k(Hits original prediction) = ~ 14k = one day iTunes sales total. Knowing this, it's fair to assume that at the time, the #1 iTunes album was selling between 10-14k. Using this, and BA's steady decline on the iTunes chart, BA likely sold;
9/3 = ~ 9k 9/4 = ~ 7k 9/5 = ~ 6k Sales total = ~ 21-23k If on iTunes, BA maintains approximately 3k on 9/6, 9/7, and 9/8, BA's total iTunes sales would be approximately 30,000.
Then take into consideration the "Blown Away" sale on Amazon, say ~5k today, and ~5k combined for 9/7 and 9/8, that'd be another ~10k.
Add all the minimums up; 10,000 + 30,000 + 10,000 = ~ 50,000
Math was done by Pi314CA at Carriefans, and seems fairly accurate. Although the Amazon numbers are merely rough estimates. Nevertheless, next week should be a very big week of "Blown Away".

www.roughstock.com/blog/carrie-underwood-blown-away-4th-consecutive-platinum-album-single-is-16th-consecutive-top-10-hitMake it 4 for 4 for Carrie Underwood as today she has seen her fourth album Blown Away become her fourth album to be certified Platinum (the others are all multi-platinum). In addition to becoming her latest certified album, the country superstar has seen the album's title track "Blown Away" become her 16th (again, all of her official singles) Top 10 hit.
She has spent six non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart and also earned her seventh Female Vocalist of the Year nomination from the Country Music Association for the 46th Annual CMA Awards. Carrie will be co-hosting the awards show for the fifth time with her friend and fellow Arista Nashville label mate, Brad Paisley. The show will air Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 8-11PM /ET on ABC TV affiliates nationwide.
"Blown Away"'s placement in the Top 10 this week gives the star a new record as she is the only female artist to have scored so many Top 10 hits inBillboard Magazine's 68-year history!
Carrie begins her third headline Arena tour, "The Blown Away Tour," in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 14, 2012.
They worded the record statement weird.. They left out the word consecutively, as other females of more top 10's just not consecutively.

YOUR βWEβVE GOT OURS, YOUβRE ON YOUR OWNβ WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: Matchbox Twenty should debut at #1 next week with a total just into six digitsβand thatβll easily be enough to give it the top spot next Tuesday. Fighting it out for #2 will be the full-length debut from rockers Imagine Dragons (an EP has been out since May) and the latest from Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae (we didn't either). Here's how the not so pretty picture headed into the weekend:
* Matchbox Twenty (Atlantic) 100-110k * Lecrae (Reach) 65-70k * Imagine Dragons (Interscope) 65-70k Now 43 (Capitol/EMI) 35-40k Maroon 5 (A&M/Octone) 25-28k Fun. (Fueled by Ramen) 24-27k Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 24-27k Trey Songz (Atlantic) 24-27k 2 Chainz (Def Jam/IDJ) 24-27k TobyMac (Forefront) 24-27k Adele (XL/Columbia) 22-25k Lumineers (Dualtone) 19-22k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 18-21k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 17-20k * Two Door Cinema Club(Glassnote) 17-20k * Debuts (9/6p
I think they're severely underestimating Carrie's sales.

Wow! This album seems to be having longevity. Didn't Carnival Ride and Play On do well during the holidays but dropped out of the Top 30 so fast right after? This has been in the top 30 the whole time and looks like it's gonna do well during the holidays.

PO is #2 on iTunes all-genre, and I won't be surprised to see it move to #1 again. I'm thrilled to see that it's Platinum, too! Probably a little premature for the certification, but I'm sure that it'll pass 800k within the next two weeks of sales. Hopefully by year's end, she'll be at around 1.2-1.4 million, minimum (with the CMAs, holidays, tour, VH1 specials, etc.).

Carrie's never, ever been one to express displeasure in awards show results. The only time I can recall it is a few months ago during the BA rollout when someone finally mentioned the EOTY snub in 2010, and she mentioned how "that one stung."
You can't always win. With Carrie and the CMAs, as of recently, you can't always get nominated.

The CMA's can suck it! It's all about politics and I don't believe Carrie panders to anyone. This is why she isn't nominated more even though she totally deserves it, especially for Blown Away. Oh well. She will keep selling and have a very successful tour and her fans will love every minute of it! :)

Anyone know when the final voting round takes place? I think the best scenario for a FV win would be if "Blown Away" were peaking at the time of the vote. In which case, Carrie would be in the 'front' of voter's minds. Otherwise, it seems as if it's Miranda's to lose, although Carrie deserves it above all the other nominees this year, without a doubt.

I have some good news about Carrie that I found out from the Marketing Department at Arista Nashville just today.
*There is a partnership with Sony NY. Arista's goal for this record is to bring Carrie to a whole new level and they realize her crossover potential, but also realize that she's a country artist first and foremost. So there will be active crossover promotion on this album, probably not to the extent we all want, but Carrie will be promoted on multiple formats.
*"Blown Away" is still eligible for CMA Album of the Year next year. Since BA was released later in the nomination cycle, more attention goes to albums that have had multiple hits and multiple weeks of steady sales for the AOTY category. However, by this time next year they will have released 4 singles, all of which hopefully will be #1 hits, and since the album is already platinum, the sales by this time next year will be even more impressive. These feats will help the voters give reason to nominate her, and hopefully give her the award. So Arista/Sony didn't just want a nomination this year, they want her to win next year and they realize that it was unlikely for that to happen this year since the album is so young. Next year she will have some accomplishments to throw in there to gain voters for her. So next year, we should be talking about how Carrie has six CMA nominations for Single, Song, Video, Album, Female, and Entertainer ;)
So don't worry folks, Sony's got their plans for Carrie under control.

I've italicized the statements that came straight from him (although I reworded them a bit because I didn't want to just copy our conversation here) to separate it from what my assumptions are. Also I'm not gonna hold my breath for Carrie to go 6 for 6 on nominations next year, but Arista and Sony are definitely planning on 2013 being Carrie's award season.

Also, I have reason to believe "Do You Think About Me" is the next single. The guy I talked to didn't say anything specific but it's just a hunch of mine because of the way he reacted when I mentioned the song the other night. He did say the next single has already been chosen though and we will find out the next single "sooner than later".
